Personality: Buddy is a fairly buoyant guy. Optimistic and cheerful, kind of always floating on Cloud 9. He's charming, though not in the way of flirtation. He just is charming, with an energy and buoyancy that keeps people interested, at ease, and occupied. He knows everyone by their first name, checks in on those he runs into, and knows about their lives. Yet, so few people know about his life. He moves about the world in such a way that people feel as if they truly know him. Like he is everyone's best friend. But really, he is more superficial when talking to others, though not in any attempt to be rude. He is simply protective of himself and his heart. He really does care for people and he really does care when he asks how people are, when he checks in on them, when he helps them. But his issue is that he cares a bit too much. So, to keep himself from jumping all the way into something, he shields his heart. If people don't really know him, then he won't lose himself. The son of an Alpha, he will one day make a great one, should he choose to accept. He cares. But he also has commitment issues. He is a loving guy who just wants everyone and everything to be okay. Not much of a fighter, he is a good mediator, and he can fight physically, he just doesn't like to. He has a way about him that can be rather disarming. People want to trust him because he seems trustworthy. He is, for the most part, but he isn't above using the information if he feels he has to. He is open and kind and warm, but he has a hard streak about him that very few get to see or know about. When it comes down to it, Buddy is a mystery, only he's a mystery people are unaware exists.

Backstory: Buddy is the son of the Alpha of the Wise Oak pack, Hannigan O'Reilly. That makes him the cousin of Porter Trenton Base, through Porter's mother. Much like Porter, he is unaware that Porter is adopted. Beyond that, he has always _hated_ the name Hannigan. Hated being called it and refused to answer to it. The family nickname of calling him 'bud' or 'buddy' soon morphed into his actual name, outside of family circles. Soon Buddy eclipsed Junior as the name that the pack knew him by, though he still gets called Junior, which he doesn't mind. Despite hating the name of himself and his father, he and his father have a very close relationship. They are cut from the same cloth, very familiar in personality. Only his father is more genuinely open, less of a mystery. His father runs the pack like a small neighborhood, where everyone knows everyone's business. That's how it has been for generations, though. Buddy knows he will likely be passed his father's title, but thankfully the pack has a tradition of being able to abdicate and pass the title to someone else. It is an option Buddy is seriously considering. He loves his family and he loves his pack, but he just isn't sure if he can do it. If he can be on this pedestal, so far removed yet in the spotlight. It seems a lonely life, and it seems an overwhelming one. He already gets enough attention belonging to a small pack and he gets even more being the Alpha's son. He does well under the spotlight, but that doens't mean he likes it. Part of him wants to move out into the un-populated area of the pack, into the vast trees that are used as a natural protection on all sides. He can still be part of the pack, but that way he can also have his privacy. He used to disappear into the libraries for days on end without being spotted, just for the reprieve. When he was little, he used to follow Porter around like a lost puppy. He thought his cousin was so cool. Even to this day, he has a deep respect and admiration for his cousin, even though they aren't necessarily all that close. But as much as he loves his pack, he does feel trapped by it sometimes. Such a small population in such a large territory, a territory that only has about 30% of it developed for housing and the libraries, it's a lot. It feels like a woodsy prison cell with lots of space. Still, he isn't sure where he would even go if he were to leave. So he remains restless in place, torn between his duty and his love for his pack and family, and his desire to go elsewhere.

He and Porter were very close as children but grew apart as they got older, in part because Porter is 7 years older, but also just because Porter is who he is. Sometimes they have moments where they seem close again. Buddy just really wants Porter to be his cousin and his friend. They would get along far better than Porter realizes, they have more in common than either realize.
He wants to travel the world, or at least go to Ireland, where his family is from - his mother herself is directly from Ireland
