Chapter Seven

I started to panic. I was alone in an abandoned kingdom. I may have been really annoyed at Leo, but now I wished he would come back.

"Leo! Where are you?" I called. My words echoed off the city's thick walls.

"Shhhhhh!!! Do you want the guards to catch you?!" A voice said.

I jumped and turned around. The voice belonged to a lean, short old lady. She looked perfectly normal except her skin.

"Why in the world is her skin purple?" I wondered. It was a very light purple, almost pink.

"Oh, sorry. You have probably never seen a columan before. We look like humans expect for our skin, which is colorful. "

Oops. I must have thought out loud again.

"Um, hi, I'm Stella. " She looked at me curiously.

"Really? Well Stella, my name is Alberta, and I believe I have something for you. "

"Could you explain this weird kingdom thing too please? "

She just nodded and led me into a small wooden house. It was very dark, but once my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I noticed that it was sparsely furnished.

There was a stove in the corner with a bed, a chair, and a table. That's all.

"Sit down." She pointed at the chair.
Once I did as she said, she sat on the bed.

"You see, your mother and us columans were great friends. She helped us become invisible to humans so that we could stay here in Arsulis, our native land. "

"But how can I see you then?" I asked.

"You are a sorceress, child. "

"What? No I'm not!" I exclaimed.

"I once met you and your twin, Leo, but you were very small. Your mother, Stelliana, predicted that I would meet you again. "

I took a sharp inhale. So I was really Leo's twin, and my mother was a sorceress.

"This kingdom is called Arsulis. It was abandoned long ago, but there are guards. Anybody caught here will be executed. "

Instantly I said:

" Leo disappeared right before you found me! What if he gets killed!"

Oh no! I might have gotten my own brother killed!

Alberta calmly replied:

"Don't worry child. It was foretold that you would come back, so all the columans have been watching out for you. We have no intention of hurting you. Leo is safe. The guards never come down here anyway. "

I sighed in relief.

"So, you said you had something for me? " I inquired.

"Ah, yes. I do. " She lifted up her mattress and handed me an old envelope. It said Stella and Leo.

I opened it carefully. The brown paper crinkled in my hands.

I took out an old looking letter.

It read:

"Leo, Stella,

I am Stelliana, your mother. I am a sorceress, as is your father, Leonardo.

My friend owl is in charge of telling you my story, but I believe that you have found him already.

I am writting this letter because I feel that tomorrow something terrible will happen, and you will need to come save me. You are my only hope.

Go to the dark mountain. I will be there. Beware of the dangers you will find.

But first, go to Betasys, he will teach you about your powers. Along the way, you will find your five siblings. Take them along.

Grab one of the orbs in the envelope. Stella, the green one will give you the power to tell the future, just like me. Leo, the blue one will let you become invisible, just like your father.

They will always come back to you, but only you can use them.

You will find more letters on the way. Be careful. But remember:

YOU ARE MY ONLY HOPE!

~Stelliana"

I reached in the envelope, and sure enough, two orbs came out. I put them both in my pocket along with the letter.

"So, is there any way to bring all of you columans together to find Leo?" I asked.

"Sure. " Alberta whistled and a second later, about five hundred columans were gathered in front of the house.

Some were green, others blue or orange, any color, it was there.

"Woah. This is like a living rainbow!" I said.

"Go ahead and ask for Leo. " Alberta told me.

"Hello! Please, has anybody seen a boy who looks like me? His name is Leo!" I yelled.
