The Snap: Hetalia Perspective
This is basically the Hetalia version of what happened during the snap in Avengers Infinity War. WARNING: There will be spoilers for Infinity War and potentially Avengers Endgame so if you haven't seen either of those, don't read this because no one likes spoilers. Another warning is that you should be aware of the character death(?) that comes with it. Now enjoy!
————————————
It had started out as just a regular day for America.
He had woken up as per usual, took a shower, gotten dressed, had breakfast, gathered all his papers up and into his briefcase, and said goodbye to Tony with time to spare. Then again, the fact that he had a semi-normal morning should have tipped him off from the start. Nothing in his life could ever be classified as normal.
He's the immortal Personification of the United States of America and he knows Personifications of almost all other countries. America's got too many battles scars to count. Some he doesn't even remember where they came from. He's seen people be born, he's seen them live their lives, and then he watches helplessly as they wither away into nothing until they pass on and into the next life. It was...lonely.
The only people that were consistent in his endless life were the other Personifications and he doesn't get along with them all that well. There is something else though. Alfred kept tabs on all of his heroes. He stayed in contact with Captain Rogers even though the man was considered a criminal. He did the same for all the avengers even though they weren't technically the avengers anymore.
Cap had updated him last night that they were going to try and stop a titan named Thanos. Apparently the mad titan was looking for stones that would give him infinite power. The Captain had called them 'Infinity Stones'. If Thanos got his hands on the stones then he would use it to wipe out half of the universe. Alfred had wanted to help them but Steve refused his offer.
He said that he needed to focus on his life right now and that they would take care of it. Alfred had been doubtful of this but decided to put his faith in his former comrade. He and Steve had fought together in the 40's against Hydra and The Axis Powers. It had broken Alfred's heart when he learned that his friend had perished saving his country. America didn't have time to grieve since he had to deal with the aftermath of the war.
He helped Howard Stark with his research but still kept things from him at Peggy Carter's orders. The Tesseract was powerful and Alfred didn't want Howard to get hurt. He was at Howard's wedding and was there to help take care of his son, Anthony. Then Howard and his wife died, leaving America with so many questions. Questions nobody wanted to answer.
Alfred helped Tony grieve the loss of his parents while encouraging him to pursue his dreams and ideas. Alfred then was called to S.H.I.E.L.D to help with a new agent. Her name was Natasha Romanoff and she was a Russian spy. Apparently Clint Barton had spared her life. Clint was one of the few people that Alfred actually trusted. He was currently under house arrest and unable to fight with the others.
Then there was Hulk and Thor. The two had been in some alien Battle Royale recently but had arrived back on earth to help stop Thanos. Alfred was the only one outside of former avengers who knew about what was going.
He had faith in them that they would win. He'd seen their rise, their fall, and everything else in between. So America would just sit on the sidelines for now and wait for Captain Rogers to contact him again.
America had been so caught up in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed that he had arrived at meeting building. He entered the skyscraper like building smiling when he saw his older brother, Canada. "Yo Canada!!!" He exclaimed running up to his brother who looked surprised as he was suddenly tackled by his younger but slightly stronger brother.
"H-Hey America.." The Canadian stuttered as his brother smiled brightly at him. "What's up? We haven't talk in awhile and I can't talk in meetings without bushybrows telling me to shut it." America said happy to see his brother. Canada smiled at his brother. America was always just a ray of sunshine. Such a shame not everyone saw it.
The two brothers got off the floor with America muttering an embarrassed apology. Canada giggled lightly. "It's okay, Al. I've missed you too." The slightly older nation said smiling softly. "Cool! I'd love to talk more but we're gonna be late." America pointed out causing Canada to look at his watch. America was indeed right. If they didn't book it to the meeting room then they would be late.
They then proceeded to run like hell towards the meeting room.
————————————
America and Canada had managed to get to the meeting room in time but were not spared the intense glares of the older, grouchier nations. America received the few insults as he made his to his seat but like usual, he brushed them off like it was nothing.
He had much more to worry about then petty insults from petty people.
America took his seat that was next to Mexico's and Brazil's. His little brother and cousin smiled at him as he sat down which he returned full force. "Hey America." Mexico greeted. "Sup' Mexico?" America asked the Mexican. Mexico shrugged and said he was doing fine. Brazil looked like he was about to say something but was stopped by Germany's stern glare that told them to shut up or else.
The trio quieter down allowing Germany to start the meeting. The meeting went on as per usual with boring speeches and the occasional falling asleep. America was just about to doze off when he heard something that made his blood run cold.
SNAP
America's head shot up as the sound echoed throughout his head. He looked around the room wondering if it had just been his imagination. It seemed a few others heard the sound as well. "What was that?" Italy asked gaining confused looks from the nations who hadn't heard it. "Vhat are jou taking about?" Prussia asked the Italian. "You mean you guys didn't hear I—" Colombia had started speaking but then she started to disappear into dust bringing everyone into a panic.
"Is she fading?!" Spain shouted as the Colombian girl disappeared into nothing. "No." China answered gaining stares. "She would have glowed and slowly disappeared into a bright light but now she just turned to dust." No one knew what to make of this but then Germany began to disappear. "Vest!" Prussia shouted as his little brother turned to dust as well. "Brude-" Germany didn't have time to finish calling out to his brother as he disappeared.
"V..Vhere did he go?" Prussia cried out looking at the spot where his brother had just been. "I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with magic. England what do you think—" Brazil didn't have time to finish his sentence as he started disappearing too. "Brazil!" America tried to grab onto his cousin but he turned to dust in America's hands.
America watched helplessly as more nations started to disappear. North Italy. Brazil. Venezuela. Ukraine. Estonia. Latvia. Malaysia. Nearly half of everyone in the meeting was turning into dust and America had no idea what was happening—
Wait...half of everyone. Half.
"Oh no..." America muttered finally knowing what was happening. The avengers had failed to stop Thanos and now half of everyone in the universe was being erased from existence. Canada must have noticed his now distraught look and brought it to attention. "Al? Do you know something?" Canada asked grabbing his younger brother's shoulders. Sky blue clashed with Amethyst purple. "They...They lost. And now half of everyone is being erased." Alfred muttered shaking.
"Who lost? What're you talking about?" Canada noticed his brother was shaking. "The avengers...they were supposed to stop him but they failed. I don't know what to do..." Alfred felt a sudden dizzy overcome him and he fell into his Canadian brother. "Al? Alfred!!!" Canada's shout got attention for once and they all crowded around the brothers with Mexico joining them.
"He's....He's disappearing...." Denmark said in panicking voice. His little brother was disappearing and he couldn't do anything. "What!!!!" England shouted looking at his brother who was in fact fading away like the others. "Querido Dios..." Spain muttered. The Philippines was next to him then she started to fade away as well. "Spain." She spoke bringing the Spaniard's attention to her.
The Spaniard didn't say anything as he hugged his little sister tightly. Slowly she turned to dust in Spain 's arms. She was gone. Spain felt a tear slip past his closed eyes (when had he closed them?). "Israel!" Someone shouted as the Israeli Nation faded away as well. America coughed bringing everyone's attention back to him.
"I'm sorry.." he hissed as he slowly faded away. "I could've stopped this but I didn't. Forgive me...for not being a hero.." With those final words spoken America faded away into dust.
"America..." Canada looked at Mexico who had also started turning to turning to dust. "Mex!!" Canada and Spain jumped towards the Mexican Nation but came in contact with the ground instead. Canada had no idea what to do. His little brothers were gone.
"America's gone..." Belarus felt tears starting to form in her eyes. She ran up to Russia and hugged her brother. For once, Russia didn't push her away. He stared blankly at the spots where his older sister and his rival had disappeared. Two of the people he loved most in his life were gone.
It was on that day, that the nations lost almost everyone they cared about.
And there was nothing they could've done to stop it.
