Personality: Joseph is a fun-loving, relaxed, chill guy. Quick to smile and quick to laugh, he always seems like he is having a good time. He has a certain way about him that puts people at ease - some just want to crack open a beer with him and have a deep chat, others want his shoulder to cry on, others want to fight him to get their frustrations out. Whatever people need, he gives it to them. Careful not to cross boundaries that will set people back, he believes in connecting with those around him so that the best community of help and love and encouragement can be formed. He is the kind of person who falls in love with life, with the world, and maybe a little bit with all his friends. He is so full of love to give and share and hold, that it is hard to fight against him for too long. Patient and ready for anything that is thrown his way, he's hard to knock down and knock off-kilter. He takes what he must without complaint and all with a smile on his face. Don't get him wrong, though. He knows when to be tough and firm and he will call people out on their bullshit. He doesn't stand for the hurting of others - emotionally or physically - to avoid dealing with your own problems. He can be the punching bag, but no one else - that's his mentality. Why? Because he knows he can take it. Though he does have his own struggles, he is sound of mind and spirit, and he is far stronger than people had ever given him credit for. Because he loves deeply, he gets very connected to people, and becomes very sentimental. Even if he never crosses over into the bounds of friendship, or further, whenever he sees someone he had any sort of connection with, he smiles and asks how they are. He feels a deep pride for his patients and the people he has helped get better, and he feels a deep connection with them no matter how far in the world they may wander. Easy-going and relaxed, there is more lurking under the surface than people realize. He is so good because of all that he went through - it's why he knows he can handle whatever is thrown his way. He goes out of his way to lift spirits and to help, and he loves that he can do that for others.
Likes: fun, relaxing, joy, helping others, when people start to recover and make progress, love, people, companions, connection (spiritual, emotional, physical)
Dislikes: abuse, hurting others to avoid your own issues, seeing others stuck in pain and memories and being unable to help, utter seclusion
Powers: shifts into a wolf (looks above); heightened speed, senses, reflexes, durability, and strength
Backstory: Joseph comes from a pack - the Crimson River pack, to be exact. He was an Omega there - rare, given the careful breeding of powerful bloodlines the pack has been known for, but alas he was born nonetheless. He faced a lot of abuse at the hands of his father, more than anyone else, as punishment for coming out so weak and pathetic, and for dropping the family status in the eyes of the pack. When his brother was born, healthy and strong and powerful, the abuse only got worse. When he was 7, his dad blinded him in his left eye by hitting him so hard in the side of his head that it caused permanent damage. As his brother - who is five years younger than him - grew, abuse came from him, too, encouraged by their father. His mother tried to stop it when she could, tried to shelter him, but she was too afraid of her mate to do much, though a hand was never laid on her. That was, until Joseph was 17. He was beaten particularly hard when he got home, as news had reached his father that he'd upset Kent von Weissen by disobeying his orders. Joseph already had a broken nose, curtesty of Kent, but his father just added onto it, so much so it seemed he wouldn't stop. By now, Joseph had two more siblings, totaling at 4, and they watched in the door way, the two youngest terrified and crying, while his brother laughed. His mother came home from a friend's house to see the pool of blood, and the broken body of her son, and she cried out for her mate to stop, running up to him and pulling his arm back as he reared it to punch again. Instead, he shoved Joseph's mom back so hard she fell on one of their dining room chairs and broke it. Her cry of pain - and the fact she was pregnant - stirred Jospeh to his feet despite the intense pain radiating throughout his whole body. In his father's moment of distraction, he grabbed a knife off the counter. He gestured to his little sister's to turn around and close their ears, and they did. His brother noticed what was happening too late, calling a warning out to their father, who turned in time for Joseph to stab the knife into his throat. He did so with a blank face, his father clinging to him as he fell slowly to the ground, eyes wide, blood gurgling from his lips and the wound in his neck. Joseph watched him, letting go of him, his father hitting the ground with a thud. It was a slow death, and Joseph collapsed to the floor moments after his father did, his breath ragged as the pain came back and hit him again, full force. He watched his father as everyone stood there in shock - his mother slowly getting to her feet to go to his sisters and he and his brother staring at their father as he clawed at his throat, bleeding out, his puddle of blood mixing into Joseph's. He watched the light fade from his father's eyes, then he too fell into blackness. When he woke up, he was moving. In the back of a van, laid out on the seats, his head was in his mother's lap. A stranger was driving the van - a stranger to him, anyways - and he saw his sisters sleeping in car seats in the row of seats behind them. His body was in so much pain still, and he could hardly move without pain lancing through him. When his mother noticed he was awake, she cried, and told him in hushed tones that they were going somehwere safe, somewhere that no one would find them, and then she kept apologizing for not getting out sooner, for not protecting him sooner. He drifted off again, and he was hardly awake at all during their travels, hardly remembering them. His most vivid memory after killing his father was waking up in a stone structure, cool despite the heat of the desert. His body was laid out on a soft cot, bandaged beyond belief, while a man administered cooling packs to different parts of his body. It didn't take long for him to learn where he was - The Brotherhood, with broken bones in nearly every part of his body. Though he healed, he never did fully - he still feels pain in his femur, shoulder, ribs, ankle, and knee on harder days, and walks with a permanent walk, which varies in severity depending on how his body is doing. His nose, too, is slightly crooked from that beating and many of the ones that came before it. He was months past his 18th birthday when he was finally healed enough to leave the sector of The Brotherhood on a permanent release if he wished to, and he did, joining his family in The Neighborhood. But he kept drifting back to The Brotherhood, and joined their ranks when he was 20. Though he does not wear their traditional attire, and never will unless he has to for ceremonies or rituals, he is well-loved by his cohort. Named heir two years ago, it is a title he wears with pride, and hopes to do best by his brothers.
Other: Joseph's brother, Saul (25), is still in Crimson River
He has two younger sisters - Ruth (21) and Rebekah (19) - and a youngest brother, Samson (12)
Joseph does everything he can to shield his siblings from how bad life truly was, and makes sure that Samson never has to experience what they did
His family still live in The Neighborhood
He is not a traditional member of The Brotherhood, often leaving the sector to go visit family and friends. He isn't as sequestered into The Brotherhood as many are, and he is a known face amongst the whole of The Hood, not just his sector
He isn't very religious in knowledge, but rather in spirituality, but his specialty is healing and therapy
He does work out, but he's not fit for fighting
He wears an eye patch, but also likes to put fun prosthetics in his eye - sometimes it's just a normal eye in appearance, other times it's all black in appearance, other times full of smiley faces
He also travels outside The Hood, which is rare for anyone to do, but he does so at least a couple times a year, either to pick people up the way he and his family were picked up, or to simply to explore other packs, places, and people; he's been to Sanctum on many occasions, but also Wise Oak, to The Blind Priestess, Windmeer, and various camps of The Folk
He has reached out to Saul quite a few times, but never gets a response
Crimson River technically has a warrant out for his arrest, but no one actually actively hunts him down
He is not afraid to flirt if he finds someone attractive, and he's is far less chaste than many in The Brotherhood
