Summary of Novel Idea

Siblings Dana (18) and Billy (13) live on the streets and get by mugging people using their unique abilities to turn into swarms of bugs. Everything changes when an attempt against a man goes horribly wrong. The pair come across him again and follow him, hoping to get a shot at revenge. The three of them pass through a door to the fantasy world of Hell City, a realm where demons live.

It doesn't function the way Dana and Billy are used to, something thats quickly taken advantage of, and the siblings are separated. 

The main thing for Hell City is that it runs on competition, anyone can challenge anyone to a competition of their choice. Most of the time the fights are physical but mental challenges/games of chance are also fairly common. 

The loser wears a piece of jewelry representative of the winner, so in this world a person wearing lots of jewelry doesn't equal wealth or power it's the opposite. The loser has to serve the winner for a year before they can re challenge them to try to win back their freedom. 

Dana ends up with Silver, a demon in lots of debt and intentions of making it to the top of the social order. Meanwhile Billy loses a challenge to a higher ranked Demon intrigued by the newcomers. Throughout their stay Dana learns how to fight against this power system in her time with Silver while Billy learns how to work within it. 

Their main goal is to find each other and get back home but this gets increasingly complicated as they get more involved in this world. 

Adding pressure to the situation a Demon known as 'The Man with Scissors' is searching for the siblings which links to the source of their powers, how they ended up on the streets in the first place and their heritage.
