Chapter Four: Winter_Fall61

Note by MLB998
Remember what I said at the beginning, all notes like this are important.
First: Anyone who sends me a chapter that is not the one that you have been assigned to write: this chapter will not be accepted. Someone who has been assigned that chapter number is most likely already writing it, and only their work will be accepted for this corresponding chapter (and this one only).

Second: Many of you seem to be going with the option of writing a chapter alone, but you can also write one with a partner. As you can see in chapter 3, this can have great results! It also means more people will get to write faster. So yeah, just a reminder (not an obligation of course) because I don't know if I was clear enough on this and most of you didn't clarify if you wanted to write your chapter alone or with someone else.

Chapter Four

Stella turned around and found herself face to face with a humongous hairy...hobo.

"Umm," Stella hesitated. "Hi?"

The hobo gave me a crooked smile and tilted his huge hat. "What brings a pretty girl like you to this part of the woods?"

Before she could answer, a loud howl was heard and the hobo's face changed. He made a grab for Stella's hand and pulled her with him deeper into the woods. The howling multiplied and soon the howling broke out everywhere.

"What's going on?" Stella shouted, her breathing getting heavier the further they ran.

"Not now, we need to run."

They kept running until the hobo stopped in front of a large tree. He pulled a low hanging branch and an opening appeared on the bark. Stella gaped at it. Her mouth widened even more when a human-sized owl with glasses perched on its beak appeared. Her jaw hit the floor when the owl spoke English. English!

"Hendrick, lovely to see you again so soon," the owl greeted as he ushered them inside and up the stairs that looked suspiciously like a lounge. "And who's this?"

"Found her in the woods alone."

"And how did that happened?"

"Beats me."

They kept talking as if she wasn't standing there in front of her but she was too mesmerized by the place to care.

The place was way bigger inside than what the outside made it out to be.

"So I'm guessing they're at it again?" the owl asked, sipping it's cup of tea.

"Guess so."

"Who are at it again?" Stella took a few steps back as two pair of eyes stared at her.

The owl stood up. "Where are my manners? Are you tired? Hungry? Thirsty?"

"Umm, no tha-" Stella gasped when the owl turned around. There was a long bushy tail sticking out of his back! "Wh-what is th-that?"

The hobo chuckled. "You're not from around here, are you?" He took off his huge hat to reveal... antlers. Two medium sized antlers. "We're mutants and so is every living thing here."

"Wh-what?" she stammered.

"Hendrick, you're going to give her a heart attack," the owl scolded. "Excuse Hendrick, he's just being his usual ill-mannered self. I'm Owl."

"Very original," Hendrick replied sarcastically.

"Oh hush," Owl scolded before turning back to Stella. "Now, what's your name?"

"Umm, I'm Stella. "

"Stella?" Owl had a thoughtful look on his face. "Stella, do you remember anything from your past?"

Stella opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. Now that she thought about it, she doesn't remember anything up until waking up to the unfamiliar environment. That was when she remembered the map the strange man gave her.

"No, but I met a strange man in the desert and he gave me a map. "

Hendrick and Owl shared a look. "Did he, by any chance, call you a traveler and ask you to go to the topmost right corner of a map?"

Stella nodded her head, confused on how they knew so much.

Hendrick cleared his throat. "Umm, Stella, I think you should meet someone."

Confusion and curiosity grew inside of her as she followed Hendrick up a few more flight of steps.

"You see, before you, I found another one lost in this wood. He claimed to have met the same strange man." He led her down the corridor and stopped in front of the last door. "Unfortunately, he was spotted by one of the rogues and got bitten. Owl got most of it out of his system to stop him from turning 100% werewolf but he still got some of their traits in him."

Hendrick was just about to twist the doorknob when it flew open. Stella froze as her eyes landed on the boy in front of her. Dirty blonde locks on top of his head, large brown eyes staring at her. She was staring at the exact replica of herself in him.

"What the hell?"

Chapter by @Winter_Fall61. I have received her permission to copy it here.

So hey guys.

I'm @Winter_Fall61 or you could always call me by my pen name Dyana. I've been interested in writing since middle school so I've got a lot of practice. Unfortunately, it never thought me how to focus on finishing a book. I've got two books I'm thinking of discontinuing and starting a collection of short stories so look out for that.

And I guess that's it. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
