Where are you from? (Country / State)

I'm from Australia. I love my country! It's so full of culture and great food.

When did you start writing? (At what age or which year)

I've been writing ever since I remember. I only started publishing this year, but I've always had a passion for writing.

Why do you like to write?

I like to write because it's really de-stressing. Writing allows me to escape from the real world and create one of my own. It's really relaxing and helps me get into my element.

Is English your mother tongue? If not, what is?

English is my mother tongue, although I am Lebanese.

How did you find out about Wattpad?

I found out through a friend who reads over here. After making an account, I realised publishing my works was a great way to gain exposure and criticism to improve my writing.

How long have you been using Wattpad?

I've been writing for approximately 3 months, but reading for a couple of years.

Are there moments that have inspired you to write?

Definitely. For example, COVID-19 has inspired my latest book, 'When I Leave'. Life-changing and dramatic events usually inspire my books, and my characters are generally inspired by TV characters or people in my life.

Does your culture affect your writing in anyway?

Yes. As a Catholic, I don't write crude, lewd or mature content.

Are you a night owl or an early bird?

I'm definitely a night owl. I always stay up late, and I'm the most productive in the evening.

What are the problems you face when you are writing?

Generally, just getting up and writing is the hardest part of being an author. However, writer's block is also a big challenge I face.

How much time do you take to write a chapter?

Approximately 1-2 hours, depending on the length, how motivated I'm feeling, and how long the editing process is.

Do you research things before writing? If so, what are the sites you use (if you're willing to share?)

While writing the early chapters, I did a lot of research on past pandemics, the setting of my story, and establishments in my setting. I wanted it to be based on reality.

Do you listen to music while writing? Do you have any playlists for writing?

Yes I do! I generally listen to rock and pop because they really get me in my element!

What does writing mean to you?

Writing means everything to me. Writing is my biggest passion, and the thing that brings my friends and I together. It's my fuel to get through the day. Knowing that I can write after school makes it pass a lot faster.

What's your happiest moment, in regards to writing ?

Definitely when I won the Rainbow Awards. It was a massive confidence boost and it encouraged me to keep writing and take my work to the next level! It also encouraged me to submit to the Watty's, which I will do once the submissions open :)

What do your friends and family think about your writing?

They are super supportive! They love my book and the premise, and they always help me out with editing, planning and reviewing! However, they don't let my writing interfere with my studies.

Is writing a part-time or full-time job for you?

Part-time! I am a student, so I can't write all the time.

What do you do for a living?

I am a high school student. It's not a career, but it's a full-time commitment.

Who is your favourite author?

Definitely Marie Lu! She is amazing and such an inspiration. Her books have really helped me through my journey as a writer.

What is your favourite book/s?

To Kill a Mockingbird and Warcross!

Who is your favourite Wattpad Author?

renegxde is an amazing writer and therefore they're my favourite of all time!

What's your favourite Wattpad book?

Like Hurricanes. It's a spin on a big cliche, and it's written beautifully!

How many books have you written?

Only one so far!

Which, in your opinion, is your best work?

'When I Leave,' is my best work because I only have one!

Which genre do you like writing?

I love writing Science Fiction and post-apocalyptic, mainly because I love reading these genres and I've gotten tonnes of inspiration from books of these genres.

What do you think success is?

Success is different for a lot of people. For me, it's reaching a goal, no matter how small. If I win a competition, it's a success, but if I eat 1200 calories a day, that's also a success. It just depends.

Do you have any tips for other writers out there?

Yes. Keep trying, and even if your book doesn't get recognition, keep going! It takes a while for your fan base to grow and for your reads to skyrocket. Be patient, because the time will come!

How do you overcome your writers block?

I spend some time away from the computer reading a book. When I come back, I've gotten ideas from the book and my time spent reflecting. It's good to just re-energise your brain once in a while.

What kind of environment do you prefer to write in?

A quiet relaxed environment such as my bedroom. It puts less pressure on me and helps me feel comfortable.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Definitely an introvert. I love peace and quiet, and time to myself to write.

Would you like to say something to the readers and writers of our community?

Keep going! It does get hard at times (I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt) but it's a part of life! Anything worth getting isn't going to come easy!

Do you have any comments about this interview and interviewer?

Not really! Thanks to the interviewer for doing this :)
