Chapter 19

"What?"

Between Izuku's reaction and the deadly glare she was getting from Hitoshi, Mina knew she had messed up. Big time.

"It's really-" Hitoshi was cut off before he even had the time to try and defend himself.

"You lied to me." Izuku said, getting out of the bed as quick as possible. There was no way in hell he wanted to be anywhere near Hitoshi at that moment.

"We're just gonna go..." Sero said, pointing to the door and quickly walking out backwards. Kirishima and Mina followed right after him. Bakugou was planning on waiting for Izuku, especially if he was fighting with Hitoshi, he wasn't going to leave them alone.

"I didn't want you to freak out over nothing! You were so upset when you saw us in my office, I didn't want you to be even more hurt." Hitoshi tried to explain, also standing up and trying to make his way over to Izuku, but the shorter moved back. Bakugou watched with calculating eyes, waiting to see if he needed to step in.

"What did I see in your office?" Izuku challenged. He was mad and he got snappy when he was mad.

"Nothing! It was nothing, seriously. I cut things off with him weeks ago." Hitoshi's voice was getting increasingly more desperate, much to Bakugou's surprise. He honestly thought Hitoshi was just trying to play his best friend, but it actually sounded like... he cared?

Izuku shook his head as he looked up, willing the tears to go away. "God, you were trying to not hurt me?" Izuku turned his teary gaze back to Hitoshi. "Do you think this," he gestured to himself, "feels nice?"

"That's not what-"

"Why'd you hide it? I'm a big kid, I can handle the person I like having an ex, I'm not idiotic enough to be upset over you being with someone before me. I'm mad, because you hid it. Why?" Izuku asked.

Hitoshi was starting to panic slightly. Izuku had to be the first good thing to come into his life since... he can't even remember. He couldn't lose him. He was barely holding on as it was, if he let Izuku slip away... it'd probably destroy him completely.

"I didn't... I didn't want...." Hitoshi had no idea how to voice his thoughts and feelings. He hadn't in so long, he was clueless.

Izuku scoffed, turning and walking out of the room, Bakugou following after giving Hitoshi one last thoughtful look. The blond was probably just as confused as Izuku and Hitoshi were.

Before Izuku could get to far down the hall, Bakugou grabbed his wrist, stopping his movements. "C'mon Iz, you don't exactly have a way out of here." He said gently, leading him back to Todoroki's room.

"Hey- Where are you- What happened?" Todoroki asked, going through a few different sentences before he finally landed a question he thought fit the situation. He had just been laying on his bed reading when both of the other males walked in.

"He found out about the insomniac and dunce face." Bakugou explained. He brought Izuku over to the bed and they both took a seat in front of Todoroki.

Todoroki slightly grimaced. "My guess is he didn't take it well?"

"What gave it away?" Izuku asked sarcastically.

"If it makes you feel any better, he really did end it a few weeks ago. Dunce face has been complaining for at least a month." Bakugou said, rolling his eyes at how annoying the other blond could be at times.

"Why'd he lie about it then?" Izuku shot back.

Bakugou held his hands up. "Hey, I'm not the one you're mad at, remember? We already went through that."

Izuku slightly rolled his eyes, but said nothing more.

"Knowing Shinso, he probably lied because he was scared." Todoroki piped up. He had known Hitoshi since they were kids, so he was probably the best one to explain the situation to Izuku, hence why Bakugou brought him there.

"He doesn't get scared." Izuku said with another bitter eye roll.

"When it comes to things like this, yes he does. He gets terrified. He's got a really big heart, you just have to pry away all the barbed wire first." Todoroki tried to explain, but apparently it wasn't working.

He let a sigh before continuing. "I really shouldn't be telling you this, but whatever I guess. After his parents died a few years ago, he snapped. He closed himself off from everyone, including me. I haven't seen him genuinely care about another person until a few days ago when you refused to give him those extra shots of espresso. He's been so closed off for so long, I think he was just worried about losing the one person that actually made him want to be human again."

And now Izuku felt like shit. He groaned as he let his had fall back. "Well now I have to go talk to him. Gosh darn it Todo!" He said, getting up from his bed and going over to the door.

"Do you know how to even get back to his room?" Bakugou asked with a raised brow.

"Nope, that's why you're gonna show me." Izuku said, feeling slightly better now.

With a scoff the blond got up and led Izuku through the halls and back to Hitoshi's room. The purple haired mafia lead was sitting on his bed, just staring off into space. He perked up though when he heard footsteps.

Izuku turned to Bakugou, letting him know with his eyes that he could leave and Izuku would be fine. Bakugou nodded and walked away, letting them talk in private.

Hitoshi stood up, looking like he was about to say something, but Izuku beat him to it.

"No more lies. No more secrets. Got it?" He said.

Hitoshi just nodded with a pleading look.

Izuku let out a breath of air as he closed the distance between the two and hugged Hitoshi tightly. "That was a dumb thing to lie about." He mumbled into the taller's chest.

"I know." Hitoshi said quietly, holding onto Izuku like he was going to slip away again.

"Any other bitter ex's I should know about?" Izuku said in a joking tone, trying to lighten the mood.

"No puppy, that's be the only one. I wouldn't even qualify him as an ex." Hitoshi explained.

"I guess that makes me feel slightly better." Izuku mused.

"I'm... I'm sorry- for lying..." Hitoshi said softly. Apologizing wasn't something he did often, or ever really, and Izuku knew that. Which is why it meant so much to him.

"I'm not going to say it's okay, but I know why you did it, so I forgive you. But so help me God, if you do it again, I'm walking out of here and never coming back." Izuku threatened, moving his head away to glare at Hitoshi.

Hitoshi just sheepishly smiled. "Noted. Never again, puppy." He said with a nod.

Izuku smiled back at him. "Good."

Izuku rested his head against Hitoshi's chest once again, just letting the taller male hold onto him. "Think we're moving to fast?" Izuku mused, hoping for a answer of no.

"Not at all. I'm a mafia leader, we move at a different rate than normal people." Hitoshi joked.

"Fantastic."
