HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

America should've expected this.
He knew he wasn't really well liked among the Personifications of Countries but he'd at least thought they'd remember his birthday. After all he remembered all of theirs and there were a lot of countries to remember. So when his birthday rolled around, he didn't even get a Happy Birthday from his older brother, Canada. Granted, America forgot about Canada sometimes but he always remembered Canada's birthday. Hell, he even threw him a party because everyone always forgot it. He hated seeing his older brother so sad.
He remembered everyone's birthdays but it seemed that they can't be bothered to remember his and that freaking stung. On top of that he was swamped with paperwork and meetings almost all day so he couldn't even celebrate himself. So here he is, sitting in some stupid meeting with people who don't give a damn thing about him when he could be celebrating with people who actually do care about him. Tyler, Tony, and Molossia. They were his true friends, friends who stayed be his side even though he wasn't usually the most pleasant nation to be around.
But on the upside though, the meeting was going end soon so that meant he could leave and go celebrate with his people. His people always loved the Fourth of July. They were so proud to be American and that brought tears to his eyes which he quickly pushed down not wanting to cry in front of the world. "That's all for today. Meeting adjourned." Germany finally declared causing America to grab his stuff and bolt out of the room leaving more than a few nations confused.
"Vhy's he so excited? Did something happen?" Prussia asked Canada who looked at the ex-empire with a blank stare. "You really don't remember, do you?" Canada remarked quietly but most of the nations heard him. "Remember what, Maple Bastard?" Romano snapped at the quiet Canadian who just shook his heads at them. "That today's America's birthday." That trigged shocked gasps and looks of disbelief from the countries currently occupying the world meeting room. England didn't look too happy about being reminded that today marks the day he lost his little brother but kept silent.
"Ve~, Really? I had-a no idea." Italy said to the Canadian who just sighed into his bear already knowing everyone most likely forgot about his little brother's birthday. Hell, even he forgot until like twenty minutes ago but didn't say anything since they were in a meeting. "I don't think anyone knew or maybe everyone just forgot. I only remembered it just twenty minutes ago." Canada admitted ashamed that he had forgotten about America's birthday when America always remembered his.
"Man, that's tough. Hov old is he anyvay?" Prussia asked the other Personifications who looked like they were trying to come up with an answer but drew a blank. "He's 243 years old today." Mexico stated from his seat causing all heads to turn towards him. "And it's been 527 years since Finland and Sweden found him." Mexico pointed out looking at the two Nordic countries who looked shocked at how much time had passed since they'd first discovered little America. "So in total he's 770 years old." Columbia said drawing heads to her as well.
"Und ve all forgot it." Germany pointed out and it sadly was true so no one could deny it. "It's not like he matters anyway, so it's not really much of a loss." Cuba sneered but quickly went pale when glares were thrown his way and weapons were drawn. "Shut your trap, Cuba." Mexico growled causing Cuba to cower away from the angry Mexican and sink into his seat.
"Has it really been that long?" Denmark asked himself trying to figure out where all that time went. At Canada's nod Denmark sunk into his seat ashamed of himself. "I'm the worst friend ever. I forgot my best friend's birthday and he remembered mine." Denmark groaned feeling so bad for forgetting about one of his best friends birthday. "Same here." Prussia agreed mad at himself for forgetting. Even if Prussia was no longer a nation, America still celebrated his birthday with him.
"We really screwed up this time." Brazil said pointing out the obvious. "You don't say?" Australia said glaring at Brazil. "It's not too late, you know?" Canada spoke quietly. "What do you mean, Matthieu?" France asked the amethyst eyed nation who pointed at the door. "We can still throw America a party. It'll be a little last minute but we can do it." Canada said gaining cheers of agreement from the crowd of nations even the nations who didn't like America gave a small nod at the idea.
"Well then let's get to work."
——————————
Back with America, he had made it out onto the streets. People all around him were decked out in red, white, and blue and were conversing happily with each other. America smiled at the happiness his people radiated because he could feel it. Nations feel the emotions of their people feel if there's a high enough concentration of it. So despite his friends and family forgetting about his birthday, he was still happy.
America was pulled out of his thoughts when his phone rang. America pulled his phone out from his pocket and smiled when he saw Tyler was calling him. He hit answer then held the phone up to his ear. "Yo?" America greeted the blackette who greeted him back. "Hey Al! Happy Birthday!" America smiled brightly at his friend even though he couldn't see her at the moment. "Thanks, Ty. So you doing anything special today?" Alfred asked the human who squealed in return. "I was actually thinking that we could go out together today. Unless you have something already planned?" Tyler said trying and failing to hide the disappointment in her voice.
"Nah I don't have anything planned today. My family seemed to forget about my birthday." Alfred shrugged to himself not hearing Tyler gasp in shock. "How can you be okay with them forgetting about your birthday? I mean I wouldn't be if I was in your shoes." Tyler said bewildered about Alfred's Family forgetting about his birthday. "It happens all the time. Anyway what do you want to do?" Alfred asked wanting to avoid the subject of his family and nations all together.
"Well, we could get some coffee then watch the fireworks together?" Tyler suggested to Alfred making him smile at the thought of watching the fireworks among his people. "Yeah sure that sounds great! Where should we meet up?" Alfred asked the human girl. "How 'bout I come find you? Where are you?" Tyler asked the American man who looked around at his surroundings. Apparently he'd walked all the way to the Washington Monument.
"I'm in front of the Washington Monument." Alfred answered gaining a cheer from Tyler. "Great! I'll be there in a few minutes." Tyler said before hanging leaving Alfred to his own devices.

Canada grabbed a key from his pocket and unlocked America's front door a few nations trailing behind him as he entered the house. Well not a house per say, it was more like a mansion. The outside was full of different flowers and plants with a long walkway that lead to the entrance of the mansion.
The inside was just as beautiful as the outside. The walls had a nice shade of red wallpaper and the floor had plush carpet. The furniture also looked expensive but it looked like they hadn't been used in awhile. The walls had paintings of America's past presidents like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson though he also had pictures of the other Founding Fathers such as Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin.
Canada led them all to a room where a bunch of old party supplies laid unused. "Everyone, grab a box." Canada ordered them before grabbing one himself. The nations followed the Canadian's orders picking up as many boxes as they could carry though a few almost dropped their boxes once they felt how heavy they were.
Canada once again led everyone to a room but this time to it appeared to a dining room. Canada gestured for everyone to put their boxes on the table and to open them. They did just that and opened the boxes after placing them on the long dining table. They all opened their boxes and were a little surprised to find red, white, and blue decorations such as streamers, balloons and other party stuff.
"Why does he have all this stuff?" Israel asked Canada who was sorting through his own box but turned to speak to the Israeli Nation. "Sometimes it's just me, him, and Mexico that celebrate his birthday because everyone else forgot." Canada explained to the shorter nation gaining a few winces from the rest of America's family beside Mexico.
"Vell? Vhat do ve do vith this stuff?" Germany asked the slightly younger nation impatiently.
"Now we decorate and get a cake before he gets home."
———————————
"Alfred! Alfred!"
Alfred rose from the bench he was sitting on just in time to have a small body collide with his and small arms wrapped around him in a warm hug. Alfred chuckled when he realized it was just Tyler then proceeded to hug her back. "Happy Birthday." Tyler said breaking their embrace to grin up at the immortal Personification. "Thanks dudette." Alfred thanked the human and they were off.
Apparently there was a small, quite little café near the Washington Monument and Tyler had passed by it when she was talking to Alfred on the phone. "I hear this place has a themed coffee for the Fourth of July." Tyler told him as they entered the café together. "Oh really?" Alfred said wondering what flavor it would be. They went up to the counter and the barista greeted them with a bright smile.
"Welcome to Café De La Love! What can I get you today?" The barista greeted the human and the Personification. "We'd like two of your Fourth of July special, please." Tyler said to the barista who put their orders in the machine before the total showed up in front of them. "That'll be $4.11, please." Alfred went to take out his wallet but was stopped by Tyler who had already taken hers out. "Tyler I can't let you pay for me." America said to her but she ignored him and took out a five dollar bill from her wallet.
"You can and you will. It's your birthday, you should relax, Alfred." Tyler exclaimed looking at him with a serious expression on her face. Alfred knew how stubborn she is so he just let her pay. Tyler smirked in victory before handing the five dollars to the barista who was watching them amused. The barista told them to go take a seat and their order will be ready shortly.
Alfred and Tyler sat at a table near one of the windows near the counter and started talking. "So how old are you today, Al?" Tyler asked the American Personification who just shrugged at her question. "In human years I'm still nineteen but in nation years I'm 770 years old." Alfred answered the human who squawked at how old America really was. "Man you're old." Tyler commented causing America to give her an annoyed look. "Hey I'm one of the youngest among us. England, France, Russia, and China are much older than I am." Alfred pointed out to the human which made her look at him thoughtfully.
"So you're one of the youngest, huh?" Tyler said to him causing him to nod at her words. Before their conversation could go any further though, the barista called out their orders. "Two Fourth of July specials for Tyler and Alfred!" The barista yelled out confusing the pair as they didn't remember giving the barista their names. They went to get their coffee and sat back down at their table. The coffee was black with an American flag drawn with cream.
Tyler rose her coffee cup and smiled when Alfred did the same. "Know any good toasts?" Tyler asked Alfred. Alfred thought to himself before one toast came to mind.
"Here's to you, here's to me...best of friends we'll always be...and if by chance we disagree...then Fuck you, here's to me!" Tyler laughed and their cups clinked together as they sat happy with each other.

Canada sighed in relief as the house was finally decorated. It took a long time and there were a lot of arguments but everything turned out right in the end with the inside of the house decorated to the nines in red, white, and blue.
Poland, Italy, and France were currently making the cake so all that was left to do was sit around and wait. "How do you even know he'll come home, Canadá?" Spain asked the light blonde haired nation who just shrugged his shoulders. "He always watches the fireworks from his backyard so I assume this year is no different." Canada explained to the Spaniard who nodded at the explanation.
"I can't believe he's still so young." Prussia commented causing heads to turn in his direction. "What do you mean?" Denmark asked his fellow awesome trio member who looked at him with a surprisingly serious expression. "I mean, it feels like he's been around for so long. Can any of your remember the time before he was discovered?" Prussia's question brought silence among the nations. Honestly most of them couldn't really picture a word without America in it.
"It does seem weird. I can't really picture a world without him in it." Philippines commented gaining nods of agreement from the nations that were sitting on the couches and in the chairs. It was true, no matter how everyone denied it, America was like their sunshine without him the world would just be...dark.
"Ve~ we're-a done with the cake!" Italy called from the kitchen. Poland and France came out of the kitchen carrying a cake with the American flag on it with Italy following closer behind them. Poland and France set the cake on a nearby table and joined everyone in the sitting area with Italy doing the same.
"America should be home soon so we better get ready." Canada said getting cheers and nods from the nations of the world.
—————————
"And that's how I met England." Alfred finished as they made it up to Alfred's house. "Wow that sounds...interesting." Tyler muttered wondering if all nations were insane in some way, shape, or form. "Yeah I was also partly raised by Finland, Sweden, and France. I didn't meet Netherlands though until my first world meeting." Alfred told the human.
"You have a lot of family, Alfred. How come you never talk about them?" Tyler asked America but immediately regretted it when a sad look crossed Alfred's face. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Tyler said to him softly. "No, it's okay. The reason I don't talk about my family is because none of them are too fond of me anymore." Alfred smiled sadly at her as they reached his front door.
Alfred reached into his pocket and pulled out his house key when the door creaked open. Alfred's eyes narrowed in suspicion and he told Tyler to get behind him. Slowly, Alfred opened the door and crept inside his house readying to fight off any intruders. What he wasn't ready for however, was all the counties of the world jumping out and yelling,
"SURPRISE DUDE!"
In the best American accents they could muster up. America froze his eyes widening at the sight of what looked like a birthday party. Was it for him? "Happy Birthday, Alfred." Canada greeted him pulling the shocked American into a hug which he hesitated in returning. Once Canada let him go, America gave him a confused look. "Mattie, what're you all doing here?" Alfred asked confused on what was happening. Tyler peeked out from behind his shoulder and squeaked when she saw how countries there are.
"It's your birthday, Alfred. So we threw you a party." Canada told him but heard Tyler's squeak and looked over his brother's shoulder seeing the short black haired girl peek out from behind him. "And who's this?" Matthew asked pointing at the human girl who stepped out from behind Alfred. "This is Tyler, remember?" Alfred pointed out to Matthew. "Oh yeah. Hello." Matthew smiled at the human but was surprised when he got a glare in return.
"Hello Canada." Tyler greeted the Canadian stiffly her shoulders tensing ever so slightly but expression softened when she looked up at Alfred. "Seems like they do care a little." Tyler said smiling at the American who looked around at all the smiling faces of his friends, family, allies, and enemies alike. Tyler saw a tear drop down his face and hugged him when he started sobbing uncontrollably. Everyone was shocked that America was crying.
"Did we do something wrong?!"
"Is America okay?"
"What's happening?!"
Everyone gathered around America he sunk to the floor in a crying mess with the human girl hugging him. "You didn't do anything wrong." Tyler spoke softly gaining some countries attentions. "If anything, you did something right for a change from what I've heard. Alfred thought he was alone but you just showed him he's not." Tyler's words echoed off the walls of the house along with America's cries.
"T-Thank you guys." America said grinning brightly tears still running down his face. Everyone (yes including the nations that almost never smile) smiled at America before they all pulled him into a group hug showing America he isn't alone after all.
Tyler got caught in the middle of it and was squished between Alfred and some other nation. It stay like that for at least five minutes until France groped someone and the hug was broken. England came up to America and hug him before placing a kiss on his cheek. America blushed and looked down at the Brit before smiling.
"Happy Birthday, you stupid git." England murmured just loud enough for America to hear which he did and he pulled his big brother into a hug. "Thanks big bro." England's eyes widened at the sound of America calling him his older brother because it had been centuries since he addressed anyone by that title. And England was the first one he called big brother.
After that everyone sat down and ate cake while talking and laughing about different stuff. America was surrounded by his friends and family for the first time in centuries on his birthday and that made him so happy.
Now he wasn't alone and that was worth more than anything in the world.
