Righteous Response 

Four legs stretched as far as possible in the patch of sunlight on the carpet. A lazy lick of the paw and a wipe over the whiskers then up and another stretch before loping down the stairs to the living room.

What the heck?

A large red tunnel in the middle of the room and inside, a favourite toy. Cautiously looking through the opening and freezing. Just back of the ball, a cable with the wire stripped bare at the end.

So this was their plan.

Sat still, staring at the set up and thinking. Sharpened my claws on their leather recliner. Used the laundry basket when the litter box hadn't been cleaned. Loose hair on the cashmere sweater. Well they'll have to get up earlier than this.

Upstairs to leave a note on their computer. Jump up on the keyboard and walk. So much for the complicated tax return.
