Alfred F. Jones isn't the most popular kid in Hetalia high. Oh who is he kidding. He's not popular at all. He had messy golden blonde hair that sometimes got in the way in his line of sight. A pair of broken wire rimmed glasses sat on the bridge of his nose that was being held together by a couple pieces of scotch tape. His eyes were an unnatural shade of blue. They were between baby blue and sky blue.
He still hadn't put grown his baby fat even though he was seventeen. His classmates (mostly the football team) insulted his weight and intelligence on a regular basis despite Alfred having better grades than all of them. He was insecure because of the teasing and his self-confidence was in pieces. He was ugly. He knew it. Everyone knew it.
But, what if it wasn't that way?
What if in reality, Alfred was a beautiful young man? What if his classmates felt so threatened and attracted to him that they thought the only way to get rid of these unwanted feelings was to shatter what little self worth he had? Well such is the case with Im-Hyung-Soo.
He had feelings for Alfred Jones. He didn't want these feelings. He didn't need them. That stupid American was just messing with his head. He had been since he laid eyes on the blonde at the start of freshmen year.
Hyung Soo had been walking the halls bored out of his mind. He had been let out of class early along with the rest of his classmates. His little brother had been walking beside him chatting about something Hyung Soo wasn't interested in. He had just turned the corner when he ran into someone.
Hyung-Soo fell flat on his ass letting out a slight hiss as he fell to the ground. He was about to stand up but was taken aback when a sun-kissed hand offered itself to him. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?" A voice asked frantically. Hyung-Soo looked up angry and was about to yell at the person who had clearly knocked him over but his breath left his lungs the second he gazed upon the stranger.
The young man looked to be about his age with hair that looked like it was made with the finest golden silk. His eyes were unnaturally wide like that of a puppy's and were a deep shade of blue that made him shiver when they locked onto his own golden-brown orbs. He was taller than Hyung-Soo which vexed him greatly but he overlooked that when he saw slight muscle underneath the boys clothes.
"Are you okay? You seem dazed." The young man said looking concerned. Hyung-Soo blushed when he realized he had been checking his classmate out and angrily swatted the offered hand away. "I'm fine, dumbass! You should watch where you're going!" Hyung-Soo then stood up and started stomping away ignoring his brother calling for him to come back.
The blonde beauty looked confused at this but shrugged off his weird behavior as having a bad day.
——————————
It took Hyung-Soo awhile to figure out the blonde beauty's name. His name was Alfred F. Jones. He was in Hyung-Soo's class only sitting a few rows in front of him. That was almost two years ago. Now they're both juniors.
Hyung-Soo wasn't sure if he had intentionally started calling Alfred names but he felt it relieved some of the tension building up within him. He had gotten others to join in as well and soon enough their entire class despised Alfred. Hyung-Soo had to admit that it hurt him whenever Alfred would look hurt at the insults and jabbing. He loves Alfred but he doesn't know if he'll ever tell him or act on it.
Or at least those were Hyung-Soo's thoughts until he saw Alfred with him.
Gilbert Beilschmidt. Gilbert was one of many transfer students that had come to their school in recent years. He and his little brother Ludwig had come from Germany along with some exchange students from Austria and Hungary. Gilbert and Alfred had become friends almost immediately after meeting each other.
The smile Alfred gave Gilbert was one that Hyung-Soo wanted all to himself. It took him awhile to remember that Alfred Jones was not his. It just wasn't fair that Gilbert got those smiles while Hyung-Soo didn't.
His rage began to boil over until he snapped. His inability to control his temper and actions would result in him loosing what he loved most.

Alfred was so happy. He'd finally met someone who wasn't disgusted by his appearance. He had met Gilbert through his little brother, Ludwig. Alfred and Ludwig were in the same history class and were assigned to work on a project together. The topic was WWII.
Ludwig was a transfer student from Germany along with his older brother, Gilbert who was a senior. "Vhat's jour name?" The German asked blushing slightly. "Oh my names Alfred. Alfred Jones. It's nice to meet you, Ludwig." Alfred said stretching out an hand for Ludwig to shake which he did with a now fiery blush on his face. "I-It's nice to meet jou, Alfred." The German said still blushing furiously.
Alfred was confused at the blush. Was Ludwig sick? "Are you okay? Do you have a fever?" Alfred asked placing a hand on Ludwig's forehead. The German shook his head and gently removed the hand from his forehead. "Nein. Vell vould jou like to meet up in the library after school?" Ludwig asked the American and got a bright smile in return.
"Yo, Bruder!"
The blonde duo turned their heads towards a loud voice that had just entered their classroom. Ludwig's eyebrow twitched at the sight of his annoying older brother. The albino smirked and threw an arm around his slightly taller brother's shoulder. "Vhat's vith that annoyed face? Jou should be grateful that the awesome me had come to visit the not so awesome jou." The Albino said still smirking.
Ludwig's eyebrow twitched again Alfred look concerned for his classmates wellbeing but was also a little curious as to who the albino was. "Um..excuse me, but who are you?" Alfred asked bringing the attention of the two brothers into him. The albino let out a wolf whistle at the sight of the blonde and nudge his younger brother.
"Damn, Lud! I didn't know jou got a girlfriend."
Ludwig facepalmed while Alfred looked confused at the statement. "But I'm not a girl..." Alfred muttered loud enough for the albino to hear. His jaw dropped slightly at this. This was a guy? "Jour a guy?" The albino squawked not believing what he was told. "Yes? My names Alfred. Alfred Jones." Alfred, not realizing the situation, stuck his hand out for the albino to shake which he did surprisingly quietly.
"Alfred. I think jou did the impossible." Ludwig started looking rather serious which scared Alfred a little bit as he thought he had offended the German exchange student. "Jou made my bruder go quiet! No ones ever done that before." Ludwig said a small microscopic smile appearing on his face. Alfred smiled brightly at seeing the usually stoic German man smile. It was a nice change from Ludwig's normally blank expression.
Gilbert looked at the smile on his brother's face thoughtfully then turned back to look at the smiling American. 'This kid is insane' Gilbert thought as he patted Alfred on the shoulder. "Jou seem like a nice kid. Wanna eat lunch with me and Luddy today?" Gilbert's words made Alfred smile gleefully. No one ever wanted to have lunch with him because he was so ugly but these guys actually wanted to hang out with him. "Of course! What's your name again?" Alfred asked gaining a smirk from Gilbert.
"It's Gilbert Beilschmidt."
—————————
Turns out Gilbert and Ludwig were brothers even though they didn't look like it. Then again Alfred was American while his older brothers were British, Canadian, and French so he really had no room to talk. Gilbert was really funny and social unlike his brother who just watched them quietly with amusement as they talked about comic books.
It reminded Alfred so much of how he and his older twin brother, Matthew used to act. Now Matthew barely speaks to Alfred and has even joined in on some of the bullying. It made Alfred sad to think about his brother but he instantly cheered up when he and Gilbert continued talking. This guy really is awesome!!
Over the next couple weeks, Alfred, Ludwig, and Gilbert would each lunch together and talk about how their days were going. Well mostly Alfred and Gilbert would talk while Ludwig listened. It was almost to good to be true. For so long Alfred had eaten lunch alone after being completely ostracized by his peers but now he had two friends to eat with and he couldn't be happier.
But there was something else.
Hyung-Soo, one of Alfred's classmates and bullies, had been glaring holes into the back of his head for weeks now. Now this was nothing new as Alfred knows Hyung-Soo hates his guts but this just feels different. Almost..possessive in a way. Alfred may just be over thinking things.
Oh how wrong he was.
One day Alfred was on his way to meet Gilbert and Ludwig for lunch when something grabbed his by the arm and pulled him into an empty classroom. He winced as he was slammed against the wall. The room was dark but Alfred could see a familiar pair of golden-brown eyes glaring into his unnaturally blue ones. "Hyung-Soo?" Alfred asked not sure what the shorter student wanted with him. "Shut up." Hyung-Soo growled. Literally growled at him. "Why do you keep hanging around with that albino, Alfred?" The North Korean asked surprising the American. Hyung-Soo never called Alfred by his given name.
It was always Jones or some other insult but never Alfred. And why was he concerned about Alfred handing around with Gilbert? "Why are concerned about me hanging with Gilbert? We're friends and I don't see how that any of your business." Alfred snapped pissed off. He had had enough of Hyung-Soo and his behavior towards him.
Hyung-Soo taken aback by this. Was Alfred standing up for himself? "What is your problem with me anyway? I bumped into you once during freshman year and ever since then, you've made my life a living hell!" Alfred ranted years of pent up rage finally boiling over. "I..I-" Hyung-Soo honestly didn't know what to do. He counted on a lot of things happening today but this wasn't one of them.
"Got nothing to say? Figured as much. You have no excuse for treating me like crap like you have been doing for years. Why-" Alfred was cut off when a pair of smooth lips pressed against his own chapped ones. Hyung-Soo didn't know what had come over him. Hearing Alfred finally try and put him in his place just made him fall in love with him more. Alfred gasped at the sudden kiss and started protesting immediately.
Somehow Hyung-Soo was stronger than Alfred and managed to hold Alfred by his face. Kissing Alfred was everything Hyung-Soo had imagined and more. He tasted like apples and cinnamon and it was so warm that Hyung-Soo could just—
Alfred saw Hyung-Soo was distracted and swung a punch at his stomach. The punch landed causing Hyung-Soo to break the kiss to cry out in pain. "I'm sorry.." Was all Alfred said before he ran out of the classroom leaving Hyung-Soo curled up on the floor regret and rejection fresh on his mind.
