Chapter 2: Ethan

"No Pokemon allowed?" I screech. "Why?"

"Sir, this is a sophisticated restaurant. We can't have pets in here," the manager says, spitting out the word 'pet' like it's a rotten egg.

"Oh, fine, then. Just hate the entire community of Pokemon trainers!" I yell as I stomp out of the restaurant. "We can eat somewhere where we're appreciated, Wildfire." I tell my Houndour, stroking his warm fur.

We stroll through the peaceful yet noisy city of Oreburgh City for a while, listening to the faint clanging coming from the mines for a while until we come across an inviting-looking cafe. In fading red paint, Come on Inn and Have a Bite Bed and Breakfast is scrawled on the wooden building. The shack is taller than it is wide, but not by too much. "This looks nice enough. It at least looks Pokemon-friendly." I mutter to Wildfire.

As we enter the little shack, we're greeted by a burst of warm air. I look to my right and notice a cozy-looking fireplace with a blazing fire in it. Compared to the temperature outside that's starting to drop from a bearable fall to a soon frigid winter, the toasty fire is amazing. Besides the fireplace, the wooden walls with hand-painted canvases hanging on them lightens the mood of the darkly lit lobby. There's a small lamp on the counter and a single lightbulb hangs from the ceiling, suspended from a wobbly piece of wire are the only light sources in the room, save the fire, of course.

"Hi, welcome to the Have a Bite Inn! That's just we call it for short, of course." The hostess at the front desk quickly greets me with a smile. "If you have any questions, comments, jokes, or anything else, I'm always here. I'll be impressed if you have any jokes for me. And I know it's not really time for most people to be sleeping, but you can rent a room now and just hang out there or explore the city if you're a tourist, or you can stay in the lobby and enjoy the fire. As you can probably tell, we're a pretty laid-back place."

"Uh, are Pokemon allowed?" I ask, walking up to the desk. Now that I get a better look at her, I can tell that she's maybe 3 or 4 years older than me, if that. Or maybe her two dark brown braids resting on her shoulders and large, inviting eyes make her look young.

"Of course! We love Pokemon! In each room, we have some disposable bowls for food and water with some small portions of food for pets and, for an extra 30 Pokeyen you can rent a Pokemon bed for your partners!" She explains, talking quickly.

I grin. After asking a few more questions, I glance down at Wildfire, who's curled up next to the fireplace. "Well, I think we're gonna go explore the city a little more but we'll be back soon." I start walking toward the door with Wild close behind me. As I open the door, I turn around quickly. "What's the fastest way to resuscitate someone? Meowth to Meowth."
