Round two: Whatever it takes

He grabbed the door handle  and flung it open, entering into an massive office on the tenth floor of the sprawling estate. Black-clad mercenaries, MP5 submachine guns clutched in their grip, hustled toward him.

Rage flowed  through his veins like lava, His eyes narrowed on the person sitting behind the desk.

"Only three people Knew I was meeting the agent at the warehouse," Damon scowled as he pointed over to the mercenaries. He pressed on,  "Call off your men."

Elizabeth Nightshade rose  from where she was sitting. Her expression hardened as she withdrew her IMI Desert Eagle XXX Magnum 50 caliber pistol. "Stand down, that's an order," she barked." Damon, you should left have the gun running story alone. But no, you had to make a name for yourself."

He Jammed his hands in his pocket as he paced and back and forth, choosing his next words carefully before he spoke.

"Who do  you work for, Miss NightShade,   Let me guess some black ops private outfit maybe connected to the CIA. Or is it The Bratva?" And how you handled your gun that you'r e a pro

Elizabeth slammed down her fist onto the desk. "You'll never know Damon, that I can Promise you. And if you decided to try to publish the story about the gun running. Who's going to believe a wash-up journalist. You have no idea who you're dealing with. I've had people killed."

He shrugged.  "You think, I'm  just a washed-up journalist, that's where you're wrong. You can send whoever you want after me. But I'll never back off the story until your whole operation is exposed trust me."

She pulled the trigger on her pistol as the bullet rushed out the muzzle almost hitting Damon.

Damon sprinted over to one of the  mercenaries ducking behind them to take cover.

"You're going to have better than that if you're trying to threaten or scare me off the story," he said in a harsh tone.

She placed her pistol back  down on the desk. "That was just a warning next time I won't miss and trust me I've  never miss."

He tensed at the thought of what she was capable of doing.

" If anything happens to me I have an insurance policy in place, where my thumb drive will be delivered to the Washington Post. They have instructions to publish the story."

Elizabeth  eyes narrowed on Damon as she gave him the once over.

" You're forgetting one thing Damon, I have connections to people high in the government who won't let that happen I can assure you."

He rubbed his chin."Once the story is published everyone will know about your gun running operation and know who you are."

Elizabeth jerked head in the direction of the door.

"I suggest  you  leave  now while you can, Damon,  you  never know  when something bad will  happen?"

"I'm not  too worried ," he replied.

Elizabeth shouted.  "You should be worried, watch your back Damon, trust me."
