02: Characters - Names

This is another extremely important aspect of your cat. There are a few more rules when it comes to naming, and here I will outline those and give some prefixes and suffixes.

First, what you can't do.

This is something that drives me up the wall... the cats cannot be named something that they don't know about, except if they're a kittypet/rogue/loner. So no minerals, cats are not geologists, they don't know what diamonds and emeralds are. They don't know what the galaxy and planets are, and they don't know the Twoleg names for seasons. They also do not know what the ocean is. They call it the Sun-Drown Place.

I know people say "Moon is sacred and cannot be used!!!!!" but I'm calling bs. If the Erins were serious about that they wouldn't use it themselves and should've decided that from the beginning. There are multiple canon cats with "moon" in their name and no other cat has ever had an issue with it. Star, however, shouldn't be used, as that is reserved for leaders.

Now, for how to decide your cat's name. I think people get too hung up on having a unique name, but something like Blackfur is completely fine.

Cats are named after their appearance, personality, a combination, or they could be partially named after another cat or something to do with where they were born. I would advise against the first part of your cat's name being personality based as a kit being named wouldn't be old enough for that to be seen, but it does happen sometimes.

I'd also suggest not choosing names with too many syllables, something like Marigoldwhisker is just too much of a mouthful.

Now will list a bunch of prefixes that are possibilities. Just remember, as long as the cats know about it, it's fine. If you have any more prefixes let me know and I'll add them!
