Today is National Punch Day,

this doesn't mean start a fight,

it's a drink containing fruit juice,

with or without alcohol, it's a delight.

Originally punch contained five ingredients,

alcohol, sugar and lemon juice,

also water and tea or spices,

together a wonderful drink you'll produce.

The word punch, a type of mixed drink, comes from the Hindi "panch"meaning five which refers to the number of original ingredients, water, lemon, sugar, alcohol and tea or spices. This drink is often found at parties, weddings and any other large gathering, it is usually served from a wide bowl.
