05. noora's raptors

chapter five
- Noora's raptors

Noora was in a quiet jungly area, next to her father as he inspected the raptors, she was working with. Suddenly, a pig ran past, squealing with fright. it got through a gate, and it closed. They saw a raptor claw tapping impatiently.

"HOLD!" Noora yelled. The velociraptors obediently complied. They abruptly pulled to a halt.

"Hey!" Noora held her hands up "Okay!" Noora pressed a clicker "Eyes on me! Blue? Blue!" Noora yelled as She clicks the button once more. "Watch it. Charlie. Hey! Don't give me that shit! Delta! Lock it up! Good! And we're moving." Owen came into view as he watched them move forward slowly, towards his daughter.

He moved to where a basket hung from a railing.

"HOLD!" Noora yelled once more time, as they stopped.

"That's good. That is damn good." Owen yelled as Noora continued to press the clicker "Very good! See, Charlie, that's what you get!" he threw bait to Charlie, who promptly snatches it from the air. "Echo, there you go! Delta! Blue? This one's for you. HOLD! Eyes up! Go." Noora yelled before the raptors scattered

Owen was proud that his pack was starting to look at his daughter as part of them. On the platform above, hands are shaken and cheers were heard. Barry approached Owen.

"She finally did it, man"

Vic Hoskins appearedz "Owen. I was starting to think I hired the wrong guys, but, damn, you got them eating out of your and her palm" Vic looked at Noora who was smiling In victory.

"You came on a good day. It's not usually a happy ending." Noora said. As she gave Hoskins a disgusted look. She hated that man

"Is that why you're not sending in your reports?" Hoskins asked as he smiled at Noora

"We've been busy." Owen responded, hating the way Hoskins looked at Noora. It was obvious that he had an attraction to her but Noora didn't return it as she hated the fact that he wanted to control there raptors, not to mention there age difference.

"Not too busy to cash your paychecks." Owen clenched his jaw as Noora started to get angry. The raptors started to growl when they sensed the annoyance and rage.

"What do you need, buddy?" Owen asked

"A field test. Hey. I've just seen both your sets of raptors can do, they respond to commands. We need to take the research and get it on its feet." Noora rolled her eyes.

"These are wild animals, Hoskins. Trust me, you DON'T want them in the field." Owen said.

"I just saw a bond. A real bond. Between man and beast." Noora shoved past him.

"Oh don't give me that bullshit Hoskins, you want something out of this, so fess up asshat" Noora growled as she got protective of her so called beasts.

"You're in my way."

"Come on. We're the same. We're dogs of war. We know that the military needs to reduce casualties. Some people think that robots are the future. Look, nature gave us the most effective killing machines 75 million years ago. And now we know they can take orders." Noora scoffed at the unbelievable idea.

"Your crazy, have you ever thought that even though they can take commands from there alphas, there loyalties can also change?, we are talking about animals, not some guns you rely on. These are living beings, you can't control what they do or how they think" Noora snarled.

"We finally make progress and that's the first thing he says? Make a weapon?" A man named Barry commented. Noora agreed with the friend of her father.

"Shit. Come on, gents . . . and female, It's grown-up time. Drones can't search tunnels and caves. And they're hackable. The minute a real war breaks out, all that fancy tech is gonna go dark." Hoskins attempted to win them over once again, as he starting to grow exasperated.

"But that tech's not gonna eat them if they forget to feed it." Noora added.

"Look at these creatures." Hoskins pointed at the raptors. "They've got millions of years of instinct in their cells, instinct that we can program. Their loyalty cannot be bought. These guys are gonna run straight into the enemy's teeth and eat them, belt buckle and all." Noora laughed at his stupidity.

"Then what if they decide they wanna be in control? What happens if they want to rip you apart?" Noora asked. She saw fear flash through his eyes for a second before he regained his ignorance.

"Well, then we remind them who is. We terminate the rogues. Promote only loyal bloodlines. What? What's so funny?" Owen had started to laugh at Hoskins.

"I don't know. You come here and you don't learn anything about these animals except what you want to know. You made them, and now you think you own them, and then you come here, and disrespect my daughter then after she leaves your probably gonna attempt to persuade me to get her to program these dinosaurs. You never give up do you?" Owen asked.

"Oh, but we do own them. Extinct animals have no rights, not to mention this is daughters job and what I say, she has to do"

"They're not extinct anymore, Hoskins, and if you seem to forget she's in a high position than both of us, meaning she can get you fired for your idiotic beliefs" Owen reminded Hoskins

"We're sitting on a goldmine and Masrani is using it to stock a petting zoo. He just wants to teach people some humility. He doesn't make weapons. You think that the eighth richest man in the world is only into oil, telecom, and family fun parks? He's so diversified, he doesn't even know what he owns. How long has InGen been practicing this pitch? Since the day we hired you out of the Navy. You knew the end game. These animals can replace thousands of boots on the ground. How many lives would that save? War is part of nature. Look around, Owen. Every living thing in this jungle is trying to murder the other. Mother Nature's way of testing her creations. Refining the pecking order. War is a struggle. Struggle breeds greatness. Without that, we end up with places like this, charge seven bucks a soda." Hoskins ignored what Owen said about Noora, as he himself didn't want to admit it.

"Do you even hear yourself when you talk?" Noora asked, baffled by his idiotic tendencies.

"This is gonna happen. With or without you boys. Progress always wins, man." Hoskins said with no empathy.

"Maybe progress should lose for once." Owen said before he walked away. Noora and him soon grew alarmed as Leon had yelled "PIG LOOSE! PIG LOOSE!"
