~ Borah Tribe ~
this page will act as a divider and information page for the Borah Tribe of Brokenridge
The Borah Tribe is located in Idaho, in the Borah Peak mountain (also know as Mount Borah or Beauty Peak), which is located in the central section of the Lost River Range, within the Challis National Forest. Located in a tectonically active area, earthquakes are familiar territory for these wolves, and something they prepare for.
Much like the other Brokenridge wolves, they are a religious pack. Believing in The Goddess - though they call her Mother Moon more often than not - as well as The Triplets (Hunterra, Galenva, and Stonra), they also believe in The Prince of the Bears, also called the Wolf Guardian (the creation of Saytrn03 , check out their Lore Book on their account for more info!) They also happen to believe in (and have definitive proof) the existence of werebears. They believe werebears to be sacred protectors of wolf packs and tribes, and to children of the Moon Mother, just as lycans and werewolves are. Though the last recorded werebear in Borah history was 92 years ago, and he was a beloved member of their tribe, mated to their Chieftain, though no children came from the union.
Interesting and famous for two rarities, Borah sees no oddity in their ways. Borah pack members - some, not all - are bonded to an actual wolf. Bonded, in the sense that they have an almost spiritual bond with this wolf, who is adopted into their pack and named - believed to be named by the Goddess. Though the Bonded, as they are called, grow rarer with each generation, quite a few still exist in the pack, including Chieftain Hava Garland, their Chieftain. The Bonded and their wolf partners are more like family than anything - siblings, parent/child type bonds, depending on when those bonds were formed. Bonded are believed to be blessed, chosen by the Goddess to convene with their distant kin, uniting the wolves and the werewolves in some form. Just as close to humans as they are to wolves, the Borah Tribe believe that werewolves, in general, are far too dismissive of their wolf brethren. Bonded wolves - as in the actual wolf - live the same lifespan as their bonded werewolf, in the sense that they grow as their bonded pair grows IF they are found together, as children. Some Bonded pairs are an adult werewolf and a pup, or a young werewolf and an adult wolf, or any sort of combination. But, regardless, the wolf will have the same lifespan as a werewolf, rather than a wolf. When one of the pair dies, the other usually dies are heartbreak, though some stay alive.
The Borah tribe also take in foundlings, Chieftain Hava Garland also being one in addition to being Bonded. Foundlings are exactly as they sound - they are found, orphaned werewolves, wolves, humans, werebears if it happens, and any other living creature that is found and in need of care, that a Borah werewolf feels strongly must not die. Foundlings then become children, or animal companions, raised in the Tribe. Because of this, Borah is considered to be one of the largest tribes, though not all their members are werewolves - though most are. Though not all foundlings remain - some are just there for rehabilitation and then are released back to the wild and their original homes, though they are still called foundlings.
Borah tribe members, out of nearly every tribe, are more likely to creep outside their assigned tribe territory. Not quite moving into the human areas, they stick to the woods and their surrounding areas, which is how so many foundlings are typically found. Famous in their history for encroaching on other territories, they have lost that habit as the years progress. Wars were and are famous in their tribe - the history of them, at least. Borah is among the leading War Tribes in the Brokenridge Pack. Having the most 'Berserker' fighters, even in modern times, their animal companions also fight alongside them, but especially so do the Bonded. The Bonded are specifically gifted in fighting, the agility and natural grace of werewolves and wolves interchanging between the werewolf and their bonded wolf. Strong fighters, if a Berserker is a Bonded, their wolf carries those Berserker traits when fighting, as well. In addition to the Moon Mother, the Triplets, and the Prince of Bears, they also believe in Egill - whose name has changed over the years, though some are lost to time, his name means "terror" or "awe." He is the deity associated with Berserkers.
Egill - The Son of the Moon Mother, he is a 'darker' deity, some may say. Really, he is the war deity of Borah (and some other tribes), and he blessed the Berserkers with their fighting spirits and abilities. The Original Berserker, though that wasn't what he was called, his first name was, when translated, Terrung, though that name is hardly used anymore, though still known. Egill, despite his many changes and evolutions, remains the same at his core - he is the deity of war, terror, and destruction.
Unlike the Hesperus Tribe, Borah doesn't have Titled Roles (Windreader, Starfinder, Boneshaker, and Moonbreacher) outside Chieftain except for one. Their Moonbreacher, their General, is titled Terru, in honor of Egill's original name. Though they do not have these titled roles, they are no less religious, and there is still a certain hierarchy.
- Chieftain
- Terru
- Bonded
- Tribe Members
- Foundlings (though, not to say, foundlings are mistreated or truly considered lesser than, but some hold antiquated feelings on foundlings)
