Carter is the captain of the guards at the palace and a key figure in Marlee's storyline. Despite being in a lower caste, Carter is highly respected for his skill and dedication to his job. He falls in love with Marlee, a Selection contestant, which leads to severe punishment when their relationship is discovered, as it is forbidden for the Selection girls to be with anyone other than Prince Maxon. Despite the hardships, Carter's love for Marlee never wavers, and he proves himself to be a devoted and honorable man.
