Fern

I woke up, feeling a sense of dread as I looked at my phone. I got a Father's Day reminder.

"He's a fucking asshole that's what! Why does he need a day, rewarding him for being the father he never was to me?!" Fern yelled, tears stinging her eyes.

"Mm...what's wrong, Fern.." Eury mumbled, half-asleep next to her. Crap I never told her.

"It's Father's Day." I said,simply.

"Mhm? And..?" Eury asked, starting to become more alert.

"Well...my biological father was an alcoholic and abusive...to my mom more often than me. One day he came home and he..." I choked up as the tears ran down my face. Eury understood what I was trying to say and hugged her tightly.

"Dear lord, I didn't even know that part of your life..I need to be more involved with you." Eury said, feeling bad. I hugged her tighter as tears continued running down my face.

"Fern, look at me." Eury said. I slowly pulled away from the hug and looked at Eury.

"It's going to hurt. The memories, the pain. It isn't easy to let go, but you're in the present. Not the past, not the future. You have two parents who love you and care for you as their own. The father that matters now is the one here in this household. Celebrate Father's Day with an actual father." Eury said, her hands gently pressed on my cheeks. I stayed silent for a moment, shocked and speechless. I finally spoke,breaking the silence.

"..thank you so much...I'm so lucky I have you in my life.." I said, as I pulled Eury in for a hug.

"Mhm..now I'm just gonna go ahead.. And.." Eury yawned, as she started to doze off again. I started thinking about mom, then I remembered what Eury said thinking about it, until I fell asleep.

I woke up, looking down at Eury, who was still asleep even though it was already 10:30 a.m.

"Wakee upp..." I said, gently shaking her to wake her up.

"Mm...five more minutes mom.." Eury mumbled. I smirked and started to tickle her slowly and softly, waiting for her to wake up.

Is she really not ticklish? I tickled her faster and with more pressure this time. Eury giggled, obviously trying not to react. I tickled her harder and faster now. Eury laughed and sat up, pushing my hands away from her.

"Okay, Okay I'm up." She said. I smiled and stretched.

"How was your slumber?" I asked her.

"I had a really...weird and interesting dream. More weird and frightening actually." Eury said.

"What was it about?" I asked intrigued.

"Well... I saw Blake and you together, you guys seemed flirty. I approached you, but was held back by Titania then I started mopping. My mom clapped and cheered me on saying I was doing a great job mopping and my dad criticized my technique in mopping and was like "I'll show you how it's done." then some horse racers with mops came out and my dad was like race mopping on foot. He won and then I woke up." Eury said. I burst out laughing, but felt slightly concerned.

" That's an amazing dream- except the blake part." I said

"Good thing I didn't go into much depth with that one then.." Eury said, but quickly changed the subject. "S-so what are you doing for your dad?"

"Uh, I'm not sure.." I replied.

"Ooo I know!" Eury said. "Wait I don't..but I can get an idea if you tell me a little more about him."

"Uh, he likes sports and dogs, specifically German Shepherds." I said.

"Is he a foodie? Is he very fond of food?" Eury asked.

"Oh yeah, he is." I replied.

"Does he like cake?" She asked.

"Chocolate cake, yes." I said, confused

"I'll be back, I need to go to the store." Eury said, getting out of the bed.

"C-can I come?" I asked.

"Why? Want to make sure no one hits on me?" Eury teased.

"I'm the only one that can do that!" I smirked, walking up to her and wrapping my arms around her waist.

"Hey, come on today is about your dad, not me." Eury said, smiling.

"Aww okay, only if you're with me though.." Fern mumbled, nuzzling Eury's neck.

____________________________________________________________________________We arrived at my house again, carrying a few of Eury's many bags.

"So what are we doing again?" I asked, confused.

"I'm going to bake." Eury answered.

"Bake? Bake what?" I asked.

"A German Shepard cake with a baseball next to it!" Eury said. That sounds so complicated though..

"How in the world are you going to do that?" I said

"I learned how to bake and cook at my old home, it was a requirement for us. Y'know..dad and the typical housewife gist. Women belong in the kitchen and cleaning, that stuff." Eury said, getting her materials ready.

"Dang..okay.." I said, imagining the results.

"Now, I'll tell your dad you made this, of course." Eury said, as she preheat the oven.

"Hey I want to give some credit to you to...I just helped you at the store." I said.

"I don't need the credit, besides it's your dad." Eury said, "Now I'm going to need the next 3-5 hours by myself so I can do this."

"Awe you don't want to get distracted by me?" I smirked.

"As much as I'd like to, no." Eury said.

"Alright, I'll leave you to do your thing." I said.

"Thank you." Eury said, before kissing my cheek and going off to her own thing. I kissed her back by surprise and jumped on the couch.

Two hours had passed and I checked in on Eury in the kitchen. I noticed the cake formed the shape of a dog in a sitting position with a ball in its mouth. Secretly, I yearned for Eury's attention. When is she going to pay attention to me?

She was focusing on a weird mix, it looked like icing and something else that was kinda clay like. The oven bell dinged and she quickly grabbed the pan, too focused on everything else that she didn't even put on oven mitts.

"Shit!" She exclaimed, quickly dropping the pan on the counter.

"Holy shit!" I said as I ran towards her, "I'll get the ice!" I panicked.

"Fuck, no no it's fine. I need to finish this." Eury said, as she put some gloves on to prevent any blood from getting on the cake.

"No no! You can't work on it, it'll be bad for your hands!" I said filling a bag with ice.

"I'm almost done, it won't be too bad." Eury said.

"N-no...I guess..I'll finish it for you." I said distracted.

"Trust me, you don't want to do that." Eury said.

"I don't want you to get more hurt than you are already!" I exclaimed. Eury stayed silent for a moment.

"I-I'll be fine, let me just finish it." She said. I kissed her.

"You can't do this while your hurt.." I said, softly.

"Just..trust me." Eury said. I looked at her worried, then nodded. Eury smiled and hugged me quickly, before she went back to work. I sat on the counter watching her.

"You move so quick..oh- that's what she said" I joked.

"Oh my god, Fern that was so bad I can't even be mad." Eury said,laughing.

"I'm the queen at bad jokes, step aside." I said,jumping off the counter. She was applying the designated icing color to the areas on the cake and had set the same pan back into the oven because it didn't come out all the way done. I came behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her cheek.

"Ah! Geez Fern, you scared me." Eury said,accidentally getting some icing on Fern's face.

"Oh crap!" I said, wiping part on the Icing off. I tasted a bit that was on my lip.

"Holy crap! That's some good icing!" I exclaimed.

"Heh..thanks, it's just something I learned.." She mumbled as she continue applying the icing. I put some on Eury's lip on purpose.

"Oh no I must've gotten some on your lip, however will I take it off?!" I said, dramatically.

"Oh no, what a tragedy, I guess it's stuck forever." Eury said, smirking.

"I'll be the hero and save the day, don't worry your majesty!" I pulled Eury in for a kiss.

"Ah wait my cake!" Eury said, pulling away and opening the oven,making sure to grab the oven mitt and pulling out the cake.

"Ah, there was nothing I could do your majesty, I have failed this quest" fern said.

"Ay Fern..what am I going to do with you?" Eury said, putting some icing on Fern's nose.

"Do whatever you must! For I, Fern,have failed."I smirked.

"Maybe another time, when I'm not making a cake sculpture." Eury said, sounding tired. I jumped onto the counter once again.

"Yes, ma'am" I said.

She continued, it was now 6 hours since she'd made this and it was starting to come together. She was placing the second layer of colored fondue on the cake. She's so cute I thought to myself.

"Ughhh why can't this be overrr.." Eury groaned exhausted, as she had just finished the cake and placed another food filled pan in the oven. She put away the materials she had used and put dirty dishes in the sink.

"So close yet so far." She mumbled.

"Do you want to take a nap? I'll watch over the potatoes for you." I asked

"No no, I still need to set the table and my hands and all that stuff." Eury said.

"Sounds like you need a long break once your done. Just take a shower right now, relax and I'll set the table." I said.

"I'll do that later, let me just finish this.." Eury mumbled. I walked to Eury and shook her.

"You need a break, come on. Trust me, you'll feel better." I said.

"Can I at least wait for the food to finish.." She asked.

"No, go now." I said.

"Feerrrnnn I don't need a break." Eury protested.

"Your tired, now go take a shower while I set the table and watch the food." I demanded

"...fine." Eury eventually gave in.

"Thank you" I said, sweetly. Eury nodded and went to the restroom.

As I set the table, I heard a beautiful song...a beautiful voice.

"Where is that coming from?" I asked myself. I checked the rooms and finally came to the restroom. IS THAT EURY?!

I heard the oven ding, signaling the food was finished. I jogged to the oven and put the mitt on and took it out. I covered them with foil so they would stay warm.

Eury came out about 30 minutes later, she had already bandaged up her hands and checked up on me.

"Is everything okay?" Eury asked.

"Yeah, the potatoes are ready and I set the table" I said proud.

"Thank you.." Eury said, hugging me.

"Your welcome.." I said,hugging her with a smile.

"I guess I should wash the dishes I used for the cake." Eury said. She still looks exhausted though..

"Thank you...for everything..you did an amazing job..you didn't need to, but you did anyways" I said hugging her from behind.

"Thanks and of course I'd do this...I want any holiday or day in general with you to be special and overfill the bad memories with the good.." Eury said.

"I love you" I said as I kissed her.

"Love you,too.." She said. I heard the door open and my father entered,coming home from work

"What's all this?" He said, looking around

"It's Father's Day things that Fern made for you." Eury said.

"Fern, you made this all for me?!" He gasped tearing up.

"Heh, yeah.." I said, feeling slightly bad for taking all the credit.

"You must be exhausted, this probably took you hours!" He said, still astonished.

"Well I mean, this is just a token of appreciation for all you did for me, and to show that I love you enough to do this. You deserve this, dad." I said, looking over to Eury.

"Eury, your hands!" He said, noticing the bandages around her hands.

"O-oh haha, umm I fell off my bike.." She said.

"Y-yup, I got her bandages though so it's fine" I said nervously.

"Soo..I feel kinda sick and I'm just going to go upstairs and yeah.." Eury said,awkwardly as she went up the stairs with her ice packs.

"Oh I'll go make sure she's okay, plus, I need to change." I said as I followed Eury. She went into the bedroom and layed down on the bed with the ice packs in her hands.

"Hm? You followed me.." Eury said, just realizing Fern did.

"Just wanted to check in..thanks again for going into the trouble of helping me.. n-now I'll change and leave you to rest." I said

"No problem.." Eury said, already dozing off. I changed into a t-shirt and some jeans. I brushed my hair and put it into a ponytail. I walked over to Eury and kissed her.

"Goodnight." I said as I left the room.

The night progressed pretty well. Mom,dad,and I had conversations and talked about how great the food was. Eury is a really great chef..I might have to reward her for that later. I thought. They praised me for how well I cooked and we played a few games together.

"Thank you so much for all this, Fern. It really means a lot." Her father said,embracing her.

"You're welcome." I said "Well I'm going to sleep, goodnight." I said going up the stairs.

"Goodnight, Fern!" They said. As I walked into the room it was dark so I had to be careful where I stepped. I finally got a hold of the bed and tried to find Eury. I pat the bed but she wasn't there. I walked slowly to the light and finally turned it on. I saw a blanket in the corner.

"Eury?.." I asked.

"Yes?" Eury asked, uncovering her head from the blanket.

"Why the hell are you in the corner covered by a blanket" I said

"I don't know, it makes me feel safe and I'm used to being in corners.: She answered.

Oh...well there's food, would like me to bring you some?" I asked

"I'm not hungry." Eury said.

"You sure?" I asked

"Yeah." Eury replied.

"Well I have to change.." I said. I started to undress and change into my pajamas

"So...I'll just be hanging out in this corner for the rest of the night." Eury said.

"Nope, not on my watch." I said as I lifted Eury from her corner and walked over to my bed. "Let's sleep together, I still didn't reward you for your amazing dinner" I said as I kissed her cheek.

"Mm...and what reward is that?" Eury mumbled.

"This-" I stopped and kissed Eury.

"That's a nice reward, but I was thinking more." Eury said,playfully.

"Like this?" I said as I kissed her neck.

"Mhm.." Eury said, "And you don't need to reward me for the food either..I would've done it even on a regular day...well without the burning my hands part."

"Ah I forgot about those.." I said as I kissed her hands "poor Eury...I'll deal with the oven later" I smirked.

"You hear that oven? You stand no chance against my gorgeous girlfriend." Eury said.

"Hah..you dork." I said as I kissed her over and over again.

"Okay okay, calm down!" Eury said,giggling.

"Your the gorgeous one!!!" I exclaimed

"Eh, you are. Like personality wise your fierce but sweet and caring. Physically you're strong and have some nice curves.." Eury said, running her hand along my thigh. I looked at her with a smirk. She is so kissable right now but fern, control yourself!.

"Hehehe" I zoned out thinking about..things. Eury laid back down.

"Goodnight, Fern." She mumbled.

"Goodnight, Eury." I said kissing Eury on the cheek and closing my eyes.
