USJ Aftermath:Reactions
Before we start I did add a few paragraphs to the last chapter, nothing major just a couple of things I missed.
The assault on the USJ was all that was on the news for the next couple of days, all the news stations and sites were reporting on it, speculating on the villains, questioning how they even got in with a fair bit of criticism being leveled towards UA for allowing it to happened.
Izuku and his classmates were not left out, the news stations praising and complimenting the four members of class 1a for not only surviving but capturing over 80 villains while also eliminating 10 bioweapons. True 2 of the villains did manage to escape but none of the news outlets seemed to be holding the students responsible for it.
Speaking of the news outlets, while everyone was reporting on the USJ, almost all of it was second hand information taken from the one interview that had been given by raisin or Hinata Sano. Aside from her UA had silent on the matter and denied any other information since then.
UA had been shut down for the past two days to ensure there were no other security risk and to take stock at the USJ before the school reopened tomorrow.
Currently Izuku was laying on the roof of the apartment building he and his mother lived at, hands behind his head and simply watching the sky as he did what he had been doing for the past two days. Going over everything that had happened at the USJ.
That was the first real taste of hero work he and the others had ever truly faced and even then questions flooded his mind. Was staying and fighting the best course of action? Should they have tried to head to each zone and look for the ones responsible for trapping them and the teachers? Should the 4 of them stayed close to each other when fighting or was it better that they fought individually since they weren't used to each others's fighting style?
Questions like this ran through his head on loop, and the more he thought about it the more frustrated he became. Sighing he shook his head to try and clear his thoughts as he sat up. 'And to top it all off that's not even the thing bugging me the most.' He thought with a scowl as he raised and examined his hand which after a few seconds began to give off a faint green glow.
When Izuku had explained his quirk to his friends he had left out a part of it. Whenever a new door unlocked his body would undergo a change. It would get stronger, faster, more durable and nimble. Overall more like the fighter from both the Ragnarok tournament and the God's Apocalypse. This time it as different however. Sure his strength and durability massively multiplied due to the door opening and due to who was behind the door it wasn't to surprising.
What did come as a shock was the shift that came with his magic. Most of the gods' magic was mostly directed to their domain. Izuku's however was in a way pure, not bound to a single type or category. Izuku's magic could still access all his abilities freely, nothing became any harder to use then they had been before. Still something had began to change. It started shift slightly as well as increase in quaintly. And if it kept growing and changing like this whenever more of those doors opened, Izuku had more to worry about than some thugs who thought they were the next great villains.
Still that wasn't the only new addition to his arsenal. In addition to the new doors opening he also copied well over a dozen quirks from villains at the USJ that would have to be tested and see which ones could be of use. However at the moment the clones were still the best part. Highly durable, capable of using his powers and whatever knowledge they learned he would learn as well.
Though Izuku still needed to test if he would gain any quirk the clone alone copied.
The buzzing of his cellphone dragging him from his thoughts but brought a frown to his face. It didn't take long for people to find his social media and bombard him with messages all of kinds.
There were the standard questions asking if he and the others were all right, or telling him how awesome it was he and his friends were for facing off against villains. Izuku couldn't lie that part was kinda awesome, especially when he saw some of these were from some top tier heroes.
And although Izuku knew that it was either from a sense a guilt or the fact he's now a teacher, Izuku couldn't help but feel giddy about the fact that All Might was now following him.
However that didn't take in to account the negatives that came with. The taunts from the trolls, the threat either real or fake that the villains would get him next time or the boast that they could do it better with their eyes closed.
These were for the most part easily ignored and left answered, only deleting the commit if it got to vulgar, the typical way you deal with trolls. However he couldn't help but feel particularly irrated by the last one since he could tell the ones sending them were first year UA students like him.
They were actually jealous that he and his friends lives were put in danger, and Izuku was sorely tempted to tell them if they wanted to go fight some villains then they were more then welcome to.
Releasing a sigh and figuring he had nothing really to lose he picked up the phone, turned it on and signed in relief when he saw it was the chat group he and his friends had set up.
JIrou: Hey if you guys are up for it, mind meeting me at beach not far from here? I can send you the address.
Shoji: I can make it, be there shortly.
Tokoyami/Dark Shadow: The air has been stifling at our domain we shall depart immediately./Translation we're on our way.
Midoriya: Be there in a few.
With his confirmation given Izuku got to his feet and made his way down to his apartment and after going quietly in side he found his mom watching the news. Sighing he lightly cleared his throat flinching slightly when he saw her jump and turn to him. "Oh it's you Izuku!" She said calming down before getting up and coming over. "Is everything okay dear?"
Izuku nodded while trying to fight down the guilt that welled up inside. His mother was strong woman who usually stood tall, especially when it came to her job as lawyer. But these last 2 days were the first time he had ever seen her so hunched over and appearing so small.
The woman came over to him but stoped just short of touching him, like she was afraid that by touching him he would shatter like glass. "Is everything okay honey?" She questioned nervously, her eyes darting around as if expecting an attack.
Swallowing the guilt Izuku answered. "Everything's fine mom. It's just that I'm meet my friends at the beach that's close by." Izuku told the woman whose eyes had a bit of the shine return to them. "Oh that's wonderful." She replied cheerfully. "You've been coped up here the last couple of days and I think some fresh air could do you some good." She told him even though it was clear she wasn't entirely happy about leaving.
Izuku still smiled, grateful she was letting him go despite her fears. Gently he wrapped his arms around her. "Thanks mom. and don't worry. I'll be okay, I promise." He told her woman who slowly wrapped her arms around her son. "I know you will Izuku, I'm just worried." She admitted and Izuku could tell she was on the verge of tears.
A state that she had been in for the past two days.
"But I know you're going to be okay." Inko continued. "You're so strong, and you've trained harder than anyone for years, wanted to be a hero more than anyone for years. I've known this was going to a realty someday, but still now that it's come all my fears are coming rushing back." She said pulling away from Izuku and know she was fully crying.
"So promise me, promise me that no matter what happens, no matter the danger, that you'll always come home." The request finished with Izuku calmly resting his forehead against hers. "Of course I will." He answered softly. "I've got to much to lose to let myself die, and to many people to leave behind. I won't be going anywhere any time soon, I promise." Izuku swore to his mother who sniffed and wiped her eyes.
"Thank you Izuku, thank you." She whispered. "Now go meet up with your friends, you don't want to keep them waiting." She managed a smile as she said this with Izuku giving one in return. "I'll be back." He told her before turning around and heading out of the apartment.
Line break
Izuku had been the first to arrive at the beach and after waiting at the stairs for a few minutes he tuned his head to the sounds of a bike apparhlcing and saw Fumikage arriving. "Midoriya." He greeted as Dark Shadow emerged with a raised hand. "Sup, you the first one here?" She asked getting a nod from Izuku. "Yeah got here about 5 minutes ago." He told the 2 before a comfortable silence enveloped them.
Shoji was the next to arrive, giving a silent, multi armed wave as a greeting, with Fumikage and Izuku giving nods in return. The 3 teens and 1 quirk waited in silence and other then Dark Shadow crossing her arms and tapping her finger somewhat impatiently no one really made a move.
Finally about 10 minutes after Tokoyami had arrived Jirou had appeared. "Hey." She muttered panting slightly. "Sorry my dad wasn't exactly thrilled at me leaving the house." Jirou apologized. "Don't worry about it Jirou we weren't waiting long." Izuku told the girl. "Yeah well uhh. thanks for coming." Jirou muttered awkwardly while scratching her cheek.
"Well sorry for calling you out here so suddenly, it's just that I can't get what happened out of my head. Hell I'm even dreaming about it." She admitted and upon inspection they could make out faint bags under eyes hastily covered with make up.
"So you figured the best corse of action would be to speak with the only ones who could possibly relate." Fumikage nodded both in understanding and approval. "I will admit I have been rather hesitate to speak on what happened with my mother and father so it's fortunate to finally speak about this." The bird headed boy admitted with Dark Shadow grunting. "They're already stressed enough with their usual jobs, the last thing they need is for us to add to that weight." The quirk muttered sadly wilting at the thought.
"My folks actually wanted to move in with me. I had to convince them to stay at home and keep running the store." Mezo told his fiends, looking away with guilt in his eyes. Izuku grunted as he ran his hand through his hair. "Yeah my mom's been jumping at the smallest thing recently, and I've caught her following me around the house, as if she was scared I would disappear." Izuku grunted once more self loathing filling him.
No one said anything for a while, no one knowing what to say. Everyone feeling about a hundred different things and yet none knew how to exactly put it into words. Surprisingly it was Kyoka that was the one to finally break the silence. "Well this really is terrible isn't it?" She questioned the hints of a laugh in her voice as she descended the steps and fully onto the beach.
"It was our third heroics lesson and we get attacked by villains, seriously what kind of rotten luck is that?" She questioned and now everyone could hear the laughter. "Jirou?" Mezo asked concern evident in his tone as Fumikage and Izuku watched in worry.
"I mean really 4 freshmen trapped in a building, vastly outnumbered by villains, and zombeis can't forget the zombies, all the while having to defend our teachers that couldn't even move a muscle. All to try and kill All Might who wasn't even there like he was supposed to be!" She said fully laughing now, a laugh like she was told one of the funniest things she's heard in a while.
The boys were growing more and more worried but none of them said anything, not wanting to be the one to set off what they knew was coming. And as Jirou's laughter grew quieter and quieter, the boys tensed up with Dark Shadow retreating back into Fumikage.
And then after Kyoka had gone completely silent and still and the boys dared to breath did it finally happened.
"GOD DAMN IT!" Kyoka roared to the heavens as she kicked a sand done apart. "WHAT KIND OF FUCKING BULLSHIT WAS THAT?! OUR FORTH DAY! OUR FORTH FUCKING DAY, AND WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH AN ENTIRE INVASION OF VILLAINS! SCREW THAT AND EVERY LAST ONE OF THOSE FUCKERS TO HELL!" Kyoka was practically spitting fire as she continued to stomp on the ground.
"J-Jirou maybe you should take a breath and calm down." Mezo suggested only for Kyoka to turn her rage towards him. SCREW CALMING DOWN! I'VE BEEN CALM FOR THE PAST TWO DAYS SO IF I WANT TO SHOUT I'M GOING TO SHOUT! I'M PISSED RIGHT NOW AT RIGHT NOW AND IT'S DIRECTED AT A LOT OF PEOPLE!" She continued to roar and the boys at this point realized it was best to just let her vent.
"I'M PISSED AT THOSE VILLAINS WHO THOUGHT ATTACKING A BUNCH OF FIRST YEARS WOULD DO ANYTHING BUT PROVE WHO BOTTEM OF THE BARREL THEY WERE! I MEAN FOR FUCK'S SAKE AT LEAST GROW SOME BALLS AND GO AFTER SEOCND YEARS! AT LEAST THOSE TEENAGERS HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE UNDER THEIR BELTS! She screamed before taking a deep breath through her nose.
"All Might's also pretty high up on my list. You heard why he was late right? He was dealing with a numerous emergencies that day. Pretty heroic and a decent excuse right?" She asked her tone full of mockery before her glare retuned full force. "Not when there were plenty of heroes to handle the everyday villains. He's a teacher for god's sake he should start putting his students first!" She barked which none of the boys could argue with.
From what was discovered after the incident All Might had arrived several minutes prior to the barrier going down trying to find a way in, and while the 4 of them knew he tired a part of them couldn't help but feel that All Might should have been there with them from the start.
"But do you know who's pissing me off the most right now?" Jirou questioned only getting shakes of the head for an answer. "Well that would be those arrogant, worthless, lazy pieces of shit who used to be our classmates." She admitted getting surprised looks from the boys. "Jirou." Izuku started to say but she wasn't having any of it.
"Don't. Even. Try and defend them." Jirou hissed. "If those punks were actually serious about being heroes then they wouldn't have so blindly followed the stuck up princess's example and we could have actually had some god damn help the other day." Jirou continued to vent her frustrations only to suddenly freeze as a dark look crossed her face.
"Then again when if it did happened. she would probably just scoff and accuse our crystalized teachers of trying to trick them. Hell she'd probably keep insisting that it was all a trick right up to the point until she was being held down by some thug, her clothes being ripped off and-."
"Jirou!" The purple haired girl stopped and looked towards her classmates who were all looking at her with concern and a tad bit of reproach. The girl, her fire finally dying down bowed her head. "Sorry." She muttered shuffling towards the stairs where she sat with her head down.
"It's all right, we're all feeling the burden of what we faced. Such things are necessary." Fumikage tried to reassure her only for her to give them a look. "Yeah and you guys really look like you're having a hard time." She muttered.
"Dark Shadow is tied to my emotional state." Fumikage told her, a bit of coldness in his voice. "Should I let my emotions get the best of me she could go out of control." He told the earphone girl who did gain a slightly guilty look that increased when Mezo added on to the conversation.
"This wasn't the first time I've been attacked. True I don't believe my life was ever in danger, but the sneers and bloodlust was the same as it was back then." The multi-armed boy said patiently knowing the girl wasn't exactly in the best head space right now.
If Jirou didn't feel like dirt before she certainly did know. Not knowing what to do she turned to Izuku. "Well Big Green, what about you? Where's your mind been recently?" She questioned with Izuku grunting as he answered.
"Probably the same thing you've been doing. Replaying the battle over and over again in my mind, questioning every decision and call I made" Izuku muttered before rubbing his face with his hands. "And you're right Jirou, If our classmates had been as serious as they should have been, we'd have had a far easier time. Honestly it was a miracle that a power set that let me create cones unlocked when it did."
"Indeed and given what your quirk is I would call it divine intervention." Fumikage added on able to keep from adding his own flare to the conversation. "And Jirou we all feel the same way about are former comrades." Fumikage promised as Mezo gave his own nod. "They're right, we each have our own problems and issues with them. You're not alone in your resentment of them." He made sure to stress to the girl.
The ear phoned jack girl nodded giving a grateful nod before a look of consideration bloomed on her face for several seconds until finally she seemed to come to a decision. "Kyoka." She finally said. "Please all me Kyoka, after what we've been through I think we've blown past the stage of given names." She told the boys giving each other a quick glance before smiles that matched Kyoka.
"Izuku."
"Mezo."
"Fumikage."
"Dark Shadow!"
"Everyone all ready calls you by your name Dark Shadow." Fumikage remained his partner with a role of his eyes who scowled. "Everyone was saying so I should get mine!" The quirk squawked childishly causing the teens to let out a laugh.
Honestly they laughed longer and harder then they should at such a thing but it honestly just felt so good to finally be able to laugh at something, even as minute as that, it just all came flood out.
Finally once they all managed to calm down did silence return they all sat in the sand. their bodies much more relaxed than they had been a few minutes before. "So." Dark Shadow drawled. "Not that I love this little cozy little thing we got here but what do we do now?" Dark Shadow asked. "I mean where do we go from here? Act like the USJ never happened and go on all gumdrops and candy corn? The quirk questioned.
"We don't let this happen again that's what we do."
Four pairs of eyes turned towards Izuku who was resting his head in his hand as he rested his arm on his knee. "We got lucky two days ago. The villains for the most part were bottom of he barrel and their biggest guns.were zombies, a man child and some walking fart." Izuku reminded them before shaking his head. "Next time we could be facing down an army of highly skilled mercenaries with top of the line tech and leadership, and I'm not liking our odds if we do at the moment."
"You really think something like this could happen again Big Green?" Dark Shadow snorted only to balk slightly at the dead look that suddenly flashed through Izuku's eyes he gave a humorless grin. "History has an irritating habit of repeating itself and now that people know that the 4 survivors of the 1a purge can handle a villain invasion by themselves." Izuku started to say.
"Then any villain who think they've got a shot or wants to make a name for themselves well try and take us down." Mezo finished grimly as Kyoka groaned and hid her face in her hands while Fumikage crossed his arms and closed his eyes.
"Fuck this just keeps getting worse and worse." Kyoka groaned into hands. "Trials are to be expected but for us to experience it so soon. I fear the grim realty that will be our futures." Fumikage grumbled.
"Which is why we need to get stronger." Izuku interjected. "So much so that not even All Might can compete." Snorts from Dark Shadow and Kyoka meeting this statement. "Yeah sure Izuku but let's be realistic. All Might is the regarded as one of the strongest if not the strongest human on the planet, and he still gets challenged all the time. I mean that was the whole reason for the USJ attack." Kyoka felt the need to remind him.
"Exactly my point." Izuku whirled around to her. "Despite everything All Might has done and is capable of, there are still villains out there who think they've got a shot." Here Izuku raised his fist "That's where we'll surpass him. We'll get so strong, became such outstanding heroes, that no villain will even think about committing an a crime if it means drawing our attention.
We'll get so capable with our quirks and equipment that there won't be any situation, villain, rescue work or otherwise that we won't be able to handle. And prove to the world just what we're cable off."
"And the man's clearly off his rocker." Dark Shadow exclaimed rolling her eyes. "What you're suggesting is impossible Greenie." The quirk was quick to dismiss. "Impossible? Pretty sure that's what people are saying about us fending off an invasion." Izuku countered before looking at his classmates who still looked unsure causing Izuku to sigh.
"I know it sounds crazy, believe me I do. But just look at us. We earned the right to stay when 16 others were deemed hopeless and expelled, we've got All Might as a teacher and who along with Principal Nezu one of the smartest minds in the world have decided we're worth the trouble of keeping around and our personally reworking our lessons plans. Top that off with the insanity of the USJ?" Izuku laughed while shaking his head. "I hate to tell ya guys but we've dealing with nothing but crazy ever since school, started." Izuku admitted before giving a shrug. "So I say what's a little more to an already growing mountain?"
Jirou, Tokoyami, Dark Shadow and Shoji all digested his words, each feeling them slowly resonate with them despite wanting to dismiss them in favor of wanting to believe such a thing was possible.
"What you're proposing is nothing short of a banquet or absolute madness and chaos." Fumikage finally voiced his thoughts before giving a resigned sigh. "One that I would very much like to be apart of and see just how much we can accomplish while chasing such a dream." The bird boy smirked as Dark Shadow scowled. "Damn it Big Green. that silver tongue of yours won't always work I hope you know that!" Dark Shadow warned but did nothing else to disagree.
Izuku smirked towards the quirk before turning to where Mezo and Kyoka sat. Seeing the eyes on them Mezo could only shrug. "I'm already chasing a goal that many would say is impossible, this doesn't seem nearly as complicated or as difficult to do." Mezo agreed before they all glanced at Kyoka.
The girl held their stares for several seconds before snorting as a smirk crossed her boys. "Ah fuck it, I'm in." She agreed before her smirk turned challenging and pointed towards the boys. "Can't let the teachers accuse me of slacking of because I'm being compared to you lunatics now can I?" She questioned jokingly getting laughs from the boys and quirk as Izuku stood.
"So what do you say guys?" He asked before extending his fist. "Never again?" He asked as Mezo, Fumikage, Kyoka and Dark Shadow all placed their fist on his own.
"Never again."
Line break.
The logo for a news station appeared on screen before it faded away to reveal Raisin. It was during sunset and she was standing in front of the USJ where cops could be seen placing villains into police vehicles in the background.
"Good evening everyone, I'm Hinata Sano and I'm coming to you live from the USJ where just hours ago nearly 100 infiltrated the faculty before trapping the 4 members of this year's class 1A along with 2 UA teachers inside. Hinata reported before a grin spread across her face.
"But fear not loyal viewers for today justice had claimed victory! Because The heroes claimed victory this day capturing all but the two ringleaders who managed to get away." The reporter happily announced while giving the camera a fist pump.
Hinata began to walk with the camera following her. "Quite understandably the 4 students have already been escorted away, no doubt for a full medical exam before being released into the care of their parents who I'm sure is a more then a little anxious about getting their kids back.
Luckily we got a few UA officials that would be more than happy to answer a few questions for us." Hinata cheered as the camera then panned towards Aizawa, Nezu and 13. Aizawa's expression made it clear he was more then a a little frustrated at being there and wanted nothing more then to leave while 13, her face hidden in her space suit, was clear anxious given how much fidgeting she was doing.
Principal Nezu for his part was the picture of calm, a relaxed smile on his face while his hands placed neatly behind his back. "Principal Nezu thank you for taking a few moments to speak with us. I know you've got a lot to deal right now so it means a lot." Hinata greeted the principal who shook his head.
"Think nothing of it. This is simply the best way to inform the public of the information we currently have at the moment." Nezu informed the reported who smiled at the fact she was the one getting the story. "And we're happy to be of help." She responded. "Now to start off please tell us exactly what happened here."
"Of course. 13, Eraser Head." The principal gestured to his employees. Aizawa's eyes twitched but nodded reluctantly. "Nothing was out of the ordinary at first. We arrived here and meet up with 13 who showed us inside. Once again everything seemed perfectly fine" Aizawa began the retelling as 13 nodded. "After the break in yesterday I did a thorough sweep of the building just as the rest of UA had been." 13 told the reporter before shaking her head and releasing a regretful sigh. "Though it seems the villains were better prepared than we gave them credit for."
"Anyway we had entered the USJ and were about to began with their rescue training when." Here Aizawa let out a tired sigh before glancing towards his boss who only nodded. So with an air of resignation Aizawa continued. " When the 2 of us became encased in crystals." Aizawa finally admitted causing the reporter to freeze.
The camera focused on Hinata for several seconds, a frozen smile on her face as her brain seemed to be trying to reboot. Finally after several seconds she blinked. "I'm sorry I must have misheard you because I swear I heard you say-." The reporter tried to say only for Aizawa to cut her off.
"13 and myself were encased in crystals were we reminded until the end of the invasion when our students freed us." Aizawa said not beating around the bush with 13 nodding in confirmation as Hinata gasped in disbelief. "B-But, but if that's true that would mean that 4 high school freshmen bought down almost a hundred villains!" The reporter nearly shrieked.
"That is indeed what happened though despite being trapped in crystals we were still able to see and hear everything that had happened." 13 informed the reporter who was starting to look skeptical.
Looking unbothered Aizawa continued. "Once we were captured a villain covered in mist warped into the building along with the rest of the other villains, scattering them across the faculty. The students tried to call for help but the villains had killed any service they might have gotten, so they quickly tried to make for the exit.
Before they could however the mist villain appeared in front of them claiming they weren't allowed to leave until All Might arrived." The underground pro hero continued only for Hinata to interrupt. "All Might? What does he have to do anything?" Hinata questioned with Nezu breathing out through his nose.
"All Might was on the schedule to be there, however a situation came up that needed his attention urgently and given that the size of the class I had figured that both Eraser Head and 13 would be more then enough to help them through the class." Nezu explained and gave a sigh. "Naturally now that I know what occurred I would have had All Might gone to the USJ while finding out another way to handle with the situation."
Sano looked like she had a million questions she wanted to ask but decided to it was best to move on for now. "All right so what happened next?" She questioned as 13 continued the story. "The mist villain threatened to separate the kids, but luckily one of the students were able to sub due them .
Once the villain was taken care of the students tried to escape first by using an aspect of one the students to copy the warp villain's quirk." "One of the students has a copy quirk?" Hinata quesiotnued eagerly only to wilt slightly at the flat look Eraser Head was giving her. "It's an aspect of their quirk." The underground hero answered briskly before turning to 13 and motioned for her to continue.
"Like we said the student tired to warp everyone back to UA, for that to fail. When that didn't work the students attempted to flee to the busses to escape, taking us along with them I might add." 13 added quickly when she saw Hinata open her mouth.
"With no other options the students decided to fight." Aizawa continued, his tone clear he was losing his patience. "Naturally I'm not going to go into details about exactly how they fought for obvious reasons." The look he shot the reporter there would be no arguing on this point causing both reporter and camera man to nod rapidly with the camera moving up and down as well.
"The kids did struggle I'm not going to sell a lie on that but they managed to get the upper hand. At one point the main villain lost his cool and ordered the final group that had been acting as body guards until that moment." Aizawa went on with the story before going silent, unsure of how to proceed.
Luckily his boss did.
"Now before we continue the tale we need to make a few things abundantly clear." Nezu said his tone becoming razor thin. "These villains were unlike the others. They were savage, barely above animals in terms of personality. With the main one barely being able to string words together." Nezu told the reporter before letting out a breath.
"And we do in fact know the cause." Nezu admitted though it was clear he was reluctant to do so. "Thanks to one of our students sensory ability, the villains own admittance and the autopsy's done. Hinata's mouth flew opened, no doubt to question about that last bit but Nezu was faster.
"We can know confirm that these villains known as Nomu were bio engineered weapons. Reanimated corpses that the villains tried to use in this battle. So armed with this knowledge, the Nomu were quickly wiped out." The principal told the reporter who looked completely overwhelmed.
"W-Wiped out?!" Hinata demanded with Nezu nodding. "Yes wiped out. Destroyed. Obliterated. Like most weapons of villains are." Nezu confirmed. "Make no mistake Miss Sano. These villains went not alive nor had they been for a long time. They were nothing more than zombies and if you don't believe me I'm more than happy to show you the reports if you would like to see them." Nezu told the woman before she took a deep breath.
"Alright so the Nomu are gone, what happened next?" She questioned as Aizawa finished the story "The leading villain tried to attack but was quickly beaten back. After the exchange both the ring leader and the mist villain fled the scene and the students were able to track down, the villain responsible for myself and 13 as well as what was responsible for what was keeping them in the USJ, officially bringing the incident to a close." The underground hero finished the story looking relived it was over.
Hinta however was far from done. "Thank you for tell us that, now a few questions if you please." She requeested with Nezu nodding. "Go right ahead." He offered. "First and foremost what are the conditions of the students?" She questioned with Nezu tilting his head. "Fine for the most part, banged up a bit as should be expected for something like this but nothing that recovery girl and a some rest can't heal up."
"Alright what do you believe is the main reason for the attack?" She questioned. "This we know for sure. Multiple times the villains claimed that they were here to kill All Might." Nezu exclaimed with Hinata raising an eyebrow, somewhat unimpressed. "Seems like unoriginal if you ask me." She couldn't help but add with Nezu shrugging. "Most villains are." He countered.
"Fair point." The reporter countered before moving on. "Next question any thoughts on why only the teachers were crystalized and not the students as well?" She questioned with Nezu humming. "I do have some ideas and there only speculation at this point but right now there are 2 theories I'm believing in most right now." He said while raising 2 fingers.
"The first it that the villain could only trap two at a time and felt it was better to trap the more seasoned pros then the rookie students." Nezu voiced his first theory. "My next theory is based on what the mist villain said earlier about separating the students. If that had happened then All Might's focus would have been split between fighting, the villains, guarding the teachers and finding and rescuing the students." Nezu finished explaining with Hinata looking deeply troubled at the thought.
"You said earlier that the head villain eventually joined the fight but was fought back, I don't suppose during the that time one of the students were able to get a good hit and draw some blood? Not much, but enough to search through any criminal data bases for matches?" She questioned with Nezu grinning.
"They did indeed." Nezu spoke proudly. "The analysis has already began and hopefully soon we'll know exactly who we are dealing with." Nezu explained to Hinata who gave a grin of her own. "Okay just a couple more questions. First you said that you found what was preventing the students from escaping rather than who, does that mean it wasn't a quirk? And following that up how were the villains able to escape when the students could not?" She continued to question.
"I believe I can answer that one." 13 was the one to speak up. "You were correct in your guessing that it wasn't someone in particular rather than an object. Specially a rock covered in a strange symbol which turned out to be a rune." "A rune? You mean like the kind from stories about magic?" Sano questioned with 13 nodding. "Yes that's what we're calling it for simplicity sake. A strange symbol edged on something? Rune simply seems fitting." 13 gave her version of a shrug.
"Makes sense. And how many villains were guarding this rune?" Hinata questioned with 13 shaking her head. "Not a one. That's the ingenious part. It was hidden in the Ruins zone. Having villains guarding it would have drawn attention to it. By letting it just sit there and acting like just another rock, it would have been harder to see, harder to notice." 13 explained before shaking her head. "Honestly it was pure luck we managed to find it."
"As for how the leaders managed to leave. I imagine that they most have had been holding something that let's them ignore the rune." Nezu theorized. "Any leads on this mysterious rune maker?" Hinata questioned with Nezu giving off a regretful sigh. "Unfortunately not. This is a new player in town. So I'm afraid our information is limited." Nezu admitted before his eyes narrowed.
"But rest assured, whoever they are well be caught just like any other criminal. Of that you have my word." Nezu promised causing Hinata to smile. "Thank you for time and for answering our questions heroes." She said giving a bow which Nezu and 13 retuned while Eraser Head nodded before the 3 turned to leave.
Now alone the news caster fully faced the camera. "Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Invasions, zombies, assassination attempts and 4 courageous students fighting for their lives and emerging victorious against the odds!" She shouted with a massive grin. "Those villains made a mistake attacking today and Class 1A made sure to prove that to them! What feat will this wonder class pull off next?! Only time will tell! Until then this is Hina Sano sighing off!"
The video paused and the lights turned on to reveal it being the teachers of UA having been the ones watching the report.
"Well I say that was one of my better interviews." Nezu commented as he turned to face his teachers. "Now any questions?" Nezu asked absently scrolling through his phone. "Yeah why did you just waste our time showing that to us?" Aizawa questioned with Nezu not looking up as he answered. "Because there are a few among us who hadn't seen it and I wanted us all on the same page."
"Alright follow up, why did you have us do an interview in the first place, and so soon after the incident?" The underground hero continued to question with Nezu placing his phone down. "Because if I had refused to speculation, rumors would have taken the place of facts and if we had released any statements after that it would have seemed like we were trying to hide something.
Questions would have arose after that, that could have placed not only UA under a negative light but also class 1A." Nezu explained before his eyes hardened as they locked onto Aizawa. "And I'm not going to put my staff or more importantly my students through that just because you don't like the media." Nezu's words were sharp and to the point and Aizawa had to wilt away from such a gaze.
"Also Hinata Sano while like a shark smelling blood in the water when it comes to finding stories, she still reports only the facts presented to her. I knew she would be the best chance we had being fair." Nezu went on with his explanation before going back to scrolling on his phone.
"And for the most part the various news article as well as reporters are being fair. Despite a few being less than happy we denied them an interview." The principal said before pressing a button as the screen showed to show various headlines.
Villian Attack on UA thwarted!
Bold Villains attempted assault! Tragedy narrowly avoided!
Rising stars first years triumph over villains!
First victory for first years!
The next generations new top heroes?!
"Naturally not everyone is so positive but the majority of media networks seemed to be on our side." Nezu replied cheerfully before looking over his students. "The first year students however, less so." The statement confused the teachers as Nezu continued. "Going over the students various social media accounts I noticed something rather concerning." Nezu moved on to the next subject only for Present Mic to interrupt.
"I'm sorry but did you say you went over the little listeners's social media accounts?" Mic questioned getting a nod from Nezu. "Oh yes I follow all my students social media as well as the teachers. You never know when someone will say something concerning." Nezu said as several of the teachers paled at the information.
Mic and Midnight seemed particularly shook.
"Back to the matter at hand. Many of the first years are less than pleased with the sudden 'popularity boast. Class 1A is experiencing." Nezu said while the screen behind them showed some of the comments.
What were your classmates not enough, now you gotta go looking for villains too?
"Most be nice to be blessed with such mazing gifts and opportunities.
You should have let one of those villains kill you! That way I could have taken your spot!
Fuck off and die!
Next time you up against villains, I hope they gut you like a fish!
Looks of disgust crossed the teachers's faces. "Naturally this is completely unacceptable and you all are to give them this warning. Should I find any more of this then there will be consequences. UA will not tolerate bullies of any kind and cyber is no exception." Here he turned to Vlad King. "Sekijiro, class 1B has been particularly nasty these last couple of days but you and I will be discussing that after the meeting." The mammal informed his teacher who nodded despite looking like he swallowed a lemon.
"Now then on to business. Regarding the villains, aside from the Nomu, the mist villain and the man covered his hands, each of the villains are F and E ranked on the scales and aside from the one called Hood, even the Nomu wouldn't rank above C." Nezu informed as the screens showed the various battle sites.
In each site the clone of Izuku was making easy work of the villains. The shipwreck zone was one massive whirlpool sloshing the villains around. Many looked like they were about to sick with some having already done so. A cage of fire surrounded the villains in the conflagration zone while the landfall zone villains were buried up to their necks.
"After many interviews it became clear that these villains were nothing special and the small army was put together last minute." Nezu shook his head. "It's clear the main villain, the one covered in hands, the mist villain and the nomu known as Hood were the main attack force and that everyone else was simply there to wear you down All Might." Nezu informed the man who looked down guiltily.
"Speaking of which, why did you waste your three heroes before you even got to school?" Aizawa demanded glaring at the man who seemed to sink down even lower. "Don't be to hard on him Shota, I've already read him the riot act." Nezu tried to deescalate the situation.
The truth was despite how awful it was Nezu was very grateful All Might was not at the USJ for the battle. From All Might's own estimate One For All was down to its very last embers and it was only due to Mirio's efforts that the symbol of peace was able to relax and keep the embers alive. But the sad truth was that by All Might's own words he had maybe one or two big fights left before those final embers burnt out.
Clearing his head Nezu addressed All Might. "That being said I think it's time we introduce the first years to All Might's secretary, Mr. Yagi." The principal suggested getting a nod from All Might. "I have no objections with that sir." He agreed with his boss who gave his own satisfied nod.
"Now moving on to the villain covered in hands. Sadly the students weren't able to get his name but thanks to young Midoriya we were able to several blood samples and are currently examining them as well as the hands he was wearing like trophies." Nezu recapped with Hound Dog sneering.
"Don't tell me that sicko was wearing the hands of the ones he killed!" Hound Dog sneered with Nezu letting out a regretful sigh as he nodded. "Yes we haven't confirmed who they belong to yet but we have confirmed that they are indeed human in origins." Nezu answered grimly. "God. What kind of sicko does shit like that?" Present Mic questioned with Aizawa grunting.
"A man child." The sleep deprived hero answered. "Even from the top of the stairs I could hear him screaming and hollering. Bragging when it came to the Nomu and throwing tantrums when he didn't get his way. Like a brat who's never been told no before." The eraser hero sneered in disgust as 13 nodded in agreement.
"Yes Midoriya made sure to cover that when he was explaining the situation." Nezu agreed. "Though that did work as a blessing in one case. It was thanks to this bragging and Midoriya's sensory ability that he was able to realize what the Nomu was and destroy them." Nezu nodded before pressing a button. "Speaking of Midoriya." Nezu said while pressing a a button and the scene changed towards when Izuku threw the crystal villain off the top of the stairs.
"Geez little listener can be brutal when he wants to be." Present Mic shivered while Snipe snorted and crossed his arms. "After everything they put those young'uns through he's lucky a scare is all he got." the sniping hero muttered. "Even so that could have easily gone wrong. We need to make sure he knows that. Before something goes wrong." She muttered both for what could happen and the consequences that could come from it.
"Agreed but it's not as bad as you think." Nezu said before bringing up another video. It showed a younger Izuku talking with an older man standing atop a large platform inside a building. "This is Ikkaku Shiba. A trainer at a quirk gym with his quirk being Indestructible, he can't be harmed and his pain sensors are nearly nonexistent." Nezu quickly informed before the video played.
The pair talked for a bit before the Threads of Artemis appeared and wrapped around Ikkaku who then jumped off the platform, Izuku waited for several seconds looking frustrated before giving pull to stop him but it was to late and the trainer slammed into the ground. The teachers couldn't help but wince at the impact even when the man emerged from the hole and gave a thumbs up.
What followed were a series of clips of the pair trying this over and over. Izuku failing many times. However as time went on they could tell he was getting better and better at it until he finally was able to pull it off without an issue from various heights.
"While we still do need to have a talk with him about the use of such extreme tactics, this will at least tell us he won't do anything reckless at the drop of a hat." Nezu said before letting outa agitated grunt "Now onto the final part of the meeting and the most troubling part I'm afraid." Nezu said while bringing up the next slide.
"Oh please after everything that we've talked about what could possibly be so bad?" Present Mic snorted with a roll of his eyes. However a few seconds later he was eating his words as once he saw what was on the screen he had to remove his glasses to make sure he wasn't seeing things.
He wasn't the only one having such a reaction. Eraser Head's quirk had activated, his hair standing straight up and his eyes glowed intensely as he glared murderously at the screen. Midnight was covering her mouth with her hands, 13 was shaking her head in denial, Snipe fell out of his chair in shook while the normally stoic Cementoss was openly gaping. Hound Dog was snarling, nearly snapping his muzzle into while Ectoplasm had ectoplasm misting out of his moth. All Might's mouth was gasping as his body shook in horror and denial while Nezu could only lower his head in sadness.
For on the screen showed the four bounties of class 1A
Bounties on heroes were something that started a few decades ago where the criminal underworld can place a price on a hero's head. No-one knows who started it but it has resulted in the death of many heroes.
However most heroes didn't get their bounties until they at least started as sidekicks with extreme cases being 3rd years getting them.
3rd years were usually given a price up to 1,000,000
Side kicks ranged from 1,000,000 to 100,000,000
low tier heroes settled around 100,000,000 to 1,000,000,000
Mid tier 1,000,000,000 to 100,000,000,000
High tier 100,000,000,000 to 300,000,000
With the top ten of each countries ranging from 300,000,000,000 to 500,000,000,000 with All Might and Star n Strip being the two most wanted heroes in the world at 557,453,000,000 and 544,882,000,000 respectively.
But for 3 1st years to be priced in the range of low-tier heroes and 1 in the mid-tier after 1 encounter was unheard of.
"These bounties along with a video showing what happened at the USJ aired at midnight and had to be taken down several times. Though that's not the important part." Nezu said but couldn't continue as Hound Dog exploded from his chair.
"YEAH! SOME SICK FUCK PUT A BOUNTY ON A BUNCH OF KIDS! THAT'S THE IMPORTANT PART!" Hound Dog snarled, his muzzle now fully gone as he hollowed. A second later he was dogpiled by a squad of Ectoplasm clones while Midnight released some of her quirk. The head of student discipline gave one last growl before fulling falling asleep.
The room stood still for several seconds before Nezu's shoulders slumped. "Well maybe we should end this meeting here for now. We can pick this another time." Nezu suggested getting mutters of agreement from his staff, feeling exhausted from everything that just happened. "Aizawa, Kan, Yagi, please stay behind." He requested as one by one the teachers left with the clones carrying Hound Dog leaving Nezu alone with the 3 requested teachers.
Both Aizawa and All Might despite the former's attempts at hiding it clearly had something to say while Kan looked deeply worried. "Now than Aizawa let's start with Class 1A." The unknown animal said with the man nodding, his fist clenched tightly. "I had already finished your classes reworked hero training schedule but with this we're going to have to overhaul it." Nezu spoke to the underground hero who nodded instantly. "I was already planning on it sir. I'll make sure they're ready for anyone that comes after them." Aizawa confirmed, his eyes glowing red with malice as he glared at the bounties still on the screen.
The kids couldn't walk away from this world anymore. Until the day they die they'll have those prices on their heads that anyone could collect if they could overwhelm and defeat them. That was something Aizawa wouldn't allow in the slightest.
Giving a satisfied nod Nezu turned to the number 1 hero. "I hate to ask this of you Yagi, but I was hoping you could assist me in seeing if we can get the students tested for their provisional licenses. Now that they have prices on each of their heads, it's imperative that they're able to defend themselves." Nezu requested as the symbol of peace nodded eyes still drifting to the board everyone now and then. "Of course sir I do anything I can, both inside and outside the classroom to ensure they're safe." He declared before turning to Kan. "That goes for all my students." He vowed with Kan offering a small smile for the words.
"Excellent now both Kan and Aizawa I have a tall order for both of you." Nezu said with the 3 men looking just a tad bit wary at the hesitant tone Nezu used with an unpleasant theory running through Aizawa's head . Seeing that he had his teachers's attention Nezu announced his attention.
"I want you both to show the footage of the USJ to your classes and review them. Aizawa I want you to question your class and see where they went wrong and where they can improve. Khan I want you to question your class about their observations and thoughts. Let them see what really happened and show them what it's really like. Understand?" He questioned with both men giving an affirmative.
"Good to hear." Nezu said before continuing. "Additionally I want you to inform both classes of the bounties placed on the heads of class 1A." All Might's mouth gasped in shock while Kan's eyes widened in surprise. Aizawa's head bowed and let out a grunt but did nothing more to react.
Usually hero students didn't learn about bounties being a thing until their second year, as a way to give them a last chance to choose if they really wanted to be a hero or not before they had a target placed on their backs.
A choice that these 4 first years that had less than a week of training no longer had.
"This was not a decision made lightly or on a whim. Class 1A have a right and a need to know what has happened and what to except from now on, as for class 1B I'll explain that to you in a moment Khan." He explained his reasoning. Aizawa didn't look happy but nodded all the same while a bad feeling started to grow in Khan's gut.
All Might looked away, a troubled expression on his face which Nezu noticed. "Do you disagree with this Yagi?" He asked leading to the symbol of peace directing his gaze towards his boss and shake his head. "No sir it's the right call. Class 1a needs to know what's happened. I'm just worried things are moving too fast and the kids are going to be overwhelmed by everything." He voiced his worries.
To his surprise Nezu crossed his arms and nodded with a small smile. "I agree. I didn't have the chance to explain it earlier but I've added a new member to the staff, a pro hero to act as the school's therapist." He reveled surprising the 3 other pro heroes. "Anyone we know?" Kan questioned as Nezu gave a chuckle.
"Marie Stein." Was his answer getting a confused look from All Might, not recognizing the name. Kan's eyes widened before giving a grunt and nod of approval while Aizawa hummed. "A good choice." He approved while All Might glanced to his co-workers. "I'm sorry but who is this Marie Stein?" He asked.
"Ms.Stein otherwise known by her hero name Mjolnir is an underground hero who can turn her hands into hammer's coated in lighting hence her chosen name. She's also a very accomplished therapist and psychologist who has helped many people, pros, civilians and even villains alike." Nezu chirped with All Might gaining a relived smile happy the school is gaining such a capable new member.
"And we know it's a lot to push on to the kids but again would you rather them be caught completely of guard?" Aizawa questioned before moving on. "Besides with the sports festival still on in a few weeks, they'll have at least something to be distracted by." Aizawa grunted with Nezu grinning.
Nezu knew how much Aizawa disagreed with the sports festival being held so soon after the attack and the mammal agreed with him but his hands were tied with the school board pushing it. So the best he could do was amp up security as much as he could.
"Didn't expect to see you being so optimistic about such a thing Eraser or at least your brand of optimism." Kan teased hs coworker who developed an eye twitch. "What you gonna mention the other opportunity to your class for once?" The blood hero questioned further.
"Well there are only four of them. So they should be able to get it done."
Kan blinked before gasping at the eraser hero. "Wait you're actually going to announce it! I thought you considered irrational and a waste of time!" He questioned with Eraser snorting. "Considering that requires the entire class for it to even be done it usually is, but since class 1A only has 4 members, the odds are much higher that it can happen. Good luck explaining that to your class though."
Nezu watched his bickering teachers with amusement shining in his eyes. Happy to see somethings looking to be getting back to normal. That amusement increased when he saw All Might, completely confused and looking around desperately for answers.
"It's something that was implanted after your time here and like Aizawa said it requires an entire class to meet a certain requirement for it to be done so it's almost never happens. I can tell you about it or I can wait to see if the 2 classes can pull it off." Nezu offered with All Might grinning.
"Let's keep it a surprise for now. If it doesn't happen then you can tell me." Yagi suggested with Nezu clapping. "Delightful." The principal laughed before turning back to his teachers. "Now then Aizawa. Is there anything left you wish to discuss? If not you may leave and I'll can finish my discussions with Kan and Yagi here."
Aizawa stretched as he stood. "No I've said what I needed to. I'll go begin working on the new lessons plans for the kids. Maybe talk to Snipe about fire arms lessons for those that's interested." He said as he headed for the door.
"Wonderful I'll look it over later and give my thoughts and suggestions." Nezu dismissed getting a nod from Aizawa as he headed out the door.
"Now then Kan about class 1B." Kan immediately sat up straighter. Typing away on the screen Nezu directed their attention to the screen. "Please take a look at some of the post your students have made.
Iron-Man:That's not so great! Just wait until Mr.Khan lets us loose against some real villains, then we'll show them what it means to be a man.
Splitting Dino-: Typical villains with no real plan, no wonder class 1A had such an easy time.
Anything you can do I can do better: Utter trash. Both those worthless villains and the scum in class 1A! If we had been there we would have been out in less then 3 minutes!
Slicing mantis: I sweat if those guys in class 1A start strutting around the school like they own the place I'll remind them just how strong the rest of us are
Best Pony: Can't wait to kick bad guy butt
Nezu turned back to Khan who looked to be sinking deeper and deeper into the ground while All Might watched this with pity in his eyes and a sweat drop on his head.
"Not the best attitude from students who haven't even seen combat yet. Nor does it paint a good picture about their feelings towards their sister class." Nezu said his voice completely natural which only made Khan feel worse. "The last one isn't so bad." He argued weakly only to flinch at Nezu's beady eye gaze.
"It's one of the only acceptable ones across 1B's various social medias." Nezu informed the blood manipulator. "True not everyone in your class is like this with every post but there's enough of this going around that it could be a problem." Nezu pointed towards the board. "And these weren't even the worst of the them, not even close." He barked before placing his paws together.
"So here's what's going to happened. You're going to go over every detail that happened pressing on them the dangers that class 1A faced as well as how lucky they were to escape. And when you mention the bounties I want you to give them a warning, If I hear that knee of Class 1A's bounties have spread throughout the school thanks to the 1B I will expel and blacklist everyone responsible."
Khan gulped with sweat running down his face. "But what if class 1A." Khan began to say only for Nezu to interrupt. "If class 1A wants to tell the world about the prices on their heads, that's a right exclusive to them. It is not class 1B' secert to expose." He finished sharply before turning to All Might.
"I believe your first lesson plan when the students retuned was for some quirkiness sparing?" He asked getting a nod from All Might. "Yes to see where the students stand without their quirks and see if incorporating aspects of certain fighting styles can improve their combat prowess." All Might explained the lesson he had planned.
A lesson that Gran Tarino had given his class when he taught at UA.
"A perfect lesson for 1A given what just happened but I ask that you hold off on it for class 1B. I already have a lesson devised for them upon their return." Nezu admitted confusing both men. "Sir?" Khan asked warily as concern for his students grew. "The kind of behavior the students are showing and their dismal of the threats that 1A faced is unacceptable and is already leading them to believe they are ready to fight villains." Nezu hissed before a cruel smirk crossed his face.
"Normally I would allow the students time to calm down and come to these realizations alone but time is not on our side." Nezu shock his head regretfully.
"Something has to be done and while we will not send class 1B off against actual villains we can do the next best thing.
It was time for class 1B had a wake up call and an ugly one at that.
To be continued.
Okay so originally this chapter was supposed to be a bit longer. With it ending at the start of Class 1B's training exercise but given how long this chapter already is I felt this is a good place to end it.
Now onto the chapter we seen Japan response to the USJ along with class 1A. I hope everyone liked class 1A's response to what happened and I know it may seem weird that Kyoka was the only one freaking out, Mezo, Fumikage, and Izuku seemed to me like the kind of process in silence types then explosive anger.
And yes there is some resentment towards their classmates for not being there and that's not going away anytime soon especially the more challenges the class will face down the line.
As for the interview I wanted to make it clear that while Hinata will do almost anything for a story, she's going to make sure that she's gotten as many facts as she could.
The teachers go over what happened and some less than pleasant discoveries are made.
And finally Nezu begins making plans for the future of his first year students while decided class 1B needs a bit of a realty check.
I think I've got 2 chapters before the sports festival begins. With the next one focusing on school starting up until the end of Class 1A's heroics lessons while the one after that focus on the time up to the sports festival.
One last thing. I think I'm going to focus on this story for a while. I know this isn't my most poplar story but right now it's the one I'm having the most fun with. So sorry but that's the plan right now.
That's all for now.
Tell next time,
Bye.
