Freedom_Fighter24's 10 Most Hated Wrestling Moments of 2023

So, there's been a rumor going around about me saying that I now hate wrestling. Here's the thing, I just don't know anymore.

I mean, 2023 has gone by and I considered it one of least favorite years by far, and also 2020, as it really deteriorated my mental health and my sleep schedule to where if you saw me in real life, I would've looked like Squidward...

...when he worked 24 hours at the Krusty Krab nonstop or some shit.

It was just absolutely awful and for some of the things that happened in wrestling to be the shit cherry on my shit cake of a bad time, it just made things worse.

Like I said, I don't know if I like wrestling anymore, so let me get into some of the reasons why as this list will be about the moments in wrestling that almost gave me a very severe aneurysm to where I almost went to the hospital because of that.

I'm Freedom_Fighter24 from the platform of Wattpad, and here are...

10. LA Knight Taken Seriously A Bit Too Late

Now, to be fair, LA Knight is now shining with a gleam in his shades and is one of the most over wrestlers in WWE right now, but the former Eli Drake has been casted to the sidelines and haven't been taken seriously until last year's Summerslam.

Look, I'm all for Knight to be pushed to the moon, but when a company starts to ignore the fans and choose everyone else except one person that the fans really like, that's when I start to have a bit of a problem.

The reason why is because Knight is over with the fans wherever he goes, even on wrestling shows where he's not even featured, it's just baffling how WWE didn't see him as their cash cow until late last year when he tag teamed with Big Match John to Fastlane, including the Roman Reigns match at Crown Jewel, WE'LL GET TO THAT, and Money In The Bank.

I can forgive WWE for realizing how much of a throwback he is to Steve Austin and Dwayne "The Dwayne" Dwayne-son and how's he over with the crowd, but not realizing it sooner? It's just maddening.

9. Oh Wow, Plus-Size J-Lo Is Back!

Now this is something that I've been vocal about and I had a lot of wonderful and amazing things to say about her(sarcasm), but I'll keep it brief since I've talked about her so many times.

Nia Jax should've been blacklisted. Vince should've gotten his head out of his ass to where he finally realizes that Jax is a Human Botch-plex Machine, but no. He had the audacity to bring her back when she's bigger than she was before.

She kinda looks like she's been at the Golden Corall buffet for 38 years and could be on "My 600lb Life" sooner than later.

I mean, she was never released from the company because of her relation to The Rock until late 2021, and just because she's related to someone who has a legacy in wrestling, it doesn't mean that she can be like her relative.

It's not in the DNA, it's in the athleticsm, and that's what WWE seems to forget these days as common sense isn't a thing anymore.

It just bewilders me how Nia Jax is still around and is hurting women again with whoever she wrestles.

I dodged a bullet when she returned because I was asleep, and I'm super glad I missed it.

8. The Death of Proud N Powerful

Santana and Ortiz were my favorite tag team in AEW and I thought they were criminally underrated and should've been Tag Team Champs at least once.

They really grew on me since turning babyface in 2021 when they went to war alongside Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Jake "Don't Call Me Jack Swagger" Hager to take on FTR, Shawn Spears, Wardlow, and MJF, who I'm hoping has a speedy recovery and gets some much needed rest, even though he will miss most of 2024.

Anyway, Santana and Ortiz have been going strong as babyface since then and when Santana got hurt in the 2022 WarGames match, definitely not calling it "Blood And Guts", that's when things started to break down as the two would start to have heat for one another and Santana had the intention of going solo while Ortiz was happy with where he was at, and got paid a ton of money after all the years with the company.

Their mentor, Konnan, AKA Rey Mysterio's new adopted son, looking at you Dominick, I'll get to you as well you little bitch, he said on his "Keepin' It 100" podcast by saying,

"It breaks my heart because I spent a lot of time with them and I've said before that they're like my sons. I heard it almost got physical with Santana and Kingston over this. It's not a good look, bro. I really hate seeing that these two guys who could have gone to WWE and really fucking blown up, that they separated. I can see Santana when his contract is up, leaving. Ortiz is very chill and laid back. Santana is more of a hot head. Ortiz's was like, 'Hey, they ain't doing shit with us', and Santana's like, 'They ain't doing shit with us', and he's right. Ortiz is more like 'We're getting paid and are taken care of', and he was comfortable in his role and Santana wants more."

Now I can perfectly understand where Ortiz is saying because from a business standpoint, it is better to be happy than greedy, but then again, like Santana, there's a point where you have to want more of what you have going for yourself at the moment.

However, seeing the two not be together on my screen anymore, it's just upsetting, really, and I can't tell you how much of that really makes me sad because of where they're from, which happens to be New York, my home state.

And with Tony Kahn not doing anything about that situation, it brings me to my next point, to reinforce that opinion...

7. AEW = All Execrement Wrestling

Audible sigh.

I really hate talking about this as it's just a sad thing to see.

AEW was my second choice when I want to take a break from WWE and just watch the hardcore matches that they'd have because I want some blood in my wrestling, and they went from being the trendsetter to just being WCW 2.0.

I hate saying that but it's true. I mean, I didn't watch WCW growing up because I was born around the time when the NWO was becoming a big thing in wrestling, but I do know for a fact that it was not the best of business of that time. Now that it's happening again, it's no wonder why the ratings are and WWE is just beating AEW.

And Tony Kahn is no different than Vince Russo at this point and it's no surprise that he's lost his damn mind.

And you know what, I think I'm gonna move on from this because I already said enough about AEW.

Oh God...

6. CM Punk Returns To WWE

Now you can call me biased all you want because I absolutely despise Punk, but this is a good reason as to why I had to put him on here.

I already talked about it in my paper "The Brutal Downfall of CM Punk" in my rant book. Go check it out if you haven't already, because I'll keep this brief.

Ever since Brawl Out 2022, I've been finished with Punk and he just makes me want to stop watching the product.

Now, I've been hearing many different stories on what went down and how it all played into how Punk was being hated by everyone in the company.

And on August 2023, when AEW: All In happened, it was reported that Punk and Jungle Boy had a heated argument and a BRAWL IN before Punk went out to have his match with Samoa Joe.

Then, three weeks later, Punk was fired along with his friend Ace Steel.

Then, months later, at Survivor Series 2023, Punk made his shocking return to WWE, much to the delight of his home crowd of Chi-Town, much to the dismay of one Seth Rollins and yours truly.

When I saw this live with my family, I was like, "My cat is sick, I think she's dying. I'll see you later", basically an excuse to not witness the "greatness" of Punk's return to WWE after almost a decade and a day later, my cousin asked me, "How's your cat?"

So, yeah, that's all I can tell you about this part, and let's move the fuck on before I lose my sanity.

5. Every Roman Reigns Match

This was BULLSHIT when Roman defeated Cody at Wrestlemania and I still feel the effects of that loss to this day.

It really hurts that every match Roman Reigns wrestles in is just the same. It's predictable at this point with ref knocked down, Bloodline interferes, spear, and, checks notes, FUCK YOU BECAUSE I'M THE TRIBAL CHIEF AND YOU'RE ALL A BUNCH OF WRESTLING CUCKS!

Seriously though, I really hate Roman Reigns as much as I hate where Damage CTRL expanding for no reason...

...and AEW becoming WCW 2.0.

But this was the shit cherry on the shit cake for me personally, even though it's number five on this list.

I really don't care about Roman Reigns anymore. I don't care what matches he's gonna be in for this year. I don't care about him as a person outside the ring anymore. I am done with him.

I'd rather watch two blind people fight and when I yell, "He's got a knife", they scream and run in opposite directions away from each other because at least that's more entertaining than every Roman Reigns match at this point.

Sure, he's the main attraction for every WWE show, but if his longest Championship reign is gonna be shoved down my throat, then yeah, I'm gonna fucking hate him!

So fuck Roman Reigns, and fuck his title reign, and I hope Cody does win at Wrestlemania this year because if he does and Roman finally loses, I'm gonna have a smile on my face and a boner my pants!

But not for...

4. The Bloodline Storyline

This. Storyline. Fucking. Sucks.

I'm saying it, it sucks more than Riley Reid at a Christmas Party and it used to be so good and so fun to where it made sense.

And Jey and Jimmy turning on Roman and Solo on Smackdown was the best part of the story: the match at Moneh In The Bank was proof of that, but when Summerslam came around, it just hurts because it didn't make any sense!

Jey and Roman were facing off in a Tribal Rules match or whatever the fuck it was called and then Solo gets involved, simply because WWE didn't give ONE LUCK OF A FUCK!

Jey fought back and eventually took everyone out, splash from the top rope, and it was about to become a great victory celebration...

ONLY FOR JIMMY TO COST HIS BROTHER THE TITLE AND ROMAN CONTINUES HIS FUCKING CHAMPIONSHIP REIGN!

I mean, I've seen the concert, it was done.

And now let's move onto how...

3. Dominick Mysterio Is The Most Hated Asshole In The World

Sure, I'll give him credit where it's due: Dominick is one of the best heels in wrestling right now, but how he manages to be an absolute piece of shit is beyond me.

I loathe him so much to where he makes me want to put a gun to my head and blow my head off.

Well, if I did that, then my lady wouldn't be able to give me that kind of head.

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

Sorry kids. This is supposed to be a family friendly wrestling list.

Anyway, Dominick being North American Champion seriously didn't make me care about the title, only because of him dodging every opportunity he had to put it on the line and him taking it off of Trick Williams after just four days when he lost it to him.

I mean, when Dragon Lee finally won that title, I was so happy and I was super glad Dominick got his little ass beat by a luchador that was named after a mythical creature and a Civil War general.

Still, seeing Dominick get his ass bet every chance it happens brings me a bigger smile to my face and a bigger boner in my pants, and just makes me feel like the happiest guy on the planet earth.

However, still, I hate Dominick.

2. Sarray Was WWE's Biggest Mistake

I know that it's been months since it happened and people will tell me to let it go, so here's my response: I'll let it go... WHEN I DIE, NOT BEFORE, and let me explain why!

Anyway, when Sarray was signed to WWE in February 2020 I was interested in her, but when COVID came along, it turned the world upside down and there was no way we would see her until April 2021.

And, fun fact, that was when I created my Sarray fanfic "Warriors of The Sun", the original before I decided to release a remake of it recently, but I don't know if I can update it now only because the timing of releasing of that story was awful due to my lack of sense.

Anyway, Sarray would explode onto NXT and have many entertaining matches to where I thought she would be a contender for the NXT Women's Championship, but of course, HHH's cardiac scare happened, NXT2.0 happened, and she was casted off to the side for the other talent with no regard for her feelings.

I want you guys to understand that this girl was mentored and ENDORSED by the legendary Antonio Inoki, rest in peace, and was considered one of the best wrestlers in the world due to her Strong Style wrestling ability, but the creative team in NXT never mentioned her name throughout her time there as they repackaged her in a fucking schoolgirl outfit with a Clark Kent kinda gimmick that was so racist! It was so racist that I never felt so angry about it in my life!

Not to mention that ALM was and still is going on, so how out-of-touch did those assholes had to be!

And I'm not gonna talk about what happened next because all I can tell you is that she was never taken seriously after that since she was barely featured on TV. Not only that, if you're off of TV most of your time in the company, your character suffers and no one gives a fuck about you!

And in March of 2023, Sarray left! SHE LEFT ONCE HER CONTRACT EXPIRED!  And it sounded like she was happy to be out of WWE because they ditched her like she was yesterday's trash!

Thanks idiots! How fucking dare you!

1. Damage CTRL And The Fabulous Emancipation Of One Kabuki Warriors

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKK!!!!!

This hurts so much and I cannot tell you how pissed I was when I heard this actually happened.

I mean, I was really anticipating of the of the Pirate Princess, but when she continued to be a heel by aligning herself with Damage CTRL, it was one of the worst ideas I've ever seen to be quite honest with you and when Asuka joined, that was it for me!

You can't tell me differently here because the last time I checked, Asuka was feuding with DC over the title so for her to join them alongside Kairi, it made less sense than a ventilated condom and it was fucking maddening!

And even worse, Damage CTRL was never taken seriously and it was about to break up because of how they were being booked, but OF COURSE, the group is staying together and expanding!

Now it's coming on every week and being shoved down my throat as if it's the best thing since the second coming of Christ, which would explain why I haven't watched Smackdown because I'm waiting for the group to break up, thanks to reports that Asuka, Io, and Kairi are going to turn on Bayley and Dakota at some point.

Let's hope that's the case because until then, I ain't watching it! I'm done with that shit as it was one of the main reasons why I changed the ending to (probably) my best Io Shirai fanfic "Red Is For Love"!

And so, the big question is, am I coming back to wrestling, or just be done with it forever? Oh, I don't fucking know! Read the fucking list again and come up with your conclusion!

And that's my list! What an exciting ride that was! What was your least favorite wrestling moment of 2023?

Actually, have a nice fucking day! Go fuck yourself!
