Chapter 14
It took a day and half to finally reach Abaddon. The companions ran their horses, and pony, all the way to the elven city with very short breaks. By the time they were at the tree palace's stables, the horses, and pony, were winded and tried. They were breathing heavily, spit coming out their mouths and eyes wide. An elf running the stables took the horses and the pony to get rest, food, and water. Wasting no time when they arrived, Karma, Jason, Mika, and Dagner ran over to the infirmary where they met with the village healer.
The healer was at first alarmed to see two humans, an elf, and a dwarf run over to her as such an impeccable speed. When Karma made it to the healer, she produced the jar from her satchel and gave it to the elf. "Here," Karma said. "This is the antidote for this sickness. I'm hoping it is enough for the entire clan." The healer stared dumbfounded at the liquid in the jar.
"Is this what I think it is?" The old healer asked.
"Yes," said Mika. "It is the water from a nymph. It took some trouble to get it, but yes. Do you think it will be enough?" The healer looked at Karma, to the jar, then at Mika and the others. She nodded her head slowly.
"I wouldn't need a lot to make the antidote with this, so yes, I do believe this will cover up the whole clan." The healer then smiled at Karma and her friends. "Thank you. Now we have hope."
----
Word spread fast. Any healer or any elf capable and well enough to make the journey came to Abaddon to get their fair share of the nymph water. Each village was given just enough water to help their village, which every elf was thankful for. Once the healers got their antidote, there was no time wasted as they went back to their own village and started making healing brews for the sick.
Those who had the illness the worse was tended to first. Then it all played out from there. Little by little those who were sick started having symptoms of getting better. And each village celebrated. Cheering, shouting, hugging, laughing, and most of all crying because their loved ones were getting better. But for those who did not make it where mourned and remembered.
After the sharing of the water, there was only a quarter left in the jar, not enough to heal the whole clan if the disease were to ever occur again. During the time of the healing, Karma and her friends told their story of the gnome, Eon, who discovered the cause of the disease, which was the mint leaves. After hearing this, each healer took what was left of the water and sprayed it over every mint leaf patches that were frequently used by healers all over the Elf Clan. Pretty soon, it seemed liked the disease was all but a bad dream

Karma sat on her bed in her room of the palace. The last couple days had been a crazy one. Making sure that each village got the antidote and that each patch of mint leaves was decontaminated. It was a lot of work, especially seeing if the antidote even worked. Which it did. Slowly Karma has seen elves of all ages get better. She was told even Omar was getting better, but he was still asleep. When he would wake up, no one knew for sure. All she knew is that he wasn't going to die. Not today, not ever. That, at least, comforted her.
Taking out her book, Karma took the key from around her neck and unlocked it. She flipped through the pages mindlessly, not really having any purpose to do anything with the book. She often sat there questioning it. Why the headaches? Why the never-ending pages? And mostly, why her? Why choose her to make a world like this one, to only have it to start crumbling underneath her feet? Why? She growled with frustration as these questions filled her head.
She leaned back on her pillows, staring up at the wooden ceiling. Flicking her eyes over next to her, Karma saw Shari curled up peacefully sleeping on the pillow. As she stared at the ferret, something clicked her in her mind. Something that she should've noticed a long time ago. Sitting up on the bed, Karma reflipped through the pages of her creations: saber-tooth wolf, horses, trolls, gnomes, long-tailed foxes, ryder-wolves, invisocat... the list went on, but no matter what creature or clan member she came across in her pages, there was no saber-tooth ferret.
"It's no wonder I don't remember making you," Karma muttered to the ferret. "I never did... but..." Karma continued to flip through the pages, looking at Shari and back at the book. "... there only leaves one question then... where did you come from?" Shari blinked opened his eyes and looked at Karma with sleepily eyes. Just when she thought that the ferret might actually answer her question, there came a knock at her door and Jason's head popped in as he opened it. His eyes excited.
"Hey!" He said. "Come on!" Karma jumped from her bed the ferret suddenly forgotten.
"What? What's the matter?" Karma asked, alarmed.
"Omar's awake."
