Chapter Two

We don't bother knocking as Vienna and I enter the sitting room our men have decided to spend their evening relaxing in. Jonas's vest goes taut between his shoulders as they turn to look at us. I try not to make my lip biting too visible as their faces go pale. Vienna and I are determined. It's about damn time that we get some justice. Years ago, my mission was to make the Society pay for the pain they've caused me. I can settle for a few men instead.

Jonas turns back to his brother. "What did you do?" He asks dryly. Colton's head whips quickly between his brother, his girlfriend, and I, before swallowing.

"Is it bad that I have absolutely no clue?" He asks. Vienna rolls her eyes, before taking a seat on his lap. I secure my spot behind my husband's armchair, my arms wrapped around his chest. He kisses me on the cheek, and I smile.

"Nothing," Vienna states to Colton. "Well, you didn't do something, but that's a problem for another time."

"How was your trip?"

"Oh, just lovely." I turn my attention back on Jonas.

"You're reading a bill, written by us, at the next Senate meeting." I half expected the Blackwood men to spit out their drinks. There are two problems with that. One, they don't have drinks, and two, they seem like they are actually considering this idea.

"We cannot have random Society members write bills," Colton finally says. "Especially a former rebel," he says even quieter. Vienna softly elbows him in the ribs. I look at Jonas, who shifts in his seat.

"He's right." Jonas takes my hand as he sighs, subconsciously rubbing circles onto the back of my palm. "But, we can look through whatever you've got and write our own." Vienna and I smile.
