10 - Hello Princess

Becky
"I know I said one more on the last push, but this is the last one!"

"AWWRGH!"

There was a pause before Natalya spoke.

"It's a baby girl!"

I heard the faint baby cry, I turned to Colby and saw a huge grin. I couldn't help but cry tears of pure happiness when Natalya handed her to me, she was prefect. I looked down at Nattie and saw pure fear on her face, I ignored it and just focused on the little angel in my arms.

Natalya
"Yes ambulance please."

"Where to and how is the patient?"

"The industrial estate just after junction 46 and the patient is a 24 year old woman and her newborn."

"Are the patients responsive?"

"Yes but the mother is losing a lot of blood and I don't know what to do."

"Okay, whats your name?"

"Natalya."

"Right So Natalya I need you to keep the mother talking, keep the baby close to her chest and do not cut the umbilical cord."

I made my way back down to Becky and the rest, I held my phone with one hand and tried to clean up Becky with the other.

"How much blood is she losing and has the afterbirth come out yet?"

"A lot and no I don't think so, what does it look like?"

"Like a sac, is she still breathing?"

"Yep they're both doing okay."

"Please stay on the line and tell me anything changes."

Only Lacey has seen how much blood Becky was losing and I could see how concerned she was. I was in the line for another ten minutes before an ambulance arrived, I am starting to become extremely worried. Becky's afterbirth still hasn't come out and she's still bleeding a lot. The paramedics came in and my worry's were only slightly eased, they know what they're doing so she's in safe hands.

Becky
"Natalya you spoke on the phone to the responder, has the afterbirth come out."

She shook her head and I felt myself get fearful.

"So what's your name?"

"I'm Rebecca Quin."

"So tell me Rebecca are you in any pain."

"Yes, I hurt a lot down there."

"Okay that's normal, do you mind if I take a look?"

I shook my head and they moved around.

"Can you get me a towel."

The other paramedic rushed off and came back with a towel.

"I'm just going to apply some pressure okay."

I nodded and it did hurt I will admit.

"I'm just going to press down on your stomach a little."

He paused for a moment before turning to look at me.

"Right Rebecca you haven't delivered your placenta, it hasn't been long since the birth so that's okay. We would like to get you to hospital so that you and your baby will be in a sterile environment. Is this okay?"

I nodded and they went back to the ambulance, they came back not long after with a portable bed. With everyone's help I got onto the bed, once we were in the ambulance I felt at ease.

"Rebecca we feel it would be good for both you and your baby if you could relax and try breastfeeding."

Colby
I'm so proud of her, I really am. I can feel how tense she is and if I can calm her enough to help with this whole afterbirth thing I'll do everything I can. I interlocked our hands and her shoulders slumped, I let go and let her do her thing. Our daughter is truly beautiful, she's definitely got her mothers eyes.

"Good job Rebecca, Baby seems to be calmer now too."

Becky is so incredibly strong, she's definitely the warrior she's always been. Birthing and breastfeeding our daughter is just as impressive as winning all the gold at Wrestlemania more so if I'm being honest.

"Your amazing Rebecca Quin."

She blushed and smiled at me, I leaned forward and kissed her cheek.

"And there it is, the afterbirth."

He swiftly cut the umbilical cord and began to clean up Rebecca.

"You've done very well today Rebecca, I know this may have been a stressful experience but now you've got a beautiful little girl. She'll need to be examined once we get you upstairs just to make sure everything's okay."

She weakly nodded her head and I could see her eyes becoming dull.

"Rebecca?"

"What's going on?"

"Just some excess bleeding, I think she needs stitches."

"Stay with her Colby please..."

I nodded and took her from Becky's arms. Once we pulled up at the hospital, I plastic crib was waiting for my daughter and a team of midwife's and doctors took Becky. I walked alongside the crib, my beauty reaching out to grab my hand. She curled her tiny fingers around my thumb. I smiled down at her and she let out the cutest little giggle. Once they finished all there tests, they handed her to me.

"Hello Lopez..."

"You've named her?"

"No, that's just our last name."

"Oh, she seems a little firecracker so go for something strong."

I laughed a little.

"I've barely even known her that long and I'm so in love."

"Children tend to do that to a person..."

"I'll never get over her."

"Girls tend to wrap their father's especially around their little fingers! Be careful or she'll make you skint."

"Yeah she probably will."

Another midwife came in and whispered something to the one in front of me then left again.

"Guess we should get this little one up to her very tired mummy."

Becky
I just about mange to starve off the sleep, I notice a plastic crib making its way towards me.

"We've got someone special here to see you."

The midwife walked in and handed me my little girl.

"Any ideas for names."

"Harley Imogen Lopez?"

"I love it Becks."

"Would have said Quin but it didn't sound right."

"I'll leave you two to it."

"Still want to go for something to eat on Friday?"

"Might have to postpone for a while, I'm kinda busy."

He laughed and nodded.

"Well maybe I'll just come to yours?"

"Yeah I think that might fit my schedule."

He pressed his lips to mine when our daughter made the cutest noise, I pulled away and looked at her with even more adoration."

"We've got a daughter Becks..."

"Isn't it just mad."

"Yep. Me and you are now parents."

"Parents, I'm a mother now."

"Yes you are."

"It's so strange, I've never had anyone rely on me before."

"Quin we're in this for the long run so you better get used to it."

I kissed him this time surprising him.

"And I'm happy it's with you Lopez."

There was a knock at the door and I knew it was my friends so I allowed them to come in.

"Aw she's so cute!"

Mercedes ran to my side, followed by Pam.

"You sure this is your kid?"

Everyone started to laugh.

"Yeah, we haven't let her out of our site."

"So...whats the princesses name?"

"Colby you tell em."

"Harley Imogen Lopez."

"Very fitting name for such a gorgeous girl."

"Do you want to hold her?"

They all made little squeals of excitement.

"Just be very gentle, she's fragile."

"Of course."

They all had a hold then they began to leave one by one until it was just Colby, Harley and I. I kissed her forehead then placed her down in the crib.

"Goodnight princess, sleep well."

"You should go home Colby, we'll be fine and you can come back first thing tomorrow?"

"Okay, goodnight I'll be back tomorrow and I'll bring you both some fresh clothes."

"Goodnight Lopez..."

He kissed me one last time before leaving me, I fell asleep almost instantly. I am truly exhausted and I think I will be for the next few months.

2:34am
I woke up to Harley screaming her lungs out, I pulled her up and onto my chest allowing her to have a night feed. She was calmed and stopped her crying, i waited for her to be done and I bounced and burped her before placing her back down to sleep.

4:12am
I picked her out of the crib and tried to settle her but nothing was working, I lifted her up and realised she needed a nappy change.

"You've got one stinky butt princess..."

I changed her nappy and laid her back down to rest.

4:54am
I'd barely got back to sleep when I was awoken, she wouldn't calm and I didn't know what to do. I pressed the call button behind the bed and a midwife was with me very quickly, I am distressed and almost crying.

"I can't settle her, she won't calm down!"

"It's okay Rebecca, have you tried feeding her?"

"Yeah"

"Changing her nappy?"

"Yeah"

"Just letting her rest on you?"

"Yeah I've tried it all and she won't calm."

"Maybe try and feed her again, she's probably hungry but being stubborn."

"She fed fine earlier, this doesn't make any sense!"

"Rebecca your baby can sense that your stressed, maybe try and calm a little and she might feed."

I tried to block out the screaming so I could relax and after a minute or so I felt her start to latch on.

"There we go and as always if you need me just press the button and I'll be here."

I untangled myself from my IV line and got back into bed, I have to enjoy the little amount of time I get to sleep.
