The Elite Unit - often just called the Elites - are a group of 20 wolves from the ages of 18-35, led by Commander Jillian Musso.

The Elites have been a Unit for generations in the Redwood Pack - known, respected, and feared by all, even beyond their territory. Only an Alpha can appoint a Commander, which can be a wolf of any age, even if the Elites themselves can only be in the range of 18-35. Once an Elite hits 35, they are released from service with a big send-off and celebration, and a new wolf is chosen to take their place.

Wolves are chosen and hand-picked by Jillian to be in this Unit. At this point, every Elite in the Unit has been hand-picked by Jillian - there are no Elites left over from the former Commander, they've all aged out, left, or were kicked out.

At this point, the Elites are more glorified bodyguards and border patrol than anything - the Redwood's are at peace with the territories around them. Despite this, a few years ago there was a massive fight along the northern border with a neighboring pack in which Jillian Musso was severely injured - though all that remains of that battle is a brutal, jagged, aggressive scar on her right thigh, seemingly made by a serrated weapon. However, they are now at peace with that pack.
