His heart pounded at a pace far quicker than normal but it couldn't be helped considering the situation he'd put himself in just to see her. It was already bad enough that he'd kept his knowledge of her and her whereabouts a secret and now he was meeting her with the possibility of being caught by any pro hero that might have been passing by.
Midoriya didn't have to worry about the dorm's cerfew since he had more than enough hours of time before the limitation became a problem. He just hoped that no one he knew would spot him.
"Izu!" someone called. Even though he knew it was her, he couldn't help but flinch. She was the only one that called him by that nickname and he loved it more than he figured he should.
"Asai, you scared me. You shouldn't pop up out of nowhere like that," Midoriya said as he quickly turned around to face her. She wore her usual black cloak to hide her noticeable white hair and she smiled at him from under the shadow of her hood. If he was not so used to her slightly sinister presence, he wouldn't be have been able to look past it and see the overwhelming happiness in her shadowed eyes that glimmered their usual orange.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. Hey, wait! You called me Asai! I told you to call me by my first name," she said with a small pout as she removed her hood. She walked into the light of the alley that they stood in, keeping her pout as she stared at him. Midoriya lightly laughed and gave a shy smile.
"Sorry, Eshima. I keep forgetting. You only just recently gave me permission to use your first name," he stated. Her pout faded into a look of sadness making Midoriya worry that he might have said the wrong thing. He was a little startled when Eshima hugged him without warning but he didn't hesitate to hug her back having longed for one of her hugs for quite some time.
"I missed you...Izu. It's getting harder to stay out of sight. I'm glad I was able to visit you," she quietly said as she nuzzled against him.
"If I'd planned this any earlier, it would risk you getting hurt or captured," Midoriya said. He closed his eyes and took in Eshima's warmth surprised that she was even warm.
"What quirk are you using right now? Or do you have a fever? Please tell me you don't have a fever," Midoriya muttered as he pulled out of the hug to check Eshima's temperature. She giggled at him, a sound he rarely heard but cherished nevertheless.
"I'm not sick. It's just another quirk like you guessed the first time. You know I have plenty of them," she said as she moved his hand away from her forehead. She looked up at him, orange eyes pulsing.
"Fifteen of them, right? Your original quirk is still gone, isn't it," he said searching her expression for the answer he sought.
"It's not gone...just doesn't want to work is all. I still have it," she muttered managing to keep her expression unreadable much to Midoriya's dismay.
He knew there was definitely something going on with her and she refused to tell him despite all of the other information she had been providing UA with under her anonymous allias. Several times Midoriya had tried persuading her to join him in becoming a hero but she remained unconvinced wanting nothing to do with being a hero or the villain she once was.
"It's my suppression quirk. I've built up enough energy just in case I need to release it on someone through the use of one of my other quirks. That's probably what you noticed," she said with a slight frown.
Midoriya was familiar with that particular quirk of hers but she was taking a huge risk by using it. If she dropped her guard for even a moment with too much energy built up, she'd shut down. Her quirk forced her into sleep to keep the energy from releasing in one big concentrated force. She must have been desperate to be using that quirk as her backup.
They stood there in silence, both of them trying to read what was on the other's mind with each other's well-being in consideration.
"I don't have any information about Tomura. He and the league are doing a good job at staying off the radars. I haven't been able to contact him at all lately," Eshima said looking off to the side as she spoke.
"Even if you did know where he was, would you tell me?" Midoriya asked. He already knew the answer and was not surprised by her silence. Shigaraki Tomura had apparently saved her life once and she owed him for it. That was something Midoriya could respect although he didn't like Shigaraki very much at all. He tolerated a lot of things for Eshima's sake as did she.
"I'm leaving town soon. You want to go somewhere before I do?" she suddenly blurted out not even daring to meet his gaze. That particular piece of news was unexpected and took Midoriya by surprise.
"When were you going to tell me that you were leaving?" he questioned, failing to hold back his distress.
"I'll come back. I just need to go somewhere else. I almost got caught by a pro hero recently. I need to disappear for a little bit," Eshima explained in her defense but Midoriya shook his head at her.
"You don't have to run. You can just tell someone, anyone. Even though you used to be a villain, UA can help you. They'd be more than willing to help you create a fresh start. You've been sending the police, UA, and other pro heros valuable information. You aren't Enigma anymore. That villain is gone. They'd all be willing to make some sort of arrangement. I'm sure of it," he said. He was desperate to keep her within his reach so he wouldn't lose her again.
"I was All for One's main ally. I still have the quirks he gave me. I still have to atone for all the things I did. I can't become a hero. I wouldn't feel right. But that doesn't mean I want to be a villain either. I just want to live...like you do. I want to be free," Eshima stated. Her tears did not fall but seeing them form at the edges of her eyes broke Midoriya's heart.
"You'll make it there. I promised to save you the day we met and I still intend to do just that. I just have to figure out how," Midoriya reassured hoping that Eshima's tears would vanish.
"They put him in that place. Do you think they'll put me there too? I didn't kill anyone but I have broken a lot of laws. What if a pro hero catches me and I never see the outside world again? I'll never get to see you again," Eshima rambled as she began to think of the worst. Her mind often directed her towards her fears which was one thing that Midoriya often helped her out with.
"Don't think about such things. We have time to figure this out. Why don't we just go somewhere like you suggested. If you're distracted from your problems, you can clear you mind," Midoriya quickly said to change the subject but Eshima suddenly tensed up, her eyes beginning to light up with a warning color, red. She quickly pulled off her cloak and draped it over Midoriya's shoulders before pulling the hood over him. He didn't know what she sensed but he knew better than to question her when she did things like this.
Eshima took hold of the cloak by its edges and used her sixth quirk to paralyze him without warning. Her third quirk, one that allowed a quirk's abilities to be transferred to objects, was used on the cloak she held on to as she used her tenth quirk. That quirk in particular allowed Eshima to nullify her very existence by remaining as still as possible. Midoriya often thought of it as a form of invisibility but it was far more complicated than that.
She held his gaze and he of course did the same since he had no other option. He saw her eyes widen in fear as they focused on something behind him yet Eshima did not move nor did she make a sound. They weren't in the middle of the alley but Midoriya was close to it and he knew that Eshima was not afraid of anything except pro heros and law enforcement. Eshima followed her target with her eyes worridly glaring as they remained nearby.
Midoriya couldn't see anything behind him and felt just as much stress from the situation as Eshima herself did for he could not be caught around her without having the chance to get her name cleared. He knew things would end badly that way.
"No, I lost them. I know I saw him walk down this way but I figured this was the meeting place. They're gone now. We need to find them before we lose track of them. Midoriya is in danger," a familiar voice said.
"Are you sure he isn't being mind controlled or something? It's not like him to go to a villain like this on his own. Enigma is supposed to be a dangerous villain so she probably did something to him," another familiar voice worridly questioned. The voices belonged to his classmates but what were they doing following him and who were they contacting?
"We need to get going. Come on. This way. Aizawa probably already relayed the message to the other groups. Maybe Jiro's group found them and picked up on their conversation. That could tell us something," Iida said as he led Uraraka right past them.
They were mere centimeters away from touching and it made Midoriya nearly panic despite him not being able to do anything in response to that emotion. Eshima seemed the most bothered by the appearance of the two UA students than Midoriya did. When had they started noticing his meetings with Asai Eshima, known better by her villain name Enigma? Who else was involved in this mission to find them? What were the two of them going to do?
They stood there unmoving for a good five minutes likely still in panic before (y/n) released her quirks and pulled her cloak away from him.
"I didn't know," was the first thing Midoriya blurted out.
"I love you," Eshima said as he spoke. The words caught Midoriya off guard and his face flushed with red almost immediately for he too held the same strong feelings for Eshima but she had never openly stated her own despite acknowledging them.
"Why did you...what...Eshima?" he blabbered not knowing how to respond.
"I can't stay here any longer. You really are in danger. The pro hero that I ran into, he let me go and warned me not to meet you but I did it anyway because I wanted to see you. I'm so sorry. I have to leave for longer than I planned to. You have to get out of here before anyone else shows up looking for you," Eshima ranted as her eyes watered and her composure vanished. Her eyes faded to a dull blue to display her sadness.
"You don't have to leave. I can explain things. They'll take in mind the leads you've been providing," Midoriya said. He caught hold of Eshima's hand knowing that she would run the moment she got the chance. She trusted him enough to stay so long as he kept his hand in her own and he intended to keep her there for as long as he could.
"They don't know that was me...I can't get caught again. It was scary last time being locked in those things. My quirks were gone. I felt so helpless and I don't want anything like that to ever happen again. And now you could be affected too. You're trying to become a hero and you're talking to a criminal like me," Eshima whimpered as she began to lose it but Midoriya wasn't letting her think negatively. Then again, he was also frantically thinking of both good and bad outcomes himself so he didn't really think his next actions through.
Hugs he had gotten used to but pressing his forehead to Eshima's as he held both her hands was something he would never have initiated on his own. He felt his cheeks burning with embarrassment but it was the only way he could think of quickly calming Eshima down. She held his gaze with shock evident in her features but it wasn't long at all before she calmed down completely, closing her eyes to stop her tears.
When Midoriya thought she was okay, and when he could no longer bear the embarrassment, he quickly put some space between them and averted his gaze.
"Thank you, Izu. I needed that. You always manage to save me from my mental breakdowns don't you," she playfully spoke. Midoriya glanced at her seeing her manage a smile and quickly looked away as his blush depended.
"I...I was only doing w-what I thought would help," he stammered.
"You know we won't meet up for a while right? After this, I won't even be able to send my usual messages to you. We'll have to cut all communication," she suddenly said on a serious note. Midoriya looked right at her this time not wanting to face the reality of their situation. Their entire friendship was never even supposed to happen so he could never hope to keep a stable relationship with her that had only just begun.
"We both have promises to keep. Please don't break yours before I get the chance to keep mine," he said knowing that he was about to let her go.
"Don't worry about that. I'm never breaking that promise, especially since I made it to you," she said before stepping forward and hugging him again. The embrace was returned and Midoriya held Eshima close as he did his best not to cry. The only reason he didn't was because the appearance of a threat to Eshima showed up in the form of his classmates with the addition of another.
He didn't panic but he didn't stay still when he spotted them rushing towards him. It was no surprise that Eshima temporarily let her guard down because of Midoriya so he would make sure she remained safe so long as she was in his care. He swept her off her feet, glad that she hadn't shut down, and lept to the top of the first roof he got to by using the alley's brick walls.
From there, he kept Eshima craddled in his arms as he looked down at Uraraka, Iida, and now Momo who seemed to have a hand-held radio in her hand.
"Midoriya, what are you doing? You have to run away from her. She's a villain!" Iida called out. Perhaps he assumed that Midoriya was unaware of Eshima's criminal status but either way, his words were ineffective. Eshima's voice immediately caught his attention as she quietly spoke into his ear.
"They're all rushing this way. You have to stay with them and let me run," she said as she looked down at his friends more in curiosity than in fear. Eshima was an S-ranked villain simply because of her status as All for One's main ally but the status wasn't just for show. The last thing Midoriya wanted was for a fight to break out between them.
"Listen to us, please! We want to help you!" Uraraka pleaded but Midoriya gave them all looks of apology before turning to flee. He didn't even get to go anywhere when he was met by the sight of a small group of incoming pro heros. Off in the distance behind them was a helicopter doing its best to keep up with them.
"Izu, behind you!" Eshima warned as she used her second quirk to move them to a location across from where they were. She called it phasing and Midoriya found it to be a fascinating way of teleporting despite its range being short.
"Thank you," he quickly said to her before proceeding to run. It was a terrible idea to do so but Midoriya didn't want to be in a populated area in case Eshima was caught and desired to release her stored energy. That particular quirk was the most destructive of all the ones she possessed and he didn't know how much energy she had stored up.
Midoriya was startled when a blur of red passed him as he dashed through the city with the power of One for All. He stopped atop yet another building and in front of him landed the blur of red that he recognized to be the pro hero Hawks. Eshima stared at him and he quickly avoided looking into her eyes letting Midoriya and Eshima know that some of her quirks were well known already.
"Midoriya Izuku, you are aiding the escape of a criminal. If you continue, there might be severe consequences. Enigma, you've got to be more careful. Don't you know that it's bad to be seen by a pro hero?" Hawks said looking at Midoriya rather than Eshima who kept her piercing gaze on him. No one got to say anything else just yet.
A wall of flames shot up the side of the building and distracted Midoriya which Hawks decided to use as his opportunity but Eshima had been watching him and every one of his feathers from the start. The red feathers, although fast, were not fast enough to reach them through Eshima's short ranged quirk that acted as a barrier. Anything that passed through that thin invisible barrier was immediately destoryed by her quirk. The feathers crackled like fireworks in front of them just as Endeavor made his appearance on the roof.
"You! How stupid can you be to side with a villain?" Endeavor growled as he stood by Hawks who seemed rather disappointed that his feathers didn't survive Eshima's quirk. The sound of the helicopter was getting closer which mean that the other three pro heros weren't far and could show up any moment.
"Izu...could you put me down?" Eshima asked, her voice not showing any of her intentions. Midoriya was hesitant knowing that they were surrounded and had no way out unscathed. Eshima could be a truly unreadable person not just because of her quirks but because of her unpredictability yet Midoriya complied to her wish anyway.
"Don't you hear me talking to you?" Endeavor bellowed. His flames intensified in response to his flare of anger.
"I can explain. She isn't a villain anymore. Esh- I mean, Enigma doesn't want to harm anyone," Midoriya spoke although he wasn't entirely sure if Endeavor would even listen to him. He had put Eshima down but he still kept an arm securely around her waist in case he'd need to sheild her from harm should Endeavor decide to use his flames. There was only so much Eshima could defend against.
"Izu, they won't listen. They don't care. I'm still a villain to them until proven otherwise," Eshima sadly said. She was terrified. Midoriya didn't have to look at her to tell. Being surrounded by heros was one of her worst nightmares and now she was living it.
"Why do you say that, kid? You know who she is, right?" Hawks inquired clearly buying time for the nearby reinforcements.
"Enigma is the person responsible for all of that anonymous information. She's the Secret Seller that everyone has been talking about," Midoriya explained and yet Endeavor didn't seem to believe him which he dreaded.
Eshima's quirk activated from behind them, the crackling sound scaring Midoriya half to death as he looked behind him. His teacher, Aizawa, and two other heros, Midnight and Best Jeanist, were behind them on a different building of equal height. It was Best Jeanist that had attempted to capture them only for his fabric to burn under the intensity of Eshima's barrier.
The helicopter hovered close enough now so that Midoriya could see who exactly was inside of it. Just as he'd assumed, All Might was there but he hadn't expected Principal Nezu to be there as well.
"Midoriya, we will let you explain everything once we have detained Enigma. Please step away from her," Nezu said through a megaphone catching Eshima's attention. The moment she looked away from Endeavor he lunged forward not using his flames but still becoming a threat. Midoriya would have used his own quirk to move both himself and Eshima out of the way but it had been disabled at some point during Aizawa's arrival.
Instead, Eshima phased them to the building behind the three pro heros that had shown up. Before Midoriya could do anything, Eshima stepped in front of him and locked eyes with Midnight using her sixth quirk to paralyze her. Best Jeanist was quick to retaliate but his fabric once again failed to make it past Eshima's barrier. Aizawa didn't do anything but turn to All Might who now had the megaphone.
"Asai, stand down and release that student. We are not here to fight you but we will if necessary," he said. Eshima snapped her attention to him at the mention of her name which also surprised Midoriya for he didn't think All Might knew Enigma's identity. She kept it so well hidden that it was hard for even Midoriya himself to gain access to her real surname. When she looked away from Midnight though, her quirk's affects disappeared and the freed hero didn't hesitate to act.
Midnight's quirk activated within moments and the sleeping formula spread rather quickly. Midoriya looked to Eshima hoping that she'd decided to escape since her barrier wouldn't be enough to stop the gas from reaching her but she froze in panic chosing to cover her nose with part of her cloak. Not long after, sleep took over both their consciousness with Eshima being the last person Midoriya saw before he blacked out.
_______________
Silence. That's what it seemed like at first as Midoriya awoke. His senses quickly adjusted to his surroundings and he heard sounds of struggle. He himself was bound to a chair although nothing was stopping him from using his quirk. Across from him chained to another chair was Eshima, her eyes ablaze with red as she faught her restraints. She was unable to speak due to the tape that someone had put over her mouth which Midoriya was sure was not lawful.
"Good. You're awake. We can take these off of you now," All Might's familiar voice said from nearby. Midoriya looked to him seeing that he sat in the corner of the dimly lit room. It must have been an interrogation room for there was one sided glass present on the wall despite the typical table being missing.
"All Might, I can ex-" Midoriya was saying but silenced himself when All Might shook his head at him. The retired hero didn't seem to be angry which was a relief but Midoriya was tied to a chair which couldn't mean anything good.
"I know part of the situation. Hawks was the one to alert us all and apparently he also warned Asai not to show up. He's been tracking you for a month now and only recently told us about what he knew. You could have been killed. Asai is a dangerous manipulative villain," All Might said as he released Midoriya from the cuffs that now no longer bound his wrist together.
"She isn't...." Midoriya began but again silenced himself when All Might glared at him.
"She is an associate of All for One. She can't be trusted. You're lucky Hawks was able to vouch for you. Your intentions to change her were pure and commendable but she isn't someone that can easily be persuaded. We had to keep you in here with her in case you were under her control but it doesn't seem like you are," All Might explained.
Eshima growled at him and applied more pressure to the shackles and chains that kept her in place. Her eyes were lined with tears and her skin seemed to be turning red from what seemed to be burning of some sort.
"Don't," All Might said putting a hand out in front of Midoriya who had unconsciously stood to go to her side. Eshima shifter her gaze to him giving him a stare of apology and concern and Midoriya did the same.
"Both of you have some questions to answer. Asai has to answer us as to why she was targeting UA and planning to get in by using you. And you have some explaining to do. I warned you about how dangerous she is and yet you endangered yourself anyway," All Might continued.
"All Might...can I ask you something?" Midoriya inquired as he stared at Eshima.
"Of course but don't think I'm letting you off easy. This is a serious matter," he answered.
"Can you tell me what would happen if a villain happened to be the Secret Seller? What would UA do? What if that villain doesn't want to be a villain anymore? Asai is my age. She probably didn't have a choice to become a villain but now she has the chance to at least start doing good. Don't tell me you're all going to let that chance go to waste," Midoriya ranted and looked to the glass that reflected his image despite there being people on the other side. He hoped that they heard him and understood what he was trying to tell them.
"You're saying that she's the one that's been helping us all this time? That warning about the U.S.J. Incident was her? And the warning about Stain and the information of the League of Villain's hideout? That was all her?" All Might asked. Before Midoriya could answer, Eshima frantically nodded with eyes pleading that she be released. That was when Principal Nezu and Hawks causally walked into the room with the keys to her chains and restraints. Hawks did hesitate to start unlocking the heavy locks leaving Nezu to explain things.
"What Midoriya speaks is true. We simply needed to confirm that he wasn't working with Enigma for criminal purposes. Hawks has had an eye on Enigma for quite a while now and I've been working on a plan to get Asai on our side that I think would be a good time to implement now that we have her in our care," Nezu said.
"In our care?" All Might repeated. Nezu nodded and Midoriya could have sworn he saw Hawks smirk. "Yes. Asai will be an official UA staff memeber starting today. It's for her protection. We've been searching for her ever since we found out the identity of the Secret Seller. Thanks to Midoriya's secret meetings with her, we were able to find her without much trouble."
"You're okay with letting an S-ranked villain work at UA?" All Might asked. He seemed rather conflicted in the matter but who could blame him? Enigma was a villain the he saught to capture at one point in his career even if she was but a child at the time.
"She will be under constant watch while there of course. As for her job, she will be helping to train the hero course students. That way, we can easily monitor her quirk usage. She still has many things to straighten out with the law of course," Nezu explained.
Just as he finished speaking Hawks undid the cuffs that kept Eshima's quirks inactive. She didn't hesitate to use her phase quirk and reappeared behind Midoriya startling everyone in the process.
"Esh- I mean, Enigma! You can't just disappear like that!" Midoriya blurted out but Eshima didn't listen. Instead she hid behind him clinging to his arm and hiding her face with her hood.
"She's still a kid, Nezu. Maybe you should be a little more lenient on her. Give her the opportunity to make some friends. You know, kid stuff," Hawks said as he leaned against the wall. The room remained silent for a moment as Nezu seemed to be thinking on the matter.
"Is this really okay? What if it's been her plan all along to get on our good side. All for One plans well for things like this," All Might said clearly still worried.
"I'm not as dangerous as you think I am. I have full control over all my quirks but one. That one is my original quirk but it's perfectly harmless," Eshima quietly said still hiding behind Midoriya. He let her cling to him despite his slight embarrassment.
"So what will you do about it....Nezu?" Hawks inquired looking specifically to Eshima. The tension in the room seemed to be vanishing as silence took hold of it.
"I don't want to be a hero, but I will help you defeat any villain that opposes you...only because Izu has proven that not all heros are my enemy," Eshima stated lifting her head just enough for her glare to be seen.
A light blush rose to Midoriya's face when Eshima used her nickname for him but he did his best to disregard it. Her glare was what he was more worried about. To Midoriya, it wasn't a threatening glare at all but to anyone else, it could be taken a different way especially since some of her quirks could be activated with just one look.
"Very well then. We'll negotiate things with you...but you're in no position to fully decline our offer," Nezu informed.
"I am aware of that but you also have no idea what half of my quirks are. If I wished to, I could take Izu with me and escape this place once again becoming lost," Eshima said. Midoriya had no doubt that she was compleltly serious but he couldn't get past the usage of his nickname which was embarrassing him more and more by the minute.
"What if I took you in? I could mentor you..." All Might suddenly spoke. He took everyone by surprise with his words. Eshima in particular looked the most shocked by his suggestion.
"Why would you do that? Just minutes ago you were questioning my loyalty," Eshima inquired. She peeked at him from behind Midoriya who was starting to feel the heat that Eshima's compressed energy was giving off.
"Recently I found out who exactly Shigaraki Tomura is. I wasn't able to keep him out of All for One's influence. You too fell into his grasp but you want to change. I can take this opportunity to stop him from getting into the mind of another young mind full of potential. I can help change the future for the better even though I no longer have my status as the Symbol of Peace," All Might explained.
It seemed like a wonderful idea to Midoriya. If that was the case, he didn't doubt that Eshima would become a frequent visitor to his own personal training and talks with All Might himself.
"See...kid stuff," Hawks muttered in approval from his spot on the wall.
"You aren't that much older than us, Keigo-san. You shouldn't call us kids," Eshima said making the pro hero retort her statement with a short laugh.
"Why don't we go take care of the formalities and check up on you two kids once things are sorted out. I doubt they'd be able to leave this room until we calm the situation down a little more. Isn't that right, Nezu?" Hawks said staring at Eshima with a hint of mischief which she returned.
No one said a word about how odd it was for Eshima to easily address Hawks by his first name nor did anyone comment on how familiar they were with one another.
"You don't like formalities Keigo-san. Wouldn't you rather stay here?" Eshima stated becoming a little more bold with her use of the pro hero's name.
"Heh...seems the kid knows her stuff. I'll leave the rest to you," Hawks said to All Might with a wink before taking his leave.
"He is right. We will have to sort things out," Nezu stated with a nod. He too left the room making things a little more awkward for Midoriya who was sure that his mentor would start asking questions.
"Did you tell her or did she figure it out on her own?" All Might immediately asked once Principal Nezu had left. It was a question Midoriya expected to be asked but the answer was rather complicated.
"I figured it out. Wasn't that hard to tell," Eshima answered for Midoriya much to his relief. His quirk was never a secret when it came to her.
"And how long have you two been seeing each other?" All Might asked. Midoriya stiffened at the question and Eshima didn't answer for him this time. Midoriya glanced at Eshima knowing she didn't like talking about that particular time.
"Well?" All Might urged looking specifically to Midoriya for the answer he sought.
"We met about a week after the U.S.J. incident. She was close to dead and I didn't know she was Enigma until after she told me so," Midoriya spoke up.
"He saved my life so you can't get mad at him. He was just being a hero," Eshima immediately stated afterwards. All Might shifted his gaze to her and slightly smiled.
"You've grown haven't you. We haven't faught since you were a child," he said, throwing Eshima off. She narrowed her eyes at him but didn't say a word.
"I'll leave you two here for now. I want to have a talk with Hawks. I won't be long so don't get bored while I'm gone," All Might informed as he too made his leave but Midoriya had a feeling that he intentionally left him in the room with Eshima.
For a moment, the duo remained still and silent with Eshima still clinging to Midoriya's arm.
"Do you want to sit down or...?" Midoriya muttered letting himself trail off to show his uncertainty. Eshima gave a nod and they both sat right there on the floor where they'd been standing.
"You were right. They gave me a chance," Eshima quietly spoke as they sat. Midoriya smiled at her, an action that she returned.
"I was hoping that you'd get the opprotunity to have a fresh start. You'll be at my school now," Midoriya said as he began to truly think about what Eshima's life could be like from then on.
"I'll get to see you more often," Eshima added before wrapping Midoriya into a hug and nuzzling against him. The poor boy couldn't help the blush that appeared from his embarrassment. He was naturally this way, easily getting flustered by girls, but Eshima made things worse since she didn't care too much for social norms.
"Eshima! They're probably still watching you!" he quickly said. Eshima only giggled at him, a sound that he always cherished.
"I don't care. They can look all they want. I'm actually quite happy for once. To be able to spend time with you without having to hide was something I could have only hoped for," Eshima said. She closed her eyes and rested on Midoriya who sat there with slight surprise not having seen such an affectionate side of the former villain.
"You really mean that, don't you," he stated as he rested his head onto hers. He could still feel the warmth that she didn't usually radiate and couldn't help but feel that a new set of experiences awaited him once everything was sorted out between Eshima and the law.
"I'll get to meet your classmates too," Eshima quietly mumbled appearing to fall asleep. Midoriya's eyes went wide.
His classmates...he'd forgotten all about the various reactions they'd give him. Not only that but they had no idea that he'd been secretly meeting and now dating a former villain.
"Yeah...you'll meet my classmates," Midoriya said although he didn't particularly look forward to it. He looked down at Eshima seeing that she'd fallen asleep, the side effect to her compression quirk. Her energy slowly began to fade along with Midoriya's own consciousness as he too fell asleep awaiting the return of any pro hero to walk through the door.
