Chapter 3

Naruto left Kiba's compound to his practice area, carrying Lem in the so-called "baby backpack" as he calls in. Lem chirped in Naruto's ear as he passes through a crowd of people who stared at them in awe and surprise, mostly in shock.

"Excuse me!" Naruto shouted as people moved away, parting like the red sea for the yellow blob in an orange jumpsuit.

He passes through the town and entered the training grounds.

"Naruto!" The pink banshee all but screeches at Naruto the moment she spotted him.

He stopped a few feet away from Sakura when Lem chirped.

"What was that?" She asked him suspiciously.

"It's the otter from two weeks ago." He told her truthfully.

Sasuke came out of the bushes. Apparently, he was busy training.

"Don't tell me you're bringing her on the missions?" He asked rather rudely as if he was saying that he didn't want another hindrance in the team.

"Of course I am!" Naruto glared at Sasuke, feeling the need to defend his precious otter.

"She's going to be my ninja otter!" Naruto stated proudly, shoving a thumb into his chest.

Lem chirped again, climbing out of the back and lying on his shoulders.

"Aw! He's so adorable!" Sakura squealed at Lem's cuteness.

"That's a She, Sakura. Not a 'He." The Uzumaki corrected her.

Even if it was possible, Sakura squealed louder. She zoomed to Naruto to get a better look at the otter while Sasuke stood there, observing the otter with bitter eyes. The Uchiha scoffs, looking away.

"What's her name?" Sakura asked.

Naruto hit his other hand with a thump. "Ah! I knew I forgot something." He shouted rather loudly.

Lem slapped his cheek with her paw for being so loud. Naruto rubbed the sore spot.

"So you forgot to name her?" Sakura put her hands on her hips in a disapproving manner.

"Yep..." He admitted half-heartily.

"Just call it Dobe #2," Sasuke suggested. Lem glared at him, he glared right back as soon as he felt someone glare at him.

"Shut up, stupid."

"Make me."

"..."

"..."

"Ah, she talked!" Sakura shouted fearfully.

"Don't animals usually talk, idiot?" Lem shot at Sakura who's heart shattered.

"Not usually... unless you're a summon." Sakura pointed out.

"Hmmm," Lem thought for a moment, "Good point, kid." The otter said blandly.

Naruto was just shocked but it quickly changed to happiness. He grabbed the light brown otter off his shoulder, lifting her up in the sky like he found something precious. His eyes twinkled.

"You can talk! What's your name? Should I give you a name??" He shot out question after question.

"No, I already have a name and course I can talk." She rejected his offer to give her name. Naruto sighed dejectedly. Lem felt bad.

"Alright, you can give me a name..." said Lem in a soft embarrassed manner.

"Alright! I'm going to call you Ami!" Lem was feeling cold, she wiggled out of his arms that was cradling her like a baby and she snuck into the warmth of his jacket.

"I like the name." her head popped out to announce her answer.

"Alright, dattebayo!" he cheered happily. Lem heard something else, she crawled up Naruto bit to look for the set of footfalls.

"Sorry, I'm late. A cat cross- is that an otter?" Kakashi cut himself with a question.

Naruto turned around. "Yeah, this is Ami! She can talk. She's the baby otter we found!" He said enthusiastically.

"She shouldn't look that big yet," Kakashi said with narrowed eyes.

"Shut up, loser." Sasuke lost it at the now pronounced 'Ami's comment.

Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi were surprised.

"She's got a point, Kakashi-sensei," Sasuke smirked.

"Oh, really?" he mumbled.

"Naruto, train your otter not to insult others based on their appearances," Kakashi ordered.

Lem glared blandly at the Hatake. "Why don't you train yourself to read fewer porn books," Lem suggested rather sarcastically.

Kakashi's eye widened, "How-to-?" he then looked at his hand, embarrassment floated up in his face as he hurried to hide his book.

Naruto looked confused while Sakura blushed. Sasuke and Lem sent Kakashi a smirk.

"I take back what I said about your otter, Naruto." Naruto turned around to see the Uchiha smirking.

"She can be pretty useful." He admitted.

"Of course, she's useful. She'll be more than that when I train her!" Sakura and Sasuke deadpanned.

"If you remember to train her, that is..." He trailed off.

The mission they went to was very simple. Babysitting. But of course, Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura found it difficult. They all glared at the otter who was putting a baby to sleep successfully.

"How is it that a two-week and half baby otter can take care of a baby while we can't?"

A baby block was thrown at Sasuke's head.

"Maybe because you guys have no experience with babies considering you're all babies yourselves..." Lem shrugged, playing with a random baby.

Naruto anime cried, Sakura felt offended while Sasuke grew a tick mark.

"And what does that make you?" He hissed.
"Forever a teenager. When otter enters a two-week and half stage. We're practically teens." She started with a small lie before adding, "Oh, and I'm not a normal otter or a summon either. I'm one of those genetically engineered otters, which means that I'm bigger than an average otter." Ami said in a smart way, but she was just winging it because she doesn't know what Avarus is.

"Oh~" The three chorused rather harmonically.

The rest of the missions were very easy for Ami. A sense of jealousy was clouded over the three as they watch Kakashi fed Ami with a bottle.

"You are such a good girl, Ami~ yes, you are, you are~" He cooed at Ami who gave him blank stares as usual.

Something hits Naruto. "Ya'know. Ami doesn't show much emotion..." He stated Sasuke nodded along with Sakura.

"You may be right, Naruto," Kakashi said as he watched Ami drink the whole bottle. She began to purr when Kakashi moved her then begun petting her back. .

"We'll go to Inochi's the first thing in the morning" Ami flinched looking up at Kakashi with feared eyes.

"What are you looking at me like that for?" He questioned the young brown otter. She shook her head, going back to her expressionless face. Kakashi had to admit that was rather strange. She had flinched the moment he mentioned Inochi and not to mention that she's only two-weeks and a half old. No one can obtain that information without going anywhere, especially at a young age.

"Hey, sensei? Can I have Ami back now?" Kakashi nodded, carefully handing Ami back to Naruto. Ami sighed contently and snuggled inside his jacket.

"She really likes being in there, Naruto," Sakura stated as a matter of fact to which the Uzumaki nodded. Sasuke couldn't help but stare at the otter. Something doesn't add up.

During earlier, while they were watching dogs, Kakashi had Ami. She left his side to climb higher on the tree. Ami found a raven perched on a branch. Her swamp-hazel eyes stared at the raven's eyes.

"Weasel." Ami unintentionally spoke her mind without meaning to.

The crow flapped his wings with a warning, scooting closer to the otter.
The young otter was startled, "What did I do?" She asked herself confusingly, tilting her head.

The bird's eyes were beginning to glow red, panic swarmed in Ami's heart as she turned her tail, jumping back into Kakashi's arms breathing too fast apparently.

The crow cawed flapping his wings, leaving the arena. "Don't be scared, Ami. It's okay," Kakashi soothes her, "It's just a crow, it won't harm you." Ami glared at him, of course, crows can harm you with their beaks! she yelled internally. Once the mission was over, she was handed to Sasuke since Naruto went to the bathroom and Sakura was busy buying lunch for herself.

"Stupid weasel..." Ami murmured and shivered.

"Weasel? There wasn't a weasel in the tree. Kakashi said that you got spooked by a crow." He corrected her, or so he thought he did.

"Ah, the crow told me his name before he tried to peck me!" She quickly thought of a made-up story which sucked in her opinion.

"Hn," said Sasuke. he didn't seem to believe her.

"Okay, I lied..." She admits blandly.

He remembered his brother's name, glaring at trees.

"I would appreciate it if you didn't glare at the trees. They did nothing to you." She demanded. Sasuke glared at her then softened because Ami stared blankly at him. Unlike other animals, she shows the least emotion. Before Sasuke could open his mouth, Sakura shoved a small into fish into Ami's mouth which she immediately spits out. Sakura gaspsed at the young otters actions.

"But what will you eat?!"

Kakashi came in the nick of time from wherever the lazy idiot came from.

"She can't eat solid food yet, Sakura. She's only two-weeks." He showed a baby bottle in his bags.

"You went to Hana-san?" Kakashi nodded at Sakura's answer.

Why would Ami lie? That's actually the first time she lied. Sasuke was determined to find out what's the true reason for her lie. The Uchiha's coal eyes watch Naruto's back as it got further and further away before he, himself turned his direction to home.
