Personality: Barley is a very intelligent, kind woman with a fierce streak. The Alpha of Zion Rock - a recent promotion - she will do anything for her pack and the people she loves. An environmental lawyer - following in her father's footsteps - she has a strong, admirable ability to hold her ground. She is a rock that will not budge. Some may call it stubborn, she calls it determined. When it comes to what she believes in, she won't budge from her stance, and depending on who she is talking with, she will either be open to discussion or shut them down immediately. She takes shit from no one, regardless of the circumstance, and she will always make sure her voice is heard. Mess with Barley, then find out you messed with the wrong person. Outside her fierce, confident side she is also very kind and compassionate. Barley has a big heart and constantly tries to take on the burdens of others so that their own hearts may be lighter. To see people she cares about struggling is to be hurt herself. It's, in part, what makes her such a good Alpha - patient and empathetic, she listens to her people and does her best to find the solution or compromise so that situations can get better. It's also what makes her such a great friend and ally - if you are struggling, whether in a big or small way, Barley is there with gentle reassurance and advice, ready to support. With a great memory and the ability to hold life-long grudges, to go up against Barley is to come up against a worthy, difficult opponent. Backstory: Barley always knew she would be a lawyer, and starting around age 14, she knew she would be Alpha. Always a studious young girl, and then young woman, she wasn't always the most sociable or outgoing individual. She liked her small group of friends, and she loved her pack, but she always struggled to genuinely connect with them. She found her way to do by dedicating her life to protecting them, supporting them, and loving them. She studied under her father for her whole life, getting the same homeschooling the majority of her other packmates got, while also getting the private education her father could provide. Barley thrived, proving to be an advanced, dedicated student. Similarly her brother Bass, she went to university for Environmental Conservation, before heading into law school. Interning with some of the top environmental firms in the country - including the Zion Rock Conservation Firm - she furthered her education, passing the bar exam at 25 years of age. In the court room, Barley came to life. She's only lost a small percentage of her cases, and has always been incredibly thorough, earning a name for herself in her field. She has taken on politicians, big oil companies, even states - she was even the junior lawyer in a case brought against the United States of America, which was taken to the Supreme Court. She's a superstar in her field. However, a few short months ago, she was unexpectedly named Alpha - earlier than anyone had projected. Her father was diagnosed with early on-set dementia, so Barley was risen to Alpha in his stead. Juggling her career and being Alpha is still a curve she is adjusting to, but she is adamant about being great for all of them. Now working full-time in the Zion Rock Conservation Firm, she has also taken over her father's partner position within the firm. A young woman juggling a lot of responsibilities, she is always able to let loose and relax when she's alone with her siblings and most trusted friends. Incredibly close to her family, she does what she does for them above all else.
