Wouldn't It Be Nice
I ain’t no hippy,
But wouldn’t it be nice if we weren’t so lippy?
I ain’t so gobby,
But wouldn’t it be nice if we all found a new hobby?
I ain’t got a bad attitude,
But wouldn’t it be nice if we all showed a bit more gratitude?
I ain’t got a lot of time,
But wouldn’t it be nice if we spent it on something worthwhile instead of petty crime?
I ain’t so bitchy,
But wouldn’t it be nice if our amount of good deeds weren’t so titchy?
I ain’t got much cash to spend,
So wouldn’t it be nice if we saved and shared instead of splashing out on the latest trend?
I ain’t so perfect,
But can you imagine the consequence, the effect,
If we said it was our fault, took responsibility,
Owned up, showed some sensibility?
So here it is: I’m an ungrateful waster, a criminal, real lippy,
I’m gobby, a show off, seriously bitchy,
Now that wasn’t so challenging, really hard,
And I haven’t been struck down, punished, scarred.
Here’s a little secret, people appreciate honesty,
Whether you told a fib or committed an atrocity,
For it’s only when you admit it, that the guilt ends
And it’s then, and only then, that you can begin to make amends.
