Han-Jo is genuinely a giant sweetheart of a guy. Despite being big, muscular, and intimidating, Han-Jo is someone so sweet that he won't even hurt a bug. He's a bit quiet, a bit shy, but when needed or desired he can be very talkative and approachable. Han-Jo is a big people person and he loves to be in crowds even if he's not much of a conversationalist.
More often than not, Han-Jo is best at being a big guard dog instead of someone jumping directly in an argument or fight. He is a pacifist in every which way and he truly struggles with picking sides.
When Han-Jo makes friends he can be especially clingy, and platonically touchy if allowed. With men, though, Han-Jo struggles heavily with any form of initiative. Talking, touching, whatever, his mind goes blank around men especially if he finds them attractive.

Han-Jo Bai was born in the United States under a second generation of South Korean immigrants. Han-Jo was also born with a purpose- an old tradition of forced marriage that would gain favor for his family and allow them to join a high class pack back in South Korea. Truly, his parents and extended family saw him only as a being created for eventual marriage and with that came a strict and abusive life.
At a young age his parents, uncles, and aunts as well as his cousins were set on enforcing the idea of marriage in his head. At first it started with dolls then eventually it led to Han-Jo having to read marriage papers as forms of homework or "fun" reading time. It wasn't until he was thirteen that he received pictures of his one day bride. Though she was beautiful in her own right, Han-Jo had his own secret. Han-Jo knew even at a younger age that he was homosexual. Having a bride wasn't in his books and as he grew older the more he began to rebel against the idea.
When Han-Jo was sixteen he finally had enough and when he admitted his homosexuality to his parents a new hell was unleashed upon him. His abuse grew more physical and isolation became his biggest forms of punishment. Han-Jo was forbidden from having male friends and was even forbidden to seeing his male cousins from how deep the homophobia settled in his parents' minds.
Despite his lack of desire to marry a woman he still one day met his bride, Jiho, and they married one another. Through his years of frustrations and unhappiness he did admit to Jiho that he was a gay man. To his surprise Jiho admitted to her own sexuality and with that a plan devised between the two of them. The two of them remained living together for two years which one of those years Jiho became purposefully pregnant. To convince their families they were "in love" they did this then later Jiho and Han-Jo agreed to get an abortion and run away together.
When Han-Jo was twenty four he managed to snag a job on the Sea Dogs' ship to which he brought Jiho with him so they could both lose contact with their families. Now, years later, that's where they remain.
