(Faceclaim: Steven Kelly - @stevenkelly on Insta)
He's 6'3
Personality: Chauncey is very, very easy to misjudge. At first he seems like a typical 'Chad,' a dudebro, an idiot. In reality, he's more like a himbo, just in disguise. Chauncey is an utter - as he would say, because yes he sometimes uses language like this - simp for a woman (and really anyone more femme presenting) who can whip him into shape. He'd let them put him on a leash and he'd bark for them if they wanted. A woman who can verbally put him in his place is exactly his type. But the thing is, Chauncey can say stupid things without really thinking about it. He doesn't mean to be ignorant or rude, and he is always actively trying to better himself, but he doesn't always hit the mark. Given his background, it makes sense, but it doesn't mean it doesn't get annoying. He gives total fratboy vibes - which makes sense, he was one - but the progress he has made if often overlooked because people still have a particular image of him in their minds. He gets very defensive and reactionary, shutting people down when he gets uncomfortable or they hit a nerve, but he's doing better now. Despite all this, Chauncey is very secure in his masculinity. People often expect him to have toxic masculinity ideals - and in his youth he certainly did - but as he's grown older and met certain people, he's truly become more grounded and rooted in who he is. He's confident in his body and his display of masculinity, without being threatened by those who society has taught him to be threatened of. Far more open-minded then people realize, his actions land him in more trouble than anything. He is definitely stereotyped, which is part of his downfall. He tries really hard, though, to let people see a different side of him, but when most meet him at a party or at the club, it can be hard to let them see that side of him. As such, he doesn't have many close friendships, because he struggles to be open and honest as a person and connect with others. He is a far more tragic figure than people realize and he just wishes people would give him a chance. He is a really genuine soul, and very sweet. Once he finds his people, he's loyal to a fault. And if a woman tells him to sit? He's sat. He's a simply guy, but good at his core.
Likes: football, friends, fun, powerful/dominant women/femmes, working out, training, running, sports, athletics
Dislikes: failing to express himself, when people don't take him seriously, his past mistakes, when he backslides, when he accidentally hurts someone, failing
Powers: shifts into a lycan (looks above); heightened speed, senses, strength, reflexes, and durability in human form
Backstory: Chauncey is a trust-fund baby, from a millionaire family. Star athlete in football, wrestling, and shotput, training from a very young age. Private school education, D1 football scholarship to one of the top universities in the country, on the way to the NFL. A rising star, all eyes on him. But below the golden boy surface, he was struggling. Parents who only paid attention to him in relation to how well he was performing in athletics, often all alone in his massive home, throwing parties and getting blackout drunk just so people would like him and be his friend. He drove himself down, both physically and mentally. He started to get better after meeting his college coach, who really took him under his wing and straightened him out. But then, in his senior year, he busted his knee and leg up bad. Torn ACL, broken femur, metal rods in his leg, a narly scar over his knee forever. It stopped his NFL plans right then and there, never to be regained. Chauncey lost it. Screaming, raging, breaking things. One day, during recovery - at-home PT - his mom came in to check on his progress. She said something along the lines of, 'well, if you'd just paid a bit more attention none of this would have happened, you know' and Chauncey took a weight ball and threw it at her. It missed, thank God, and he'd immediately broken down sobbing, curled up over himself on the ground as he rocked. That wasn't the only incident - he punched his hand through the wall and shattered it, which only added to his recovery time and process. He started lashing out, verbally and physically - though he never hit anyone directly, more so threw and broke things - after years and years of being the perfect son, the perfect athlete. His education was secondary to his sports, and now he'd lost his sports. He was nothing. That's when he phoned a friend - former teammate, really, not truly a friend - one night to jailbreak him. They flew along the backroads, high as the moon, when they got into a terrible wreck. Mind you, Chauncey's hand was still broken, his leg still far from healed, and now this. He flew through the windshield of the convertible and landed in the trees, beyond the ditch the car spun into. It took a long time for anyone to arrive on the scene, and quite frankly it was a miracle that Chauncey didn't die. One of the medics that arrived is the one who bit Chauncey - it was a last-ditch attempt to keep him alive, and it was the only thing that did. Chauncey was in the hospital for a long time after that, healing and getting stronger. It's like the accident was the jumpstart his bodied needed to heal, the doctors said, for Chauncey was healing a bit quicker than they were expecting. When he was released, that medic reached out to him, and they sat down to talk. Chauncey thanked her for saving his life, and that's when he was told the truth of what he was. He didn't believe it at first, but after she convinced to go around the back and she shifted, he did. He also learned that she was part of a pack, one full of different species, one that she thought he might like. That was Sanctum. He was invited in as a guest, and he started returning to them regularly, until he applied to become an official member. That happened two years ago. Now, Sanctum is where Chauncey lives. He goes back to visit his parents very tensely every so often, but he mostly remains in the walls of Sanctum where he isn't Chauncey Scarston, the Fallen Star, but rather just Chauncey Scarston, one of many. He has a lot to work through, but since joining Sanctum he has truly started to unravel the toxicity in life. Here in Sanctum is where he stopped lying to himself about his sexuality. Here in Sanctum is where he started learning how to detox from toxic masculinity. Here in Sanctum is where he learned how to be more open-minded and free, more accepting and loving. He's finding himself in Sanctum, and he never wants to leave.
Other: Chauncey is a family name
He still has the ACL scar on his knee, the scar from the femur surgery, scars on his right hand from when he shattered it, and scars dotted throughout his body from the car wreck
He doesn't talk about his past a lot - he should definitely be in therapy, but he's working through it; maybe not in the healthiest ways, but he's still in the coping phase
He loves sports, but football is actually his most-hated sport; out of those he participated in, wrestling was actually his favorite, then shotput, though his favorites to watch are basketball and motorsports
He's originally from Beverly Hills, California
Seriously, if a femme-presenting person with a strong, big personality told him to shut up, he would immediately, no questions asked; the right person could have absolute power of this man, they just need to wield it as they please
His type is femme people - women or otherwise - but they don't have to be hyper-femme, all pink, all dresses; he is just as likely to fall for a femme goth person as he is to a femme bubblegum pink person; it's more energy/presentation that he's attracted to over aesthetic though women are still his preference
Sometimes his anger still gets the best of him and he explodes - he'll yell at people who don't deserve it, or punch holes in his room walls, or break things; he always feels guilty and if anyone gets hurt in the process he will forever try to make it up to them
With his lycan, it can sometimes be harder to control his anger than he wants it to be; his lycan is prone to taking control in those fits of rage, in which case the rage and expression of it becomes more primal and violent
