This is a little writing thing I came up with to get back into writing.

The Prompt:

Write a story based off of a song. Do not just completely copy the story of the song. Create a new perspective of the song.

Short scene:

⚠️ Trigger Warning ⚠️ :

Slight mentions of drowning
(no one actually drowns)

I see a ship sailing through choppy waters. It looks like a lonely ghost ship with only two blurry figures on it. There seem to be no personal items other than many journals and photos. For a second I hear a screeching sound and I see the anchor is dragging. I hear a quiet wooden crack sound. I see the man who I assume is the captain pull on ropes near the foremast. He looks frustrated and upset.
The other man calls to the captain, "You set sail alone there is no crew. No one on the deck who can help you. This is all your own battle to win. This is your ship and you are the captain. Oh, captain, let's make a deal." The captain ignores him, but he continues anyway. "Where we both say the things that we both really feel. I feel scared and I'm starting to sink, and I only sink deeper the deeper I think."
The captain says nothing. He doesn't even acknowledge the other man. I see him grab a clear glass bottle with what looks like sea water in it. He looks into the sky and I notice red spots under his eyes.
"Oh, captain, make up your mind. Before the salt burns your eyes and you run out of time," the other man says as the captain pops the cork on the bottle. I watch the captain get lost in his thoughts.
"Oh, captain, let's make a deal. Where we both say the things that we both really feel. I feel scared and I'm starting to sink, and I only sink deeper the deeper I think," the other man repeats.
The bottle the captain is holding cracks and the ship starts to sink. The water rises to their necks and I blink. I see both of their face clearly. They're both me.
I blink again, and I'm in an empty room. In the middle there is a pedestal with a glass bottle on it. I see the sinking ship I was on inside it. I look up and see myself in a mirror behind the bottle. The bottle is in the place where my heart is. The bottle cracks and water spills out filling the room. The water fills the room quickly. There are no doors or windows. There is no escape. My eyes are burning. I can't hold my breath much longer. My lungs are burning. The bottle floats in front of my face. My heart is burning.

I gasp.

I feel no water enter my lungs or mouth.

My body shoots up and my eyes snap open. I see my empty bed room. Tears fill my eyes, and I curl into myself.
