Chapter 7
Hitoshi made his way out of the restaurant, knowing that Izuku wouldn't bother hanging around. He was a little concerned that the green haired boy had gotten a cab and was long gone by the time he was out of the building.
Thankfully, that wasn't the case.
It took him a second, but eventually the sound of sniffling lead Hitoshi around the side of his restaurant, to where Izuku was sitting against the wall with his knees up to his chest. He didn't seem to notice Hitoshi at first, not until he was sitting next to him, but leaving a bout half a foot of space between them. He knew he didn't have Izuku's trust.
Yet.
When Izuku had finally noticed him, he scrambled to the side a few inches, scared of Hitoshi for obvious reasons. "Calm down, if I wanted to hurt you, I would have when you stood up to me in the café." Hitoshi said, leaning his head back against the brick wall and closing his eyes.
"Wh-what'd you want from me?" Izuku asked, his voice wavering in fear. The sound caused Hitoshi's lip to quirk up. He enjoyed being feared. When people were afraid of you, you had the upper hand.
"I want to give you a job. Have I not made that clear enough yet?" He asked him. He was tired, really tired, and he didn't really want to deal with a sniffling college student, yet there he was. He didn't even have coffee.
"Why would I want to work for you after figuring out what you do?!" Izuku asked, his voice unconsciously getting louder before he could catch himself. He slapped a hand over his mouth after realizing that he had just yelled at someone that's apart of the mafia, but to his surprise Hitoshi didn't move or even care. He stayed leaning against the wall with his eyes closed.
"Because you're desperate. You need the money, don't even try to deny it." Hitoshi pointed out, lazily opening his eyes and rolling his head to the side so he could see the green haired boy next to him.
"How would you know?" Izuku asked back sassily. He wasn't about to confirm that he was drowning in bills and he needed the job more than he cared to admit.
"After meeting you, I had a friend of mine do some research. You're in a shit ton of debt for someone your age, you have to take care of not only yourself but your alcoholic mother, and you're about to lose your house. You need the job." Hitoshi said with a shrug.
Izuku's jaw dropped at what he had just said. He was dead on accurate, but what had he been expecting? He worked for the mafia, of course he would have done a background check on him before offering him a job.
"That's a complete invasion of privacy! You can't just go around meeting people and then 'researching' them to find out how to blackmail them into doing what you want." He said, seething at Hitoshi. He had put air quotes around "researching", knowing that the term was being used loosely.
"I'm pretty sure I can, I mean I already did." Hitoshi said with a shrug.
Izuku huffed. "Whatever, I don't need our pity job. I'm doing just fine at the café. You can keep your money and shove it-" He was cut off.
"You fascinate me." Hitoshi said, shifting his body so he could look at Izuku easier. His tired eyes were calculating as he scanned over Izuku's face and then the rest of him.
Izuku was a blushing mess at Hitoshi's words and actions. "Stop that! You're so infuriating!" He exclaimed, standing up and brushing himself off.
He started to walk away when Hitoshi called after him. "And where do you think you're going?" He asked, not moving from his spot on the ground.
"Home, where do you think?" Izuku snapped back. He was overwhelmed with everything he had learned that day and he just wanted to go home and sleep.
"How do you plan on getting there? Todoroki drove you here." Hitoshi pointed out with a smirk.
Izuku rolled his eyes at the question. "I'm going to walk." He said stubbornly.
Hitoshi groaned as he lifted himself from the ground. "No you're not, do you realize how far it is from here?" He asked, walking over to the green haired boy who was looking up and down the street.
Realization appeared on Hitoshi's face, along with a teasing smirk. "You have no clue where we are, do you?" He asked him.
Izuku's face heated up again. "Wh-what? No! Of course I do." He said, turning to the right and starting to walk, blindly hoping that that was the way to his home.
"It's that way." Hitoshi said, pointing to the left, his smirk on wavering.
Izuku bristled but changed course. "I knew that!" He said.
"Sure you did." Hitoshi said with a lazy nod as he walked along side Izuku. "You know, I could just give you a ride." He pointed out.
"Like I would get into a car with a member of the mafia." Izuku said while wrapping his arms around himself. It was a bit cold and he hadn't exactly dressed for the weather.
"Boss." Hitoshi said absentmindedly looking around at the billboards and people on the street.
"Huh?" Izuku asked, not understanding.
"Mafia boss." Hitoshi clarified.
Izuku almost fainted on sight. He staggered a little, but Hitoshi grabbed his arm and helped him right himself, before Izuku quickly pushed him away.
"You've got to be kidding, right?" He asked, his panic coming back ten fold.
Hitoshi lowly chuckled at the question. "No, I am not kidding. That's why your friends work for me. I run the whole show." He said, continuing to walk. Izuku followed after him, a little scared of what Hitoshi would do if he didn't.
"You aren't gonna kill me, right?" He asked hesitantly.
Hitoshi laughed again, still quietly. "Like I said earlier, if I wanted to hurt or kill you, I would have back at the café." He reminded him.
Izuku let out a breath of relief as he shivered again. Hitoshi noticed this time, rolling his eyes at how the green haired male hadn't thought to bring a jacket. He took off his own and put it around his shoulders, startling the smaller boy.
"What are you doing?!" He asked in shock and slight fear.
"Relax, I'm just giving you my coat because you're shivering." Hitoshi explained, amused that he could so easily spook Izuku.
Izuku looked at him with wide eyes, a look that made Hitoshi avert his own gaze. A weird feeling had started in his chest. "But won't you get cold now?" Izuku asked him.
'Holy shit, he is so pure.' Hitoshi thought to himself, before shaking it away.
"I'm used to the cold." He said with a shrug, not minding. He preferred being cold over hot, so he wasn't really bothered.
Izuku nodded before grabbing the sides of the jacket and pulling it tighter around himself. It was warm from Hitoshi's body heat and it smelt of lavender. A sudden wave of fatigue hit him, causing him to yawn and his eye lids to droop.
"Well aren't you just falling apart." Hitoshi remarked, but Izuku was to tired to snap back. Hitoshi slightly frowned before forming an idea.
Seconds later, Izuku was scooped up by a strong pair of arms. That woke him up a bit. "What are you doing?!" He asked, looking up at Hitoshi.
"You look like you're about to pass out." He said like it perfectly justified his actions.
It didn't, and Izuku would have kept arguing... if he wasn't actually about to pass out. He fought to keep his eyes to open, but the warmth coming from Hitoshi and the faint smell of cigarettes and lavender lulled him to sleep in minutes.
