Loyalty Downfall

Benzo was kind and often aloof when one of Vander's kids were here. He was not a father figure to you but more like the uncle figure that gives out good advice for a price kind of guy. Ekko immediately went to work on this old looking grandfather clock as Benzo grabbed you something to sip on. Soon humming a little tune as he examines his things, well, trinkets that lay around. Decoration and all. He was a hoarder as well as a tradesmen slash owner of this shop.

That was for a little while, not more than two hours, before the chimes of the bells were heard. Meaning a customer is here. Turns out it was Vander. Holding a sack of things not worth enough to sell.

"Were closed!"

"Well open up."

"For good. You can take your worthless junk else where."

Vander sighs, not leaving at all "Uh. Just as well the owner's the shittest business man I know."

The two stare at each other, for a few seconds, before laughing. Vander comes over to find your here in Benzo's too. His large free hand set on top of your head to which slips to check your temperature on your forehead. Finding no fever, because of your drink in hand, made him consider Benzo done the same trick he did that day.

"Ekko! What's going on with that thing?"

Ekko was tired of that clock, still not working right "Just give me a few seconds the kid and pinions are still busting-"

"Finish it later! Vander and I need a word."

"But-"

"Off you go."

Benzo was like a father figure to Ekko. Took him in and did his best in providing and guidance to the right path. The white haired boy did as told, leaving it be, just to pick up his box of tools and parts with a uneasy huff.

"I think you should do the same." Vander push a lock of loose hair behind your ear, Benzo agreeing with him with a nod of the head.

Your not sure. Something is going on and it's buggy you. Yes, your sick, but it doesn't mean you'll allow people to push you away from the unknown. It's beginning to feel like your own opinions don't matter here. Kept in everyone's shadows for various reasons..

"Here."

A small box was in Vander's hand, tiny and easy to crush in one go, set gently infront of the ill child. A small neptune blue box with tiny rope like ribbon to keep it close. Little hands untie the rope with no clue of what is inside. Once off soon open the lid cover. Vander smile grows a tad at the sparkling tint in those (E/C) eyes, holding onto the item gifted to you from him.

A small, knitted bear.
"Woaah! Lucky you!"

"Ekko be a champ and take (Y/N) with ya. Go on, we don't have all day!"

He sorta did that. Running out quickly before your in your feet and walking. It seems once you stepped out, a few minutes behind Ekko, the doors open by two enforcers. The one who opened it was a man who looks down at you with a mean judgemental glare. Half of their face covered by these metal looking mask. Made them look more scary and tad intimidating...

"Malcom. Let the child through."

There stood a lady enforcer, a kind one, who allowed you to slip pass the two to join Ekko outside. The man enforcer side glares the children before closing the door once inside the shop.

"Okay! Let's go!"

Ekko took hold of your hand and helped you climb up to the roof, shuffle to the window of the attic above Benzo's store, before leaving you to fiddle with something he must have made. The male enforcer was ordered to leave, making only one enforcer inside with Vandef and Benzo. Lucky enough to not be caught climbing up here.

"..Ar...re tha...eep.."

Ekko fiddled more with it "Hm? Oh come on." before hitting the pipe to which works better now, hearing things perfectly from below. Loud and clear.

"-on't mind the kid. Doesn't know when to pipe down."

"Somethings are the same side top and bottom."

"You know this tops the line upstairs."

"Was anyone hurt?"

"A building was blown to bits. What do you think?"

"Those who did this will be dealt with."

"That workshop belongs to the Kermans. Do you know what kind of stuff that had up in there? Makes this place look like a candy shop. The council needs someone to make an example of people need to feel safe."

"Yeah.Top side people."

"We had a deal Vander. You keep your people of my streets and I and I stay out of your business. Give me a name. We'll do things quiet, no one will know you were involved."

"I can't do that.."

"You don't seem to grasp how serious this is. If I don't put someone behind bars tonight the next time I come down here I'll have an army of enforcers with me...We both know how that will go."

"I'm sorry Grayson...But I can't offer up my own people."

The silence grew from there. The two youngsters wide eyed by the conversation at hand. Knowing it won't go so well either way. Niether knew what to say or do as they watch from above..

"If you changed your mind, this will reach me." An item was set on the bar table, cylinder blue and gold looking, her voice lowering as she leaves "And only me."

Ekko left it behind, the thing rotting away, as he took your hand and quickly got out of there. He doesn't know where he was taking you now. But he knew to leave as soon a possible. Catching you as you leap off the ladder into his arms, soon holding hands as he speed walk to his weird looking bicycle. Gets on and drives off to wherever sets in his little mind. And that was to home. To the Last Drop..

Claggor kept good eye on you once Ekko drove all the way from Benzo's to their place. His large oil stained bandaged hand set on your tiny shoulder, allowing you to remain close to each kid with Ekko. Munching on some candy he found on the way to Benzo's and ran off to hide from enforcers. He only mentioned arriving but you never seen him leave in fear. You simply had no clue on what is going on. Just that little unexpected discovery glimpse back in Benzo's. With Ekko.

But all was okay. The only thing your not so happy about was that Powder woke you up from your nap. A well needed nap. She held your hand as a way to keep you awake, squeezing it every once in a while. Returning it too. Knowing if you didn't she will panic.

Vander stood at the bar, downing some whiskey like it was water, as people of Zaun come stampedeing in. Loyal to Vander but all were here for various reasons; one of them was about the enforcers from earlier. A big sign of bad news down here...

"We should hit them back! We got the numbers to beat them!" Sevika, loyal to fault, points out as others cheer in agreement.

Vander, not happy at the thought of fighting enforcers,  lites his pipe to ease his rising migraine "You sure that's what you want?"

More cheers. They want to do it. Clearly tired and sick of being treated like shit.

A fume of smoke was let out, smokey grey, Vander spoke by memory "We crossed that bridge before and we all know how that ended."

"You're just protecting your kids!"

Vander narrows his eyes to the kids standing in the door way behind him. His attention flickering to each one, only to land on (Y/N) last to which news must be said. You weren't there. You're not involved in this mess. None of this was your fault. Not at all.

"(Y/N) didn't go." He stood up onto his feet, been slouching at the bar for some time, now going fully serious mode now "I'm protecting our people. I'll do the same for anyone of you. We look out for each other, that's how it always been. This will blow over we just need to stand together."

"The Vander I knew, the one who built the underground, wouldn't be afraid to fight."

Eyes were all set to Sevika. Approaching Vander with confidence and no sign of backing down. Face to face with each other. He smoked his pipe and blew it into her face, calm and clearly stronger than her.

"Do I look afraid?"

"No. You look weak."

That was all she did. Her retreat was not a good one. One loud whistle made each one of the men and women slowly leave the bar. Vander stood there. Doing nothing but allow everyone to make their own choices. Smoking his pipe to sooth his nerves and keep it at an all time low.

"Why isn't Vander just standing there? Not doing anything?"

"We kicked the enforcers butt's with just the four of us! Imagine the whole of the lanes could do!!"

"Geeze, even Powder wants to fight." Mylo, as rare as it is, picks you up as an apology for the ruckus for watching you up, limp in his arms as he carried you down stairs "Next thing we know, (Y/N) would be the one sent out to war. She won't last out there.."

"So why aren't we!?" Vi was frustrated, wanting to fight enforcers again, only to spy Ekko looking suspicious, avoiding eye contact too "Spill it Ekko."

"Uhmm...uh okay, uh, so...Vander's got a deal with the enforcers.."

Vi wasn't ready to hear that, never did she expected to hear that "What deal??"

Mylo, who held a sleeping child in arms, decide to take himself to his bed. It was not the top bunk but the bottom. With one arm he pulled the sheets back, as much as needed and tucked you in with little to no effort. Snugged and snoozing. Mylo could have left but he decided to give up what he found earlier that day. A tiny stuffed rabbit. The size of a soda can. Picking up an arm to toss it into your little napping session. Slowly backing away as ruckus grew from Vi and what could be Vander.

"So you do have a heart, how cute."

Mylo freaks out, jump turned around in self defense, hands up and ready to kick ass, just to grumble a buncb as it was Claggor who followed him. He saw the whole thing unfold. Smuggly smirks at Mylo.

"Listen to me you peice of shit, you saw nothing of what happened today got it!?"

Claggor raised his hands, playfully might I add, still smirking "Sure thing Mylo. Sure thing.."

Mylo grumbles as his name was called by no one other than Vander. Grumpy and embarrassed by no means necessary, stomps out of there quicker than Claggor.

Before Claggor left, knowing he needs to go as well, came to your bed side. Push back a strand of (H/C) hair back behind your ear, paused as your snuggled deep into the bed covers, before chuckles at your actions. It was cute to him. Once he knows your fully okay he pecked a quick goodnight kiss to your left cheek bone. Soon leaving and closed the door behind him. Allowing you to sleep in silence and peace.
