prologue
It is a Wednesday afternoon. Livestelb Dane Ignacio woke up from a long nap, and the thing placed on her roommate's bedside table caught her attention. There was a brand new literary book compilation from their student publication's February issue.
How come that something short-lived seemingly lasted so long? The title as she read from the first literary write up after scanning the table of the contents. She did not know what to react. It even made her wonder if she's not just hallucinating because that is something she could quote out from her recent experience.
She shook her head and never let the trauma she's gone through take over again.
“OnlyFromHisShadow13?”
Her forehead creased at that weird of a writer's name. Then she decided to continue reading the literary piece.
“For a moth like me that is easily drawn into the charm a fire has got, I'm the most vulnerable above all.
But how can somebody like me endures keeping close to something that burns? Icarus died because his wax-made wings melted by the heat of the sun. I presume that it would happen to me too. That is what a burning love can give—a raging anticipation that eventually turns into a complete annihilation.
He says I'm perfect for him.
He says I'm all he's longingly wanting.
He says I'm the beat of his cocaine heart. But how come it all changed when I'm not the one they wanted for him to love? I can't take all the blame because he initiated to light up that flame.
Sabrina Carpenter could believe me when he said that I'm beautiful, but was I being lied to? Because I'm absolutely far from her. She's got everything that I can't live without.
If only I was her.”
With that first part alone, she was already invested. It is not the boredom that made her feel that way, but the realness of the diction of such a write-up.
“Who could this be about?,” Livestelb asked herself with her heart started beating so fast and wild.
