Walking her home

Millies pov

It's been a few weeks since that incident with Jacob. I've just been trying to catch up on all of my work and studying.

Maddie on the other hand, she's been out a lot recently. I don't know where, but I heard her mention a boy. Which I'm not mad about. She deserves someone like that.

All of the boys are the same as they usually are, except Finn. Finn and I have barely talked since his argument with Jacob. I don't know if he's ignoring me or I'm ignoring him, but it's weird. It's like there's tension in the air when we're near each other.

"You total will be 5.28 at the first window," I say through the headset, on my way to make the drink.

"So how have you been lately? I swear we haven't worked the same schedule in forever." Sadie said, and I nodded. I've been put on morning hours recently, I don't know why. It's way more busy in the morning. But it's good practice for me. Tonight, I'm working a night shift.

"Yeah I know, I don't know why I was switched to the mornings. But yeah I'm okay, nothing really new. How are you?" I asked her, handing her the drink I finished making.

"I'm okay. Just really bored. There's been no parties and nobody wants to hang out so I've just been doing schoolwork." She said, and I nodded.

"We should hang out soon." I told her, and she smiled and nodded.

"Did I hear someone say hang out?" Gaten said, walking up to us with Noah.

"Shut up Gaten. We didn't invite you." Sadie said, both of us laughing. They continued chatting while I went to the back to grab some more boxes of creamer and sugar. In the back, there are shelves of everything, and everything is labeled. It's quiet back here. I like it, it's a nice break for a second.

I turn around and start to walk forward, but collide with someone, dropping all of the sugar and creamer everywhere. I shrieked, and looked up to see that it was Finn.

"I'm sorry." He said, as we both bent down to start grabbing it all and putting it back in the huge box.

"It's okay, it was my fault." I said, as we continued to put everything back in.

"How've you been?" He asked, stopping and looking at me. I stopped and looked at him.

"I'm fine." I said, and he sighed.

"I feel like you've been ignoring me." He claims, and I furrow my eyebrows, picking up the last of the stuff.

"I'm not." I said back, feeling his gaze burning into my face.

"Well are you okay? Did something happen?" He asked, and I sighed getting up, trying to lift the heavy box. I didn't reply, so he sighed watching me struggle with the box. He bent down and grabbed it for me, lifting it up making it look easy.

"Nothing happened-I'm sorry." I said, as we made our way back to the front with the box.

"It's okay," he said quietly, not sure of if he wanted me to hear it or not. We got back up to the front and saw everyone talking, chatting about something.

"And what were you two doing in the storage room where no cameras can see y'all?" Gaten teased, making Finn hit Gaten in the arm.

"Shut the fuck up." Finn said, and Gaten laughed it off, as well as the others.

"So we were thinking we can all hang." Caleb said, making me look up to them.

"Hang how?" I asked, and they shrugged.

"We could get high-

"No." Sadie and I said at the same time, getting eye rolls from the guys.

"Well we aren't gonna do stupid girly stuff." Noah said, making me laugh. I can see Noah being someone who would do stupid girly stuff.

"How about we just hang at one of our dorms, we can figure out what to do from there." Sadie suggested, making me nod.

"Well us guys have the bigger dorm rooms, so let's hang at one of ours." Noah said, making Sadies eyes roll.

"Okay, fine. And when is this?" She asks, as Finn and I finish putting away everything. His hands graze mine on accident, but I immediately stand up not making it a big deal. Because it isn't.

"Tomorrow." Caleb announced, making everyone nod.

"What are all of you doing up here? Do something productive, god damn." Nick said, walking up to us.

"Hey, you've been on your phone in the managers room for over an hour." Finn said, calling him out, making the other guys hype him up.

"Whatever. Just do your job when we have a customer." He said, walking away.

"Bye everyone!!" Sadie said, leaving to go home. Noah holds open the door for me, me quietly thanking him. I look around and see it's pitch dark outside. Walking home alone while it's dark is low key scary, and could be dangerous.

"You good?" I heard someone ask from behind me. I turn to see Finn. I look up to him, our height difference noticeable.

"Yeah I'm okay." I said, and Finn looked behind me.

"I can walk you home if you want." Finn said, and I shrugged.

"I'll be okay." I said, and Finn raised his eyebrows at me, not believing it.

"Finn, you coming or what?" Gaten asked him, as they were walking in the opposite direction, probably to go smoke. Finn turned towards them.

"I'm gonna walk Millie home, it's dark out. But I'll see you all tomorrow!" Finn yelled to them, and we started walking.

"Simp!" I heard Caleb yell, causing the boys to laugh. Finn rolled his eyes and shook his head, and we continued walking. It's about a ten minute walk to my dorm.

"So how are you really?" Finn asked me. My heart skipped a beat out of nervousness. I don't tell anyone about me.

"I-I'm okay." I reply back, keeping me eyes down on the road in front of us.

"Did something happen? You never answered me." He asked, and I shook my head. What was he trying to do right now?

We walked silently for a few minutes, until of course, my body had to do a whole shiver.

"You're cold?" Finn asked, and I nodded.

"It's literally like 30 degrees," I joked. I saw him start taking off his jacket in the corner of my eye, but I stopped walking and stopped him.

"No it's fine. Really." I said, but he ignored me and took it off anyway and handed it to me.

"No the pleasure is mine. Really." He said, mimicking my accent, making me laugh." I threw it on and immediately was grateful I ended up taking it, because it was super warm.

Soon enough, we made it up to my dorm room. I turned to him, putting my back against the door. I had to look up at him.

"Thanks for walking me." I said, and he smiled and nodded.

"Anytime." He replies. I put my hands at the bottom of the hoodie to take it off, but his hands immediately grab mine and take them off the hoodie.

"No keep it. I don't need it." He said, making me furrow my eyebrows.

"Why not?" I asked, and he shrugged.

"I have like a hundred hoodies. And you can just have that one to wear when you're cold, it's a warm one." Finn said, making me smile.

"Okay weirdo." I said, making him laugh.

"Fine I'll just take it then-

"Nope. No you already offered." I said, cutting him off. He smiled at me, looking around all the details of my face.

"Goodnight Finn." I said, breaking his gaze on me.

"Night Millie. See you tomorrow." He said, as I opened the door and closed it. I saw Maddie sitting in her bed, on her phone. She looked up at me.

"How was work?" She asked, and I smiled.

"It was good." I said, laying down in my bed. She smirked at me.

"Millie smiling after a shift? Since when?" Maddie asks, and I laugh.

"Shut up Maddie." I said, sitting up on the bed.

"I'll shut up when you tell me who's hoodie that is on you, cause it's definitely not yours. It's ginormous." She said, and I rolled my eyes.

"Finn gave it to me when he walked me home, no big deal." I said, getting up to get clothes to shower.

"What??? Walked you home? And gave his hoodie to you? Dude oh my god." Maddie said, making me laugh.

"Stop Maddie. We're friends." I said, as she kept teasing me all night about it.
