Personality: Gully is a very persuasive speaker. Well-spoken, yet empathetic, firm yet endearing, and incredibly well-educated. He knows what he's talking about and he never enters a debate or conversation which he isn't immensely prepared for. A powerful speaker, when people hear his speeches, it's hard not to support him and his ideals. Able to make even the worst ideas seem good, Gully is also very confident and good at dressing things up to appear better than they are. A speaker on behalf of the largest population in The Occult pack, they've garnered a lot of support, but also enemies. A firm believer in their own morality, politics, and ideals, Gully is not someone who can be shaken off their foundation. Quiet when they have nothing to say, Gully is still an extremely smooth and kind person. Though, yes, some actions are driven by a need to garner more support, Gully does have a genuinely kind soul and a desire to help those who need it. However, they are willing to make extreme sacrifices to met their end goals, and have been branded a 'radical' by both their supporters and enemies alike. He doesn't care, though. The ends always justify the means, in his mind. Though he seems like such an upstanding citizen on the surface, behind the scenes he's just as ruthless, cutthroat, and dangerous as any politician. With supporters from all walks of life, and connection extending beyond their city borders, Gully truly isn't someone you want to get on the wrong side of. Determined to help their people and get what they want, nothing will ever stand in his way. Not family, not friends, no one. Gully's personal life is actually well hidden and privatized. Though he seems deeply connected to his supporters, living under an 'I'm an open book' sort of vibe, he only reveals what he wants to reveal. Even then, some of what he reveals is a lie - a small one, but still - with his actual private life wrapped up and neat. Only some things are known outside his control, but otherwise what everyone knows about him he revealed or strategically leaked. An incredible strategist, don't let Gully's 'I'm not like other politicians' vibe fool you - he is and perhaps so much worse.

Backstory: Gully is the illegitimate child of the Werebear Council Leader, Jedidiah Smith. His mother was - a human member of The Occult - paid to keep quiet. Needing money, she accepted the hush money and the yearly payments that continued, up through Gully's 18th birthday. It was a well-kept secret in the majority of the public domain, though an open-secret for those involved in the pack politics and political families. As such, this created an odd dynamic for Gully growing up. They'd always been able to tell who knew the truth and who didn't, and that holds true to the current day. Growing up aware of your father, but that man refusing to acknowledge you as theirs, is a terrible, awful experience. One that Gully used to fuel their ambitions and make them stronger. Harboring a deep hatred and resentment for their father, Gully is nothing but civil in the public eye. Officially registered as a Hybrid with an Affiliation to Humans - or HAH - he did so, so that his father no longer held any control over them, and to honor the mother that wore herself ragged to take care of him. However, ever since they were young, Gully has hated the idea that hybrids have no legal seat on The Council. Though hybrids are treated as equals - mostly - they still have no legal representation. They must deny part of themselves in order to be a recognized member of the pack. So, Gully went to school for Politics, and when he returned after graduation, his agenda to get a Hybrid Council Seat kicked into high gear. 7 years after the initial launch of his campaign, Gully has garnered the support of Hybrids and Full-Bloods alike. Enough that you'd think they'd be able to get the vote passed, right? Wrong - their father continually blocks their efforts. Despite heading up the smallest faction, Jedidiah Smith is a well-loved and well-respected man. Gully knows so much about their father - things that would destroy him - but has yet to reveal them so as to not harm the innocent women, children, and men that such exposure would bring. It's a line that Gully gets closer to crossing every day, though, even if it means putting his own mother in the cross-fire. Holding bi-weekly meetings, Gully listens to what his supporters want, and works towards finding solutions and compromises. The Hybrid Seat not being his only goal, it is the main one, and often overshadows his other desires and wishes. Things that can't happen if that Seat isn't secured. Getting more likely to drop some ugly truths every day, Gully has to weigh whether his conscience could survive such a thing. Still working towards his goals, Gully will get them accomplished, one way or another.

Other: So yes, Gully is genderfluid, though the form holds no use of she/her pronouns, so here's a further explanation: Gully resonates most with he/him pronouns, then they/them. Unlike Ebony, for example, not all pronouns fly with him all the time, though he/they is always okay to use. Gully typically wears a pin with his preferred pronouns of the day. Some days, though, Gully is a woman and will not accept anything other than she/her pronouns. It's a very complex relationship with their gender, one that still confuses even them at times, but one they've learned to navigate
