In retrospect, explaining transgender to a kid as "the wrong body" or "not being at home in his own skin" may have been a mistake.

The little girl was quite afraid. She was afraid her mommy was in pain or even a bodysnatcher.

She cried, and her mommy was quite worried. Had her little girl truly turned her back on her mommy for this? Surely she was better than this.

That was when the girl's dad came in and helped the situation. He knew his wife had a tendency to not know how to explain things well. And he knew just how to fix it. He said that mommy's body didn't look like how she knew it should. She had to go to a doctor to fix it.

Then the little girl understood. See, she was never afraid of her mommy or of transgender people. However, she was quite afraid of the bodysnatchers, as any smart, young mind should be.
