The Snap Reversed (Finale)
Hey guys!! Here's the much requested ending of this hetalia x marvel crossover. Also prepare for endgame spoilers. Enjoy!
——————————
It's been five years.
Five years since the snap. It had taken what was left of the nations awhile to figure it out. Even then they got an answer that made their stomachs twist. The story was that an alien called the Mad Titian Thanos had stolen 6 Infinity Stones from different parts of the universe and then used them to wipe out half the population of said universe.
They had all spoken with the former avengers about how they tried to stop him but in the end failed. What was left of the avengers had managed to track down Thanos and the stones. Everyone was over joyed at this. They could finally have everyone back! They could finally have America back!
Now you may be wondering about that last part since all the other countries hate America, right? Well it turns out it wasn't that simple. In America and the other countries who had disappeared absents, all the others had come to realize they had taken the blonde for granted and now they finally get a shot at seeing him again.
Only it would never happen.
The former heroes had managed to track Thanos to some unknown alien planet. A few nations offered to go with them but some raccoon like creature told them that it was too dangerous for anyone who didn't know what they were doing. This brought about many a protest. They were immortal beings for crying out loud!! They'd lived longer than any of the avengers and now they were just getting benched?
The former avengers eyes left no room for argument about this. They had all lost someone in the snap that day. Friends, enemies, lovers, etc. So the nations sat and waited for them to return with the stones and (potentially) Thanos himself. They had been waiting in a meeting room in the avengers HQ for awhile now but when the former avengers walked in horrified looks on their faces, they knew something wasn't right.
"Well?" England had asked looking at the slightly shaking avengers. "Did you get the stones?" England's question was followed by shakes of the head that had sent them all into a panic. "Thanos destroyed the stones. And then Thor killed him." Captain Rogers had said a downcast expression on his face. "VHAT?!" Prussia had shouted glaring at the avengers whose expressions never changed from the look of failure. They had failed again.
"So we have no hope of getting our friends back?" Spain's voice was trembling at this so Romano had pulled him into a comforting hug while trying to hold back his own tears. He would never get to see his little brother again. Black Widow shook her head. "I'm so sorry for your losses.." She had apologized bringing Fourth a reality none of them wanted to face.
Everyone was gone.
And there was nothing they could do about.
————————————
As time went on, the atmosphere in the meetings had become depressive and tense. No one ever spoke. The only sounds that could be heard were the sobs of grief. They still had to hold meetings because of their bosses but none of them ever put any effort into it. It just wasn't the same without America boasting about his new hero plans or without Italy bugging Germany about pasta.
Some of the most cheerful people among them were dead and they just couldn't move on.
Normally when your a nation, fading away is just part of life but this time it was different. When nations fade its usually after their country has been completely destroyed. It was painful. They always knew some of them would fade eventually, it's just their way of life but they always knew when someone was going to fade.
Every nation would feel the loss of life along their kind so they knew what was happening. With the snap they didn't know what was happening and it shook them to their cores.
The sad mood stayed there for nearly five years until they were contacted by the former avengers. A new hope had averaged as a possibility to get the stone back going in time. It had lifted the mood of the meetings as they were hopeful about seeing their friends again but, they never hoped for too much. Hoping for too much would just lead to more disappointment and heartbreak.
So they waited.
For long agonizing hours, they waited. They waited for the avengers to return with the stones just like they had been planning to almost five years ago. Waiting gave them time to think about the last fives years in their lives. Nothing had really changed appearance wise but everyone's moods were always that of grieving and loss.
Since they didn't have bodies they couldn't hold a funeral so the names of everyone that had been snapped out were placed on large columns of stone all around the world. On every anniversary of the snap, the nations would go and look at the names of their fallen comrades and people.
There was also a lot of regret. Regret for making fun of Germany for being so strict. Regret for teasing Italy about his intelligence. Regret for laughing behind America's back all those years. Regret for pushing away South Korea. America's death had hit everyone the hardest. He always brought smiles to everyone he met. It was a gift. A gift they had taken for granted.
His last words still haunt them all to this day.
"I'm sorry...I could've stopped this but I didn't. Forgive me...for not being a hero."
He had disappeared thinking that they were all mad at him for the snap. They could never blame him for something like this. The only person to blame had had his head chopped off by the god of thunder. Some of the nations hated Thor for that. They wanted someone to blame. Someone to hurt for their losses.
And now they've got a chance to see America and everyone again but later they would be asking themselves,
At what cost?
——————————
The world around them had become a wasteland after the second snap. Hulk had been the one to do it since he was physically the strongest out of all the heroes left. He had snapped his fingers and ten world around them turned into chaos.
Most of them weren't even sure if it had worked but then they had a light feeling in their chests. Russia smiled as realization came upon him. Fredka and his big sister were back. He could feel it in his bones. It seemed everyone else around them had realized it to because everyone started smiling. No one had smiled since the snap. Not even Spain.
The world around them looked like hell itself but they didn't care. The only thing they cared about were finding their fellow nations. And apparently they didn't have to look too far.
"Yikes! My heads killing me."
Eyes snapped in the direction of the voice since everyone knew that voice all too well. The voice that was always so bright and cheerful. The voice that was the light in the darkness for most people who knew the owner.
"Germany! Germany! We are-a back!" Another voice called out which was responded to in German. Prussia nearly cried at hearing his younger brother's voice it. It had been so long that Prussia almost forgot what he sounded like. Almost. "Hermano." A accented voice said brining Canada's attention to it. Mexico stood there with Philippines at his side smiling.
Spain and Canada couldn't stop themselves when they launched their bodies at the two nations. Philippines and Mexico accepted them with open arms into a hug. Slowly more and more of the disappeared nations began to appear and were greeted with hugs. The only person still missing was the one everyone missed most.
They had just heard his voice so he has to be here. Then he appeared. America slowly emerged from wherever he'd been holding his head in pain. America had a killer headache! He didn't even remember wha-
The snap.
America's eyes widened as he looked around at the absolutely hell that surrounded him. Was everyone okay? How long had it been? America was so caught up in looking around that he didn't see the rest of the world staring at him with big grins on their faces. "America!!!" Canada and Mexico shouted causing America to look over at where the group was.
The other North American brothers didn't give America a chance to run as they tackled him into a hug. America was shocked when he saw his brothers for the first time in what felt like forever. He got even more shocked when everyone else joined in on the hug. Normally no one would look him in the eye let alone hug him.
"Ve missed jou, jou idiot." Prussia and Denmark smirked at the youngest member of their awesome trio. "H..How long has it been?" America asked looking at everyone around him. "Five years.." Spain said. Gasps could be heard throughout the area as the nations who were snapped stared at everyone with widened eyes.
"Has it really been that long?" Germany asked. Prussia nodded at his little brother then a question came to his head. "Hov long vas it for jou?" Prussia asked. "Five-a minutes." Italy answered brining even more shock to the group. Everyone wanted to ask more questions but all conversations were immediately cut when America clenched his chest like he was in pain.
"America?" Russia said the others name concerned. America could feel it. One of his people just died. Whenever someone close to America dies, an image of them flashes through his head. An image of Tony Stark flashed through his mind. His wife Pepper Potts was holding him. She told he could rest so he closed his eyes. Eyes that would never open again.
America felt tears slip through his eyes. "No..." He muttered looking completely at a loss for words. Around him everyone was asking him if he was okay but he didn't answer as he was silenced by his new found grief.
They had won but at what cost?
—————————
Alfred Jones attended Tony Stark's funeral where he met his daughter. She looked like a good mixture of Tony and Pepper. He stood beside Peter Parker (Spider-Man) with a downcast expression. Tony has been Peter's mentor and surrogate father figure for a long time.
Alfred wasn't alone in his grieving since Everyone around him was also grieving for not only Tony but for Natasha as well. The other nations were also acting nicer towards him, even the ones he knew hard his guts. It was...nice to be treated like a human being for once.
He may have lost people but he gained so many. He made a promise to help Pepper look after Morgan Stark after the funeral which she accepted with a hug and a grateful smile. He comforted Peter when he came crying to him over Tony's death. He supported Steve Rogers decision to go back to the past so he could be with his one true love.
The snap was one of the worst things to humanity and it wouldn't be forgotten any time soon. But maybe with family and friends they could heal over time.
