Chapter Eight

The Rosen's, Blackwoods, and I are hidden in the shadows of the maze. We all have a clear view of Colton dramatically sitting at the fountain, rubbing on his pant leg, but unless you knew we were there, no one at the entrance nor the fountain would be able to see us. The fountain and maze around us have been decorated with fairy lights, making the space an even more romantic place than it usually is. A voice yelling causes us to stop our breathing.

"Colton!" His head snaps up, standing with it. I don't think I've ever seen him this nervous. I didn't even know the arrogant fool got nervous. That's more Jonas's thing. Jonas wraps his arms around my waist like he knows what I'm thinking. "Colton!" Vienna yells again, walking into sight, her red hair almost glowing under the moonlight. His breath stops, before he slowly walks to her, meeting her in the middle. "You needed me?" She asks, looking up at him. Colton swallows, taking her hand, and leading her to the fountain, where they take a seat. He smiles.

"I always need you, Vienna." She raises an eyebrow.

"What do you want?" Colton takes a deep breath.

"If you were to ask me if I believed in love at first sight, I would say that I do. I didn't before I met you, but before I met you, Vienna, I had never felt it. Vienna, I have loved you since the night we met. Since we fell into this fountain. I've imagined growing old by your side, holding our newborn at the hospital, meeting those beautiful green eyes as you walk down the aisle." He brushes a lock of hair behind her ear. "Darling, I want to experience that with you. All of it with you. The good and the bad." Colton takes a deep breath, dropping down onto the concrete with one knee, his hands still holding onto hers. "I've never been good with words. Especially when I'm with you. You're my soulmate, Vienna. My star-crossed lover. Please, please do me the honor of becoming my wife. I want to spend the rest of your life at your side. I've already missed so much, I can't stand to miss any more." He takes the box out of his pocket, opening it, keeping one hand in hers. "Vienna Ronen, will you marry me?" Vienna wipes a tear from her eyes, nodding.

"Yes, Colton. Obviously yes!" He wipes his cheek, face soaked, and stands, pulling her close, taking her face in his hands, and kissing her.

"I love you, Vienna. I love you, I love you, I love you." He adds a kiss around her face after every sentence. "And if it didn't sink in, I am truly, utterly, in love with you." She laughs, her arms wrapped around the back of his neck.

"I love you too."
