Chapter 40: Sadness
[Name] sighed as he slowly entered the room that he had come to know as his home. His mind was filled with different ideas and thoughts. So many things all swirling together and mixing together just adding to his confusion. [Name] looked around his room and noticed how dirty it was. As he did he couldn't help but let his mind begin to wander once again as he saw this.
'Has this room always been this dirty? I guess I never thought of it because of how dirty the rest of the house is, but even so, why have I never done anything about this place. People are messy when they're comfortable but even so . . . None of this seems like it's mine.' [Name] thought to himself as he walked over to his bed looking around.
'I've got so many memories of this place, so many memories of Ragyo and the others. But even so . . . why does this place not make me happy? It feels more like an empty box than a home,' [Name] thought as his head pounded with pain and he reached up to grab it trying to keep the pain from increasing.
[Name] groaned in pain as the throbbing slowly stopped and he sighed. At this point, his headaches were starting to get worse, and something he found noteworthy was the fact they only came when he started thinking about certain topics. This to him was more than suspicious and something that he knew he needed to figure out. However, it was hard to figure it out when every time he tried to think that wave of pain flooded his system.
[Name] eventually sighed and began to lay down on his bed. 'Maybe sleeping will help?' were his final thoughts as he began to slowly fall asleep. After a bit [Name] woke up with a sudden gasp and lunged forward, looking around a bit panicked as he did. However, when he saw where he was he quickly relaxed. He was once again in this solid white plane. He had been coming here a lot when he slept but recently his visits have become rarer.
[Name] eventually stood up and began to walk the plane looking for a figure that he had come to know as his friend. It took a few minutes of searching but after a bit, he did eventually find him. "There you are," [Name] said as he looked at the male in front of him. Hideo smiled as he looked at the male in front of him.
"You're here earlier than I expected. Calling it an early day?" Hideo asked as he looked at the male in front of him.
"Something like that," [Name] said as he walked over to the male. "Be honest, you know what's going on don't you?" [Name] asked as he looked at Hideo.
"You say that like you don't," Hideo said as he looked at [Name] causing him to look away.
"I'd like to think that I do, but here lately . . . I don't know what to think anymore," [Name] said as he slowly began to sit down on the ground. "I've got Ragyo telling one thing, and Ryuko telling me another. My memories are siding with Ragyo, but at the same time, I find myself being more relaxed around Ryuko and the others. The more I think about it the more my head hurts, and I just . . . I don't know what to think anymore," [Name] said as he looked at him.
"I just want someone to tell me what's right and what's wrong. Someone I know I can trust without having to second guess myself every time I take a step. I hate this! I HATE IT! I HATE BEING THIS CONFUSED! I HATE HAVING TO FIGHT WITH MYSELF OVER WHAT MY HEAD AND FEELINGS ARE TELLING ME! I HATE IT!" [Name] screamed as he looked at the ground. He truly was getting frustrated at this point.
"I know what you mean," Hideo said as he placed his hand one [Name]'s shoulder. [Name] grit his teeth hearing this and turned to swing at the male. As he did Hideo jumped out of the wave but the shockwave from [Name]'s swing still sent him back slightly. "WHAT THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW!" [Name] screamed as he began to rush forward towards the male in front of him.
"A lot more than you would think," Hideo said as he looked at the male causing him to grit his teeth and rush forward to attack.
"You can't understand how this feels!" [Name] said as he continued to attack having no choice but to watch as his opponent dodged the attacks with an impressive amount of skill. "To be surrounded by people claiming to be your friends, and at the same time feel so alone. To want to be useful to others, and yet feel so helpless!" [Name] continued launching attack after attack the power slowly rising and becoming more intense as he did.
"To have people claim they want to help! Only to abandon you the next moment! Slowly being forgotten and left behind!" [Name] said as tears began to build up in his eyes.
"To feel completely fine around others, and then have a crushing weight on your shoulders when you're alone," Hideo said causing [Name] to stop attacking for a moment. "To think you know what's right, only to be proven wrong again and again. Hoping that the way forward will show itself only to remain hidden behind some unseen force," Hideo said as he looked down at the ground with a slight smile. "Trust me, I really do understand the feeling all too well," Hideo said as he looked down at the ground.
When he said this [Name] grit his teeth and tightened his fist before eventually falling down to the ground tears now falling from his face. As he did Hideo smiled and walked up to him once again placing a hand on his shoulder. "It's okay to cry, but never despair. I understand how you're feeling I really do, but now's not the time for that. I know how devastated you must be having to constantly fight with yourself. I know it's painful, and I know you want to scream," Hideo said as he looked at [Name].
"What you need now is the same thing I needed to get by. I had something to hold onto, and it will eventually become my unswerving drive to take action. At times like this, you can't afford to have a fragile resolve. The bridge to success is always under construction which is why it's up to us to move forward and find our own path," Hideo said as he looked at the male in front of him.
"I know right now it hurts, and you're confused. But you just have to trust that things will get better. I know that's what everyone says at times like this, but that's what faith is. It's moving forward without knowing. When in doubt just listen to what your heart has to say on the matter," Hideo said as he looked at the male in front of him. [Name] could barely see through his tears at this point but still tried to fight the urge to let of them fall.
"It's okay to be scared and confused, and when in doubt just listen to your heart," Hideo said as he looked at the male in front of him.
"I'm trying but my heart never says anything! It's just silent," [Name] said as he looked up at the male in front of him.
"I know, just give it time. Not all of us are vocal after all, and even if we are were not always the best at making decisions," Hideo said as he looked at the male in front of him. "Just wait that's all I'm asking. And you're gonna need it now more than ever. Because . . . this is going to be the last time I'm able to talk to you, or at least it is for a while," Hideo said as he looked at the male in front of him. When he said this [Name] looked up at him more than surprised.
"When will you be back?" [Name] asked as he looked at the male in front of him.
"I don't know," Hideo said with a smile as his hands began to slowly fade. "Ah, looks like I got less time than I thought," Hideo said with a smile as he looked at [Name]. "It's okay because even if I'm not here, this place will be. Feel free to come here any time you need to. No worries, no stress, and most importantly no headaches," Hideo said as he finished fading from sight. [Name] grit his teeth hearing this and slammed his fist on the ground because once again he was alone with no one to turn to.
However, in a household and clinic not so far away Ryuko was just beginning to fall asleep as well. It wasn't long before her mind went blank and she was completely asleep. However, as she did she could hear a vaguely familiar voice in the back of her head. It was quiet and barely qualified as a whisper but she could hear it nonetheless. "I know this is hard, but you're strong so I have a request for you," Hideo said in the back of her mind.
"Please wait, just a little longer. I know you're breaking while you fall asleep, and I know you're still haunted by the memory. Please trust me when I say I'm trying to fix him piece by piece. I just need a little more time. Because underneath it all he's held captive by a hole inside. And he's still holding back from the fear you might change your mind. Please wait, just wait. And he'll love you like he never felt the pain. I promise after that you won't have to be afraid, just wait, please wait," Hideo said as he continued to speak to her.
"The love you saw is there to stay. He's just having a hard time remembering because all his mistakes are slowly drowning him. And like I said I'm trying to make it better piece by piece. After that I promise, he'll love you until the sun dies. Please wait, just wait," Hideo said as his voice slowly vanished from her mind.
