"well, we could take measures this time to make sure it doesn't happen again, right?"

beelzebub looked unsure. "i don't know."

"do you think love is inevitable?" gabriel asked.

beelzebub shifted uncomfortably. they were in their usual position, slouching on the dirty chair, their legs spread. something about the question the archangel has asked felt odd.

"for your type," the prince of hell said. "i imagine it's inevitable. you're all made of love, right?" they slipped a mocking tone under the last question.

"love for everyone but us," they added quietly when gabriel didn't respond.

gabriel looked like he was about to say something, but he stopped himself.

"well, i still think that it's a good idea. someone to make sure everything's going well down there," the archangel said.

beelzebub shifted again in their seat. "if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself."

"are you implying we go to earth?"

beelzebub nodded shortly. "maybe we have to. i imagine that if we ask just any angel and demon to do it, they'll fall in love again, and maybe this time they'll come directly for us. you know what happened to ligur, right?"

gabriel looked down.

"would you be willing to go to earth, archangel?" beelzebub asked. "don't want to get your celestial body dirty, though, right? don't—"

gabriel cut beelzebub off. "stop. i'll go."

"good."

beelzebub looked around. the room sparkled, unrealistically clean. beelzebub silently imagined being on earth with gabriel. they turned to look at him for a moment. gabriel was handsome, his sharp features the epitome of masculinity. he was huge too, he absolutely dwarfed beelzebub. beelzebub wondered if he thought he was intimidating.

beelzebub also imagined straddling the width of gabriel's chest and holding him down and... beelzebub couldn't quite decide whether they wanted to kill him or tempt him. but it was just a thought, nothing more, never would be.
