-A werewolf is a human(oid) being who has the ability to change their anatomy to a wolf. This kind of shifter is the most common and most abundant of all shifter kind. They all range in size, shape, and various other traits that make them unique. Even though they are the most commonly found were-species they are subspecies to Lycans from split bloodlines.
Werewolves are pack animals and even those who are 'lone wolves' tend to be naturally drawn to those of their own species.

-Lycans are said to be the 'first' of the wolf like shifters. They have the upper hand ability to stand on their back legs and keep their composure. Lycans, even though they can be found in various places, are not as commonly seen as a normal werewolf. With a lack of numbers it is all made up for by their more brutal strength.
Lycans are rumored to be the natural enemy to vampires and it is often said that these creatures were specially crafted by the Goddess to fight off the natural enemy.

-Werebears are the largest of all were-beings and shifters. They fall in to the highest weight and size category but their numbers severely lack. Werebears are human(oid) beings that have the ability to shift in to bears. With this species it is especially hard for a bite to stick and the rate to actually be turned to a werebear is around 30%. With this subspecies being large and brutal they are said to be protectors of packs.
Throughout the years of more extensive hunting done to them the werebears have greatly scattered or most of them have gathered in part of the Alaskan wilderness. These shifters are most commonly hunted and their numbers are heavily dwindling.

-Werecats are human(oid) beings that have the ability to transform to those of 'big cat' species. A werecat is uncommon, though not completely unheard of to where they are an anomaly. Werecats have the least amount of numbers to their kind. It is unknown why their numbers are so low but it is a 1:200 chance of coming across one. This species is the least common to join groups or form something considered a 'pack'. Werecats tend to hold advantages over other were-beings by a more heightened eyesight and thicker claws compared to the rest. This species is highly hunted.

-A half-shifter is not a half breed. A half-shifter are those of the shifter species but they lack the ability to fully shift in to their kind. This can range from all the above but every half-shifter may be different. A half-shifter is typically created through a failed bite or an abnormality within their mother's womb.
A half-shifter is not as strong as any of their were-creature counterparts. Depending on their genetics they may only be able to protract claws, protract teeth, change eye color, grow extra body hair, etc. A half-shifter is unable to fully change in to their animal form simply because they are not genetically able.

"Outsider" shifters is an umbrella term for the much more rare anomalies that occur in the shifter world. This could mean shifters that can turn in to a fox or something of the canine species that isn't part of the wolf bloodline. This can also mean a broad variety of different kinds of shifters.
This can even mean those who have the ability to shift in to animals of prey such as deer or elk.
*These shifters are a rarity and are extremely uncommon.

-Pure Bloods(Breds):
A Pure Blood, or a Pure Bred, are any of the shifters that were born as a shifter rather than created by one. This doesn't have to mean you come from a huge bloodline but rather you are just born as a were-creature.
A Pure Blooded shifter with an extensive family lineage dating further back are usually stronger in some ways than others. For example; if a were-creature has a family lineage dating back several generations they are going to typically hold an advantage over someone who has one or two generations back.
This isn't stronger as in physicality but rather a deeper sense of their animalistic side. This can hold advantage depending on the situation.

-The Bitten
A bitten shifter is as obvious as it states. A bitten shifter can be bitten at any age but typically babies and children cannot hold the bite due to infections. When someone is bitten by another shifter it will (usually) cause the bit person to turn in to a shifter themselves.

-Half Breeds (bloods)
A half breed, or a half-blood are shifters that are a mixed species. Examples are:
Werewolf/vampire
Werewolf/human
Lycan/vampire
Etc.
A Half breed still may have the ability to shift while others, do not. A half-breed, though it can be confusing, can also be a half-shifter depending on their abilities.
A half breed can only be born and not created through a bite. This means if a werewolf is bitten by a vampire they won't be able to become a half-breed.

-The Gifted
A gifted shifter is a rare occurrence that can happen at random. Those who are gifted can either be born gifted or are given a 'gift' later in life as collateral to the opposing side of their scale.
A gifted shifter is one that is given a special ability as a chosen right. The highest gifted, and unchallenged by most, were the Priests and Priestesses of Old.
Those who are not born with a gift and one randomly forms up later in life are categorized as 'Scales' and this is for a reason. A 'Scale' is a shifter who was granted a gift to counteract someone who recently became Cursed. As long as the Cursed One that the Gifted shifter is strangely connected to, lives, their gift will remain.
It is incredibly hard to determine if someone was born with a gift or is considered a 'Scale'. All Gifted Ones are said to be vessels for the Goddess or the other Gods based around her.

-Cursed Ones
The "Cursed ones" were once a part of the were-species. They could have once been human-like but now they're just shells of their former selves. To become a cursed one is simply put like this:
You have to do something absolutely vile and horrific to be this. Small things mean nothing. Big unholy things, mean something. A cursed were-creature is stripped of their animal/spiritual side and will deform the human side of the person. Other times it will be the opposite where they are stripped of their human soul and are forced to live the rest of their lives as nothing more than an animal.
If a Cursed One is determined to be too horrible or dangerous a Shifter at random will be given a gift. Since Cursed ones aren't that common the rarity for a randomized 'Scale' is very high.

-The Lovers of Gaia

It is said that the lovers of Gaia took refuge in the skies above. Her lover of the day, Sol, was set to move the seasons. He granted the Earth new life every year after long falls and harsh winters. He would burn brightly in the day; a sign that warmth would always come.
Her second lover, Luna, took much closer placement to Gaia. The Moon Goddess accepted Gaia's children with love. All the humans, the animals, the planet. Luna, however, created children of her own. Children who could embody that of a man and that of a great beast. They were protectors of Gaia from the unnatural forces that roamed.
Luna is said to be the mother of wolves. It is said that she embodies the Moon as a sign she protects the Earth. Her light guides those in the darkest of nights. The stars are a blanket of the lost souls that have joined the Moon Goddess. May one day, you join her in the heavens.
Luna's eldest daughters granted the wolves their gifts. If it had not been for them, a werewolf would be useless.

-The Bear Prince

Considered one of the earliest gods, he is one of many up in the higher ranks with the goddess. His story is said that he is one of the many children of the Goddess and is one of her main guardians. Long lost his name is is often referred to as The god prince, Bear prince, or the Wolf Guardian. After the Goddess birthed him he was granted the ability to transform into any of the 8 bear species. He was also never given a human form. All of his children were mortals, each one granted the ability to transform into one of the 8 bears. Long after that Werebears came to be and the bloodlines thinned out. It was said that if a bear shifter is given or stumbles upon a pack it is a blessing of protection. During the Bear Prince's life he often protected the goddess and her wolf like children. He was a great warrior and his children were soon granted as guardians of Packs. If a pack is granted a Bear shifter it is rumored that the Goddess herself favors them. Due to the Bear Prince being considered an equal to his mother is was declared that is children and their offspring would not have to submit to those in the highest of ranks of wolves. It is, however, declared that if a bear shifter finds a mate they will submit their soul to their partner. This is the law of the bears and the way of the God Prince.

-The Wolf Brothers

Long ago there were two brothers. Sons of the Goddess, the two brothers were one of the few first of her children. These brothers were part of the same coin, two werewolves who loved and adored their mother. The Elder brother was at peace with himself and the other form he had. The younger brother, was not.
When the world began to grow with light and darkness, days and nights, the younger brother grew bored of sitting in the heavens with his family. As a trick, he threw a party for all of his siblings and he snuck away to the Earth.
Bored, he fell wanting more with life so he explored the earth in his wolf form for several months. He searched the earth for a better form in hopes he could find it. In these months he hadn't known his Elder brother had been traveling behind him.
During the younger brother's journey he'd come across many creatures but it wasn't until he came across the 'normal' wolves that he felt normal. His time with them was spent hunting and exploring until the day where a vampire attacked his newfound pack. As he fought back, his Elder brother joined him, and soon the elder sibling prayed to his mother for a stronger form. The Elder brother was gifted with the first lycan form and fought the vampire.
As a divine settlement for the change in form the Elder brother would fight the vampire every day for the rest of eternity. The younger brother traveled back to the heavens and grew to accept his wolfish form.
