Chapter Two
Kayy soo right now im super pissed and im writing. @xonceuponatimex better know how much i love her.
"Herman, we have an American. They tried to get information out of him but nothing they did worked. They brought him for you to break him" Adel nodded, hiding his smirk. He was always up for a chance to break someone. He loved the feeling of watching their sanity break, knowing he had complete power of them. He headed towards the room they put the American in. He walked in and saw a beat up, bloody and bruised, boy lying on the ground. He was naked and his head was already shaved.
"Please tell me you speak English?" Since the first group of soldiers, no one Jesse had met had.
"Do not speak unless you are spoken to!" He yelled in perfect English and Jesse flinched. His parents had learned English and taught it to him.
"I can help you, if you just tell me what you know"
"I'm gonna die anyways. I'll die protecting my country" Adel wanted to kill him but they needed the information on what the Americans and their allies were planning. Adel could break him, that was his specialty. He looked at the American. He had brown hair and you could hardly make out his pretty hazel eyes because they were swollen. Adel let his mind wander. Adel had seen some soldiers doing things together, most soldiers did but they never said anything to higher authorities. He couldn't figure out why because homosexuals were part of the people they were taking care of.
Maybe because they people that saw were like him. They wanted to be with a man. He knew he couldn't because he was in a camp now. He was on watch more closely. The foot soldiers were the only ones who had a chance with getting away with it. He also knew that he had disgraced his family enough by joining, he couldn't have them now he was killed because he was with another male.
If this boy was not the enemy Adel saw himself willing to try though. He had never met anyone this attractive. He knew most Americans were, which he was jealous of. He forced his eyes not to look at the boy's body.
"Are you going to kill me yet?" The boy asked, snapping him from his thoughts. Thoughts he shouldn't have been thinking in the first place. He pushed the thoughts and feelings away.
"No. Get up, Now!" The boy stood as fast as he could. "Follow me" Adel told him. They walked into a room. Adel threw some old clothes at him. Jesse gladly put them on and Adel was just as glad not to be tempted anymore.
Adel took him to a small cramped single room. It was dirty and you couldn't commuinicate with another being. It was enough to drive someone to their breaking point.
"This is where you will sleep. After roll call and dinner, you will report back here, every night. I will come by personally. If you are not here when I check, there will be consequences"
"Why don't you just kill me?"
"You missed supper tonight. Go to sleep" Adel opened the door and pushed him in and closed and locked it. Adel liked that the American was brave and feisty, but he wouldn't admit it to himself.
Adel woke the boy up before the sun had risen. He made him run around the outside of the camp until noon. Jesse was ready to pass out. He handed him a glass of water and he gladly drank it.
"Ready to tell me anything yet?" Jesse kept silent. Adel sighed.
"Follow me" He told the American. He led the boy to an area that had heavy wood for the crematory.
"Carry this to that building until I tell you, you can stop" He said pointing to the creamatory.
The boy was strong now but once his body started craving water, sleep, and food, this would be torture. And that's what it became.
***************
That night after roll call and supper, Jesse was lying in the dark cramped room. He was aching all over and wanted sleep but couldn't get the smell of death out of his thoughts. He saw the ashes. He knew what he was carrying wood to and what for. He vomited at first and the German beat him for it. What kind of people would do such a thing? He cringed when his door opened.
A light shone in and he saw the German.
"Good, You're here" He said slightly grinning.
"What is your name?" The German asked.
"Jesse"
"Such an American name, suiting" Jesse clenched his teeth.
"Last name?" Jesse kept silent.
"Fine. No water tomorrow. Good night Jesse" The door slammed shut and Jesse sighed. He wanted to cry but the tears wouldn't fall.
The next day, Adel kept his word, no water for him. He was walking back and forth carrying wood, using his inner strength not to vomit and cry. Another German walked up.
"Hello Adel" That was all Jesse could understand. He assumed it was the Germans name. He continued his work. The two German were laughing and talking in their native tongue but Jesse made out an Otto. He figured it was the other Germans name.
"Okay Jesse, you can stop this job. My friend here found a better one" Jesse knew this wouldn't be good. Adel walked Jesse to another area. Jessie managed to swallow his vomit and bit his tongue to keep from crying and screaming. There were piles of dead bodies everywhere.
"Take these bodies to the same building" Adel told him. Jesse watched other prisoners doing the same thing and they looked worse off than him so he bent down and picked the body of a little boy up. Jesse felt his strength, faith, and innocence fading away.
