( 𝟎𝟏𝟔 ) gossiping with glenn

— THE TWO TEENAGERS HAD AN AMAZING time at the lake, and it felt like they were living a normal life once more - they weren't interrupted during their swim, and they hadn't come across one walker for the whole journey back to the farm, it was as if they weren't in a messed up world. The next couple of days were also amazing for Zoe, the farm was everything she wanted for a safe place to camp; it was incredible. Even if they weren't sleeping in the house, they all had their tents within the farm, just like it was like in Atlanta, and it was good.
Zoe was fully healing and she was feeling one-hundred times better than she had when she first left the farmhouse for the first time after she had been shot. She felt bad, as she hadn't been on a search for Sophia in a while, and she felt useless with finding the girl. Nate's opinion was that they weren't going to find the girl, but even so, he left to search the woods everyday. It made her want to go out and help out more.

She saw some of the group gathering by the truck with guns, so she was hoping that if she asked once more, her dad would let her go with them. When she approached them, Rick looked at her with a confused look plastered on his face, "What're you doing?" He asked his daughter.

Zoe shrugged, "I'm coming with." She announced. She noticed the look her father gave her when she said this, but she didn't care - she wanted to help, and he shouldn't stop her from that.

Rick sighed deeply - he would love if his daughter could leave the farm once in a while, but right now, it was just too risky. She didn't know how to use a gun, and she still wasn't back to herself after the gunshot. "Zo..." He began to say, only for Zoe to interrupt him by groaning loudly.

"You can't be serious?" She exclaimed, throwing her head back in frustration. She knew that look, and she couldn't believe that her dad was sidelining her.. She was healed, she wanted to look for Sophia. Zoe wanted to feel helpful in some way.

Nate watched the interaction with furrowed brows, he knew that Zoe was more than capable, he just couldn't say anything, as Rick was the leader, and it was his call. Maybe one day, he would take Zoe out on her own and teach her how to shoot, that's if, if she wanted.. "Deadly, Zoe." Rick replied, pulling her aside, from the rest of the group so they couldn't hear what the two were talking about. "I know you want to help, I do." He said, "But it's too dangerous right now, I need to you stay with your brother, make sure he doesn't get into any trouble." He told her.

"What's Carl going to do, dad?" Zoe scoffed, not understanding his current worry about her brother.

Rick sighed, rubbing his hands down his face, before looking back at his daughter, "He's acting strange lately." He admitted. He knew that Carl was going through puberty, and he just needed someone to look out for him. "I just need you to keep your eyes on him, please." He said.

Zoe looked at Rick and noticed the desperation on his face, he truly was worrying about Carl. She sighed, "Okay." She finally admitted, "I'll stay and look out for Carl." She said.

Rick sighed in relief, before pulling Zoe in for a tight hug, which she reluctantly accepted. "Thank you so much, Zo." He thanked, his voice mumbled as his head was placed on her head. He gave her a quick kiss on her head, before pulling away, giving her one last smile before heading back to the group in attempt to begin their search.

Zoe watched as they all dispersed, giving Nate a tight smile, before she made her way to find her mother. She heard that the girls were planning on making the Greene's dinner. This could be good for her, as it meant she could learn more about how to cook - after all, it was a good survival need to have during the end of the world. While she was looking for her mom, she found someone else instead, and she smirked slight when she noticed who he was talking to. Kicking up her speed, she slightly jogged up to the Greene's house, and found Glenn, sitting on a rocking chair, playing the guitar he had found on the highway. "So, pizza boy and the farm girl, huh?" She asked, gaining his attention from the guitar.

"Wha-What?" Glenn stuttered, placing the guitar down while shaking his head frantically. "N-No, what makes you think that?" He asked.

Zoe couldn't help but laugh at her friend, as she watched the farm girl, Maggie, walk away from the house and towards the barn. "I know that look she just gave you." She spoke. She had also noticed that Glenn had been a lot happier since they had arrived at the farm, and she couldn't help but think it might have something to do with Maggie. Personally, Zoe hadn't spoken to the girl much, unless Maggie was bringing her food while she was bed bound, but, when they did talk, Zoe liked her, and thought that she was a really nice girl.

"What look?" Glenn asked, still trying to keep up his lie. The only issue is, Zoe could see right through him - they were close, and she had noticed his behaviour the past few months.

Zoe simply shook her head at him, leaning against the porch walls, "So, when did it happen?" She asked. She knows that the two of them had sex, she just didn't know when; but she loved to gossip.

Glenn sighed, knowing that he couldn't keep up his lie much longer, even if Maggie had told him specifically not to tell anyone.. Technically, he didn't tell Zoe, she guessed it. "When we went on a supply run a few days ago." Glenn finally admitted, looking guilty as he hadn't told her. It's not like he kept it from her intentionally, it's just that he hadn't exactly seen her since she had gotten better from her gunshot wound - they used to hang out a lot when they were back at Atlanta, whereas now, they barely spoke. It's as if she spent most of her time with Carl, or Nate.

Zoe smiled at this information, and she couldn't help but jump up and down in excitement, squealing. "My pizza boy is growing up!" She exclaimed, hugging him tightly.

Glenn laughed and hugged her back, until he pulled away and gave her a knowing look, "What about you and Nate?" He asked. He knew that the two hung out a lot, but he didn't actually know what was going on between the two, and he hadn't had the chance to ask her until now. Glenn had always known that something was going on between the two of them, as she was always with him back at Atlanta; he just didn't know the extent of the two.

"What about us?" Zoe asked, instantly turning serious and stepping back. She shrugged, once she noticed that he narrowed his eyes at her, "I don't know what you're talking about." She said. The truth was, she didn't exactly know what was going on between the two of them, she just knew that they had each other, and they were having fun.

"Please." Glenn scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "I've seen the two of you, been watching you since we were camping back at Atlanta." He told her, as she slouched in defeat.

"Okay, fine." She sighed, taking the seat in the rocking chair and looking up at Glenn. "We slept together back at CDC." She admitted to him, watching as his face fell in surprise.

"No way." He laughed.

Zoe shrugged again, nodding. "He took me to the lake the other day and we.. Made out a little." She spoke, the last part quieter than the first. Zoe hadn't spoken about her and Nate out loud yet, and it felt strange to do so..

Glenn nodded, he was wondering where the two had gone off too, and now he knew. "Well, I've seen the way Nate looks at you, so.. It doesn't actually surprise me." He eventually spoke.

"Can you not, you know.. Tell my dad?" She asked him, "Or my mom.. I just, don't want them knowing anything." She said. Her mom had already guessed that she had a little crush on Nate, but she didn't know what else had happened, and Zoe intended to keep it that way.

"Of course." Glenn instantly replied - he would never betray his friend.. This was when he thought about what Maggie had told him, and his mood had instantly gone down, "Maggie told me not to tell anyone, too." He said.

Zoe looked up at Glenn with a shocked facial expression, "What?" She gasped. She had seen how Maggie looked at him before she came over, she just couldn't believe that she would want them to be a secret. "Why does she want that?" She asked.

Glenn shrugged, "Probably the same reason as you." He said. "Strict parents." He informed her.

Zoe looked over at their camp, spotting her mom, hanging up laundry, minding her own business. "Yeah. That makes sense." She sighed.

Glenn followed her eye-line and saw Lori packing up some things, "You know what, I picked something up for your mom that I gotta give to her." He spoke, not being specific on what he had brought her. "I'll talk to you later, okay?" He said, before rushing off, not giving her a chance to answer.

"Okay." She mumbled, watching him jog off with furrowed brows. Zoe watched the interaction between the two, and couldn't help but feel even more confused at the fact they were even talking; since when did they talk to each other? As she was watching the two of them talk, her father and Shane had arrived back from the search, both looking sour, as if they had an argument of some sort. Just as Glenn walked away and Lori walked up to Rick to talk to her husband, Zoe sprung up in attempt to follow Shane.

She still hadn't thanked him properly for saving her life, "Shane!" She called, trying to catch up with him. The fact that he was so tall, made it hard for her to catch up with him most of the time, she only had little legs.

He stopped once he heard her voice and spun around to face her, still heated from his talk with Rick. "What?" He snapped, causing Zoe to stumble backwards on his words in hurt. Instantly, he shook his head in disappointment that he had hurt her feelings, "I'm sorry, Zo. I'm stressed out, what do you need?" He asked, in a much softer tone this time.

"I just wanted to talk to you about you saving my life." She spoke, playing with her fingers due to anxiety. She hadn't spoken to Shane recently, and she had noticed how much he had changed, it scared her. "I never said thank you, so, thank you." She eventually spoke, finally looking up to face him.

Shane smiled at this, and couldn't help but ruffle her hair as a joke, causing the young girl to swat his hands away, laughing. "You don't have to thank me, Zo." He said, once she had stopped laughing and sorted her hair back out, "You're practically my niece, I'd do anything for you and Carl, you know that, right?" He asked.

Zoe nodded, "I know. I just wanted to tell you." She said, smiling up at him.

Shane smiled, "C'mere." He spoke, before pulling her in for a hug. He knew what he did to get the supplies to save her life, but he didn't regret it one bit, because Rick's kids are like his own, he treated them like it, and he always would. If he had to do it again, he would, without skipping a beat. He would do anything for Zoe. "I gotta go and do something, but I'll see you later?" He asked, pulling away from the hug and holding her at arms length.

"Yeah." She nodded, as he smiled and dropped his hold on her.

"Stay safe, kid." He spoke, before walking in the other direction. The second he walked away, Lori rushed up to her daughter and spun her around to face her.

"What were you two talking about?" She asked. Zoe furrowed her brows at this, it was as if she was afraid of something..

"I just thanked him for getting the recourses that saved my life." She spoke, shrugging out of her mom's hold. "Why are you acting so weird?" Zoe asked.

Lori instantly shook her head, knowing that if she told Zoe that the search for Sophia could stop, it wouldn't go well with the girl. "No reason." Was all she said, before she smiled at Zoe, "Come on, we should be getting to cooking." She said, before taking Zoe's arm and bringing her up to the house. Not before she glared at Shane, who was watching them from a distance.

Zoe didn't know what was going on, but she will find out..
