Rule number one: READ. A LOT.
Writers don't really get apprenticeships so we must take it into our own hands to learn out craft. Surprisingly there is only one way to do that: READ.
- Pick up a book, open it and start absorbing the story.
- Notice the things you don't like, notice the things you do.
- Read genres that aren't just what you're writing about, you need a vast work experience.
