Day 4 - Published Works
So since Trapped won't be published until November, I decided to count my two featured Wattpad books for this update and want to give you a few facts you might not know about each book.
Blurb:
When Kelsey Miller was sixteen, she was kidnapped, beaten and raped by two men - both of whom were never brought to justice. Three years later, the past still haunts her and fear, pain and anger have taken over her world. People in town call her the "crazy one" which has led to Kelsey's total isolation, her stepbrother Luke her only friend and confidant.
When one night the unthinkable happens, she gets a second chance at life, but will she take it or allow the demons of her past to destroy her completely?
Facts you might not know:
* Trapped is my first thriller mystery. When I started out, I had my plot mapped out until chapter 13, but was clueless where I wanted to take it. The characters took over after that.
* Marcel was not even planned to appear more than one time in the book. Only a comment of one of my readers (thanks TheWriterD) that I wouldn't make a big deal about character that wouldn't appear again got me thinking. It's thanks to her that the hole story line around Marcel/Tyrone developed (and it might have saved the whole book, LOL)
* Another reader gave me the idea to throw Luke in jail (thanks linahanson). So in a way, Trapped was a communal work, LOL. You guys will have some special dedications coming in November :)
* I was absolutely stunned by Trapped's success. Originally, I planned to publish Living With The Choices We Make as my debut novel, but after getting all this reader support, I decided to run with it.
Blurb:
When Rena met Brent, he was a dream come true. He was a real gentleman, funny, caring and even her overly protective father liked him.
But then, she discovered a different side of Brent - a violent side that scared her. Promising that this had been a one time slip up, she forgave him. After all, he was the love of her life.
She didn't see the signs - the controlling, the alienation from her friends and dad, the obsession he had with her. She was like putty in his hands.
Over time, she learned about the Cycle of Abuse the hard way and she even tried to break free. But in the end, she only saw one way out and it will likely cost her everything.
Facts you might not know:
* Living With The Choices We Make was only the third book I ever completed (and that includes the fish thriller I wrote at age 11). There are at least 30 started books in the document folder on my laptop and LWTCWM would have probably suffered the same fate if I didn't have all my readers breathing up and down my neck to complete it (thanks guys!!)
* It's the story closest to my heart. About a dozen scenes were taken from real life.
* I was in a abusive relationship for ten years and only tried to leave once. I failed because I wasn't strong enough, so kudos to all those women out there who manage to leave their abusers.
* One of the villains was closely tailored to my husband :(
* LWTCWM was planned as stand-alone book. The novella and sequel were only written because of the overwhelming reader support and interest.
* Domestic violence is the number 1 crime in the US. It is estimated that the annual incidences of physical and sexual abuse (including those unreported) exceed the number of all other felonies combined.
That's it for today. I hope you enjoyed the little insight in these books :)
