KNOCKING ON THE DOOR, Louis walked into my bedroom with Evie in his arms. Her face had the brightest smile planted on it and her olive eyes sparkled. I laughed once he closed the door behind them.
"She insisted on coming," Louis acknowledged. After he threw the toddler gently onto my queen sized bed, Evie's giggles echoed throughout the room. She curled up in a fuzzy blanket while holding a doll in her hands.
He took off his shoes and sat beside me. I sat cross-legged, and we both watched Evie stand up.
As she placed her tiny hands on her hips, she boasted, "Ryry, let me take Louis to show him my room!" Her baby voice was enough to make me give in.
Her honey blonde curls bounced as she jumped off the bed, she grabbed Louis' hand and practically dragged him out of the room. He had to bend down a bit for her to even lead him.
"So you're just gonna steal him from me?"
I followed them towards Evelin's room. The hallway was lit up from the overhead lights above us.
Louis' lips curled into a smile. Evie opened her bedroom door, and all three of us were overwhelmed with the amount of toys and decorations there where.
Her room was decorated in a bohemian theme, but you could still tell it was a toddler's room. There was one accent wall, the rest were white, with some small rainbows on it. Her toddler bed was planted in the corner and a big tan-colored rug was in the middle of the room. Even though she's only three, she most likely had the best room in the house.
Evelin being the youngest, you could say our parents spoiled her the most. She was their 2nd rainbow baby, after having another miscarriage. Even though I already had 3 siblings at the time, Evie's birth definitely completed our family.
The toddler showed Louis her dollhouse, her baby dolls, her play-kitchen, etc. He looked like he was enjoying every second of it, which warmed my heart.
And just saying, whenever boys play with children or babies, it's one of the most attractive things they could do.
Standing at the door-way, I watched the tour in front of me in awe. I was soon startled by another figure standing beside me.
"Who's this?" I turned towards my left and stood there was our other sibling, River.
River was the second youngest. He mostly stayed to himself, but of course, he was a light to our family as well. His 8 year old self was one of the most intelligent, sweetest, and kind kids I've ever met.
Clearing my throat, I informed, "This is Louis. Evie done took over him."
He laughed, which lead Louis' head to dart towards the front of the room. Louis stood up, and approached us. Evie pouted as she placed her Barbie car down.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Louis."
They shook hands, and presented themselves to each other.
After introducing themselves, we all headed back into my bedroom.
Louis and I plopped down onto my bed. I snuggled between two cozy and warm blankets. He laid beside me and we watched the two children write on my black chalkboard wall.
"When are you leaving again?" Louis' face dropped. "I mean, for England?"
A look of relief washed over his face and he awkwardly laughed, "Oh, um, tomorrow night."
I frowned.
Honestly, I knew it wasn't going to be for long, but I really didn't want him to go. We've been hanging out together and getting to know each-other for the past 2 weeks. I know that's not long, but I know I'll grow to miss him in his absence.
"But, I promised you I'll be back in time for your birthday." He gushed. Smiling, I rested my head on a pillow beside me.
The time was 7:23 pm and I was already somewhat tired. I know, I'm a grandma, but whenever you do absolutely nothing all day except lay around, it still makes you somewhat drowsy.
Evie placed a piece of pink chalk back into the box and Louis chuckled at her scribbles placed on the wall. Her small "masterpiece" still made her proud of herself, which I loved.
Seeing Louis get along with my siblings genuinely made me so cheerful. My last "flings" weren't like that. Not saying Louis is a fling or anything, but none of them wanted anything to do with Evelin or River, or even Margot, which is one of the biggest turn offs of all. But, Louis isn't like that, which is definitely incredible.
Standing up, Evie yawned. Her bedtime is around 8, but I knew as along Louis was here, she wouldn't sleep.
"Are you sleepy?" River asked her, he placed his chalk down as well. She shook her head dramatically and bolted towards Louis. Her drowsy eyes said something different.
She took him by surprise and jumped on him. He burst into a pit of laughter.
Ever since Halloween night at the party, I could tell Louis was more comfortable yet anxious if that makes a lick of sense. And, honestly, I was the same way. After the party, I hoped and hoped it didn't ruin anything, but maybe it did and maybe it didn't? I had no clue.
My thoughts were interrupted by Evelin gasping dramatically. I'm guessing her three year old mind remembered a thought from earlier.
Before any of us could say a word, she quickly grabbed Louis' head and whispered something into his ear. I say "whispered" very lightly. But, I still couldn't make out what she said.
The boy chuckled loudly, which made me nervous because there's no telling what she could've said.
They both look towards me. Her face had a mischievous look. River sat at the end of the bed.
"What did you-"
"Mommy said Lou was your boyfriend! But that doesn't make sense because he told me I was!"
My face turned red and Louis once again burst into a pit of laughter. Along with Evie and River as well.
Even though her baby voice was hard to learn, you could still make out what she said.
"Well, mommy lied-" Louis dramatically covered his heart as he was hurt.
He spoke up, "That's fine, I wanted Evie to be my girlfriend anyways." She snuggled up towards him and her eyes didn't leave mine. Her sneaky self knew what she was doing.
I playfully rolled my eyes and watched as Evelin's eyes started to close. She rested her head on Louis' chest, and went into her slumber.
"Carry her to Mom, River." I whispered, he scoffed. "I'm literally 8, she's half my size-"
I gave him dagger eyes and he gave in. Trying to grab her without waking her up, he picked her up out of Louis' arms.
The sight was honestly amusing, the eight year old carrying our baby sister was struggling, but he still managed to leave the room without dropping her.
Louis looked towards me, "They're adorable."
"Yeah, I guess you could say that."
The night consisted of Louis and I rambling about random things. Such as Enola Holmes, food, our friends, etc.
And even some personal things.
"Can I tell you something?" Louis questioned. He laid at the end of the bed with his head hanging off the edge. I laid beside him, but on my stomach.
Holding my chin in my hands, I nodded. He cleared his throat slightly.
Louis stated, "I feel like I can tell you anything." He turned on his stomach as well.
"I know I don't most of the time, but you listen to me like you know how it feels even though you might not."
As I turned my head towards him, he did the same. "You deserve to be listened to, Louis." I remarked. I saw his face turn red, which was odd considering I didn't mean for that to be a compliment.
"But, it's about girl stuff. I was sure you didn't want to hear about that? I mean, if a girl I liked said that stuff around me I would be upset."
I smirked at him. He raised his eyebrow. "Who said I liked you, Mr. Partridge?" Louis' face turned even warmer than before.
His voice croaked, "I didn't mean it like th-" I stopped him mid-sentence. "I'm teasing, you dork."
Laughing, he nodded his head and his cheeks started turning it's normal shade.
"But, I don't get upset because it's your feelings. It deserves to be listened to, no matter what the situation is."
The boy scooted closer towards me, our bodies touched. "What was her name?" I questioned.
He raised his eyebrow in confusion. "The girl."
"Oh, um, Claire," Louis replied. "I liked her and all but she turned out to be a gold digger, so."
Frowning, I rested my head on his shoulder for a few seconds. "I'm sorry."
"No! It's not your fault. It's hers."
It was a honor for him to even be trusting me like this. I loved him opening up to me and asking for advice/help. He seemed all hard around people, but with me he seemed vulnerable and soft. Which is common with teenage boys our age.
In our time, boys hardly ever express their feelings or their mental health due to their fathers or even their mothers persuading them not to. Even though this isn't the case with Louis, he still hardly opened up to people.
Breaking the silence, Louis sat up and walked towards my chalkboard wall. He grabbed a piece of blue chalk and started writing words, that I had no idea were considering his body covered them.
"Don't look!" He insisted as he caught me peeking. I chuckled and covered my eyes with my hands. The blue chalk rubbed against the wall, sending chills down my spine from the noise.
I added, "Gross." Still covered my eyes until he told me to open them. He placed the small piece of chalk back into it's box.
After he moved so I could see, I read the small message written on the black wall.
I'll miss you, Ms. Ryan
Love, Lou ♥
Pouting, I sat up in my bed. He sat at my desk chair and we continued to talk about random things.
I hated the thought of me already liking a boy I literally met almost 2 weeks ago. I couldn't help myself, though. His whole existence radiated happiness and love, which is rare with any other people.
Even if I had just met this person, the fact we already connected in a bunch of things was fascinating to me. My happiness had gone up farther since I've even met him.
But, it was about to go down very soon.
