Day 5 - My First Author Photo
So you might be rushing over here to finally catch a glimpse at the "real" me, but I decided to keep you a little longer in suspense, LOL. Since Wattpad is the first site I ever published on, my first author picture is also my profile picture - a black rose.
Now, why a black rose, you may ask. First of all, I really hate flowers. Not the kind that grows outside in nature (of course I like to look at those), but the kind you buy in a shop and put in a vase. For me, flowers are a living organism and when you sever their stem, you kill them. So in a sense, flowers in a vase are nothing more than dying corpses whose beauty is withering away.
On top of that, the flower industry has always pushed to make roses the ultimate symbol of love and romance which alone gives me a gag reflex since it's nothing more than a money making scheme, plus roses have thorns and what could possibly be romantic about them (okay, rant over, and don't let me spoil you your red bouquet of roses you'll get for Valentine's Day since I know my thinking on this might be a bit off, ha, ha).
Back to the topic. I have always adored roses, though orchids are my favorite, but since a red rose would have symbolized love and romance and I am surely not a romance writer and didn't want to raise false expectations, I decided to go with a black rose instead. Black also happens to by my favorite color (if it is even considered a color), so it was a win-win situation.
So even though you didn't actually get to see a picture of me, you got a small insight into my screwed up personality. I hope I didn't spoil flowers for you until eternity (I'm still waiting for the makers of 'Honeybuns' to complain since some of my readers stopped eating them after reading Trapped, so I don't want the flower industry against me as well).
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully, I get to share more of my writer's journey with you tomorrow :)
