Tornado

1 of my personal favorite chapters

It was a quiet breakfast.

Lilia, Sadie and Maddie thought it would be a good idea to get breakfast with the group before all of their mid terms started. Millie was hesitant, but agreed.

When everyone was sat, it was very quiet. There was tension thick in the air, but nobody could seem to find the reason why.

The only reason to have was everything that went down with Millie and Finn, but lately they had acted fine enough they can hang out and have a good time with the group.

Caleb was the first one to break the silence.

"So how was work after I left?" He asked, which Millie replied to by choking on her water. Finn looked up to her, then over to Caleb.

"Uh, it was fine. The power went out though for a little while." He said, and Caleb nodded.

"Well at least you got paid extra to do literally nothing," Caleb joked, Finn nodding and staring at the table, holding back a grin.

Yeah, nothing. Let's say that.

Last night, Finn and Millie hooked up in the break room. Nothing was resolved, though. When Millie is around Finn, it's like she's too weak to think about anything. Finn knows this, and maybe slightly uses it to his advantage.

So here they are today, obvious tension between the two. They were screaming at each other last night.

He didn't mean to yell, but he was so angry with the way she was trying to make it seem like it was his fault when in reality it was hers. He has every right to be upset with her.

"Well how are studying for mid terms for everyone?" Sadie asked, bringing Finn out of his thoughts.

"Literal hell." Maddie said, some of the guys chuckling and agreeing.

"I just need them to be done with so I can go back to my life of doing nothing," Noah said, Gaten nodding.

"I have a 20 page paper due in two days for one of my mid terms if that makes you feel better," Millie said, the girls widening their eyes.

"Oh my god I would literally die," Lilia said, the girls agreeing.

"Trust me I feel like I am," Millie said, leaning her head into her hands, avoiding eye contact with the boy across from her.

Why did he get placed across from me? We need to be on opposite sides of the table.

She is so heartbroken over this boy but once she's around him it's like she's weak and forgets about all of it. He makes her nervous.

And he can tell.

Especially from what happened last night, Millie can't look him in the eyes right now. Thank god nobody was there, because her moans were practically echoing through the building.

"Millie?" Caleb snapped her out of her thoughts. She looked up, quickly glancing at Finn who's eyes were on her before turning to Caleb.

"Yeah?" She asked, the group laughing at her since it's now the third time Caleb has said her name.

"What's the paper about?" He asked, Millie took a deep sigh.

"It's basically about how the news and news articles can make something seem completely different than it is. The amount of false information we read on the internet is insane, and literally nobody cares and they just believe it because that's what articles and stories tell us. Also about how the news doesn't really tell us what's actually happening in the world, and how they hide information from us by either reporting the same old same old, or making something else a huge deal so our eyes are drawn away from real issues in the world," Millie said, as she looked over to Noah fake snoring. She rolled her eyes.

"Sorry I'm not doing journalism for a living so I'm gonna keep believing the fake news," Noah said, Millie laughing.

Millie woke up to Maddie opening the door to Jack. She groaned, realizing she fell asleep after breakfast.

"Morning Millie," Jack joked. Maddie laughed, and they both sat on maddies bed. Millie sighed, getting up and checking her phone.

"I think I'm gonna head to the library to finish my paper." Millie said, and Maddie nodded. Millie got up and drank some water, grabbed her tote bag with her computer and notebook and said a quick bye before heading to the library.

It was mid term week, so everyone was at the library. It was commotion.

She arrived at the library and got onto the elevator, going to the 10th floor; her favorite for some reason.

Surprisingly, nobody else got on with her. But once the floor moved up to floor three, the door opened to let someone else go up as well.

Millie's eyes widened then quickly averted her gaze to the floor.

Why is Finn at the library of all places? Life is setting me up.

"How convenient," Finn said, pressing floor 10 as well. She felt the air around her thicken as the door closed to leave them in the confined space together.

Finn kept his gaze on her, as she kept hers focused on the floor levels. He noticed she brought her hand up to her chest, and was gripping at the fabric.

He noticed she does that when she's really anxious.

"Are you okay?" He asked quietly. She turned to look at him for the first time, then back down to her hand who was clutching at the fabric of her chest, and she realized she was barely able to breathe. He saw the look of panic in her eyes, as she started rapidly breathing like she was gasping for air.

She couldn't move, and she couldn't breathe. Her heart felt like it was going at a million beats per hour, and her chest was on fire.

The floor reached the 10th, and Finn looked to the open door then to her.

"Come on, let's get out," Finn said, wrapping an arm around her lower back and leading her out of the elevator, and checking if anyone was in sight.

Nobody looked their way so Finn took the chance to slip around the book cases and found a quiet spot in the corner where there was an empty table with nobody around.

He sat Millie down in one of the chairs, moving a chair to sit in front of her. He scanned her, noticing how pale her face is and how much she was struggling to breathe.

"Take deep breaths, okay? In....and out," Finn said quietly, nervously grabbing her hand to see how she would react. It was really cold. It was stiff at first, but she relaxed to his touch. She followed his words telling her when to breathe, and her eyes didn't leave his.

He's beautiful.

Shut up Millie.

She kept taking deep breaths, and slowly let go of the fabric of her shirt, dropping her hand down on her leg. She leaned forward, dropping her head to her legs to calm down. Finn set one of his hands on her back, gently rubbing it. She relaxed under his touch, and her breathing started to steady.

Finn had dealt with this a couple of times before, she would usually have panic attacks at night. And once before at work. He usually seemed to help her through it.

She leaned back up and met Finn's stare and letting out a deep breath.

"Thank you," Millie said quietly, and Finn nodded. He watches her eyes fall to her lap, and he follows her gaze to see their hands are intertwined. They both look back up to each other, Millie having a nervous look on her face. They both hesitantly separate their hands from each other, Finn leaning back a little bit.

"Finn, I'm s-

Millie got cut off by a huge bang followed by a rumbling sound. They both jumped, and realized it was storming again. But it was even worse than last night.

As soon as they looked outside, they heard the tornado alarm go off.

"Everyone please make their way to the basement, this is not a drill. Again, everyone make their way to the basement, do not use the elevator." The speaker said, as Finn and Millie watched everyone get up and gather their things, rushing over to the stairs.

Finn got up and offered Millie his hand, which after a few seconds she took as he helped her up.

They made their way down the stairs together, the alarm blasting in their ears. Every now and then there would be a huge boom of thunder, practically shaking the building.

They made it to the basement to see everyone was sitting against the walls, there were no windows. Finn led her over to a corner that wasn't as crowded as other parts, and they both sat down.

An official who was running everything started to speak, causing a stop to everyone's loud conversations.

"We are under a severe tornado watch, and we will be here until it is safe to leave. We will keep you all updated when we get more information," they said, and as soon as they stopped talking the chatter continued.

Millie sighed, leaning her head against the wall.

Of course, she is stuck in a basement with Finn for god knows how long. It's like whenever she tries to avoid him, he is always there. Life is setting her up for her downfall.

"Well if you need any help with your paper I'd be happy to help. I mean, we are stuck down here after all." Finn said, Millie turning her head to him. She didn't realize how close she was till she turned, her heartbeat speeding up. She quickly looked back down to her bag, and nodded.

"Uh, yeah sure. I'll share it with you." Millie said, grabbing her computer and placing it on her lap.

It's been a few hours, and everyone was bored. Millie had a couple pages left to finish, and with Finn's help she is almost done but she's going to save it for later; she needs a break.

Everyone in the basement decided to play sharades, so there was one person in the middle of the basement and everyone else was sitting and trying to guess.

Millie thought it was funny, and she was laughing a lot of the time.

Finn's heart sped up every time he heard Millie laugh. He loves her laugh. He looked away from the guy that was in the middle and over to his and Millie's legs, which were laying straight out with their backs against the wall.

He noticed his foot was centimeters away from Millie's, and they could easily touch.

You're not in middle school Finn, god.

But he feels like he is. He's so insanely wrapped around her finger and she doesn't even realize it. But at the same time, his heart aches at what she did to him. It's not fair. Why would she do something like that? She's not like that, that isn't Millie. Which the only reason Finn can think of is that it's just fun for her, like she did to Wyatt. But he didn't think Millie was that type of girl.

A huge boom of thunder hit again, shaking the ceiling.

"When do you think we can go back?" Millie asked, staring at her lap. Finn shrugged.

"Hopefully soon, but it sounds serious outside." Finn replied. Millie sighed, leaning her head back against the cement wall.

"I'm so tired," she said, closing her eyes. Finn grinned at her.

"Take a nap. I'll wake you up when we leave."

Finn woke up to mumbling, looking over to see a group of guys playing a game on one of their computers. The lights were dimmer, and practically everyone else was sleeping.

He noticed a weight on his shoulder, and looked down to see Millie's head on his shoulder and her arm wrapped lightly around his upper arm.

He sighed, looking at her sleepy state. He slowly lifted up his other hand, and lightly moved a piece of her hair behind her ear. He heard her slightly hum, and tighten her grip on his arm.

His stomach filled with butterflies, and his heart rate picked up. He hates the effect she has on him. He's never felt like this with any other girl, and it's a new feeling for him.

In all honestly, he just used women for sex. And it was fine, because they were fine with it. They wanted it, it's not like they wanted to date him either. Just hookups. He has gotten to know a lot about a woman's body over some time. He knows what to do, and when to do it.

But he takes his time with Millie. Usually. The last week or two, they weren't too focused on the idea of taking their time. But Millie likes it, and what Millie likes he does. Because he wants her to feel good, because he loves-

Likes. Likes her.

He likes her. He wants to make sure everything is perfect for her.

Well, was.

"Finn?" He heard her mumble, taking him out of his thoughts.

"Yeah?" He asked quietly, everyone around him still sleeping.

"What time is it?" She asked, her eyes half open, her head still leaning on his shoulder. He grabbed his phone from his pocket.

2:43am

"Almost 3," he said, Millie sighing. There was silence for a few minutes, before a door had been opened.

"The watch is over, it did some damage to some parts of campus but everyone was safe and out of harms way. You are all free to go, but are more than welcome to stay here." The official said, everyone cheering.

People started to pile out quickly, but Millie stayed put in her sleeping position.

"Hey, wanna head out?" Finn asked, Millie groaning. Finn smiled, slowly lifting her head off his shoulder. As much as he wanted to stay in that position forever.

"Come on, I'll help you to your room. You can even get on my back." Finn said reluctantly, and Millie's head shot up and smiled. He never let her ride on his back.

Finn stood up and leaned over to grab her hands, lifting her up. He could tell she was really tired. He helped her into his back, and they made their way out of the basement and back to the dorm rooms.

"How much longer? This is a bumpy ride," Millie mumbled into his shoulder. Finn chuckled.

"We're almost there. We're by the elevator." He said, going to press the button. He's surprised that he carried her all this way, but she's very light so it's not a problem.

They got to Millie's floor, and Millie gave Finn the key for her room. He unlocked it and they entered the room, where Maddie was nowhere to be seen.

Probably Jacks.

He let Millie off of his shoulders, and onto the bed. Her eyes were slowly closing, already half asleep.

Finn eyed her, nerves in his stomach. He watched her struggle to sleepily get the covers off, so he helped and pulled them down so she can get underneath. He eyed her outfit, noticing she's wearing a pair of sweatpants and a cropped tank top.

"You wanna sleep in that?" He asked, as Millie looked down to her outfit. She shrugged. He walked over to her dresser, and grabbed her a pair of her sleeping shorts with a big tshirt.

She looked up to him, and he turned around so she could change. He heard clothes getting thrown on the floor, and her changing into the new ones. He looked over to the time which ready 3:15, and sighed. He's exhausted.

"Okay, I'm gonna head back to my dorm." Finn said, turning back around to face Millie. She looked up at him with a hint of sadness in her eyes, which then turned into nervous ones.

"You could just stay here tonight, it's already so late." She said quietly, looking up to him. He was looking down to her sitting on the bed in front of him, himself standing in front of the bed.

"Um-if you want." She added quickly, starting to mess with the skin around her fingernails.

He nodded, the two slightly smiling at each other. Millie moved over to the other side of the bed to make room for Finn, and he looked to her.

"Do you possibly still have-

"They're in the top drawer." Millie stated, referring to his clothes he's left here a while back. He said thanks, and changed once Millie turned.

I mean, it's definitely not like they've seen each other naked before.

Finn turned off the lights and got into bed next to her, taking in all of her facial features while her eyes were closed.

She had very light freckles and long eyelashes, with a button-like nose. Her lips were the perfect size, which fit perfectly with his. He trailed down, looking at her shirt to her shorts which were now covered by the shirt. Her legs were bent up, one laying on top of the other. They were very tan and smooth.

Stop staring at her you idiot, he internally scolded himself. He looked back up to her face to see her gaze intently on him, watching him stare at her. His face immediately went red, glad that she couldn't see.

"Are you okay? After what happened earlier?" He asked quietly, almost a whisper. The two were laying on their sides, about a foot of space between them.

"Yeah. I don't know why that happened. I guess I'm just really stressed out." She replied, Finn nodding.

"I'm sorry if I stressed you out." Finn's response made Millie look back up to him, shaking her head.

"No, just anxious I guess." Millie explained, Finn sighing.

"Don't be anxious around me. Nothing to worry about." Finn said, meeting her gaze once again. She lightly smiled, and he returned it,

The two kept their stares for a while longer, and Finn brought his hand up to her face to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. She was stiff to the touch, but soon relaxed to his hand.

He lightly rested his hand along the side of her face, tracing down to her neck, to her arm, and to her waist.

She rolled over from laying on her side to laying on her stomach, closing her eyes. Finn's hand was forced to move up to her back from the movement, and he scratched her back lightly to help her fall asleep.

She let out a contented sigh, making Finn smile.

He likes this better than anything. Just being intimate, without being intimate. He used to hate this kind of stuff, but it comes so naturally when he's with Millie.

But we aren't even together.

And she made out with another guy to prove that.

His heart ached, but he continued to stare at Millie. It's hard for him to be so hurt by this girl and infatuated with her at the same time.

His hand slipped under her shirt, his fingers tracing her bare skin. Millie loved the feeling of his touch, and she could never get enough of it. She can't fall asleep anymore, because all she wants is to feel Finn's touch. It takes all of her worries away.

He scratched her back for a little bit, before resting his hand back between the two.

"How's your chest feeling?" Finn asked quietly, Millie sighing.

"Like I got hit with a truck." She said, slightly smiling but still in pain.

When she gets panic attacks, her chest is sore afterwards. Just from breathing so heavily. Finn was nervous to ask his next question, knowing it could cross some boundaries that they shouldn't be crossing right now.

But he wants Millie to feel better.

"Do you want me to rub it?" He asked, Millie's eyes opening and looking to him. When she has panic attacks at night, they would usually spoon and Finn would keep his hand on her chest for comfort and security, and it helped her fall asleep when it happened. When they were together.

Well, technically we weren't.

She sensed Finn was nervous due to his flickering eyes and his foot shaking.

"Um, yeah. I would appreciate it." Millie said quietly, Finn perking up from her words. She nodded, and slowly turned away from him, her back facing him.

He rubbed her back for a second before moving closer to her, his chest completely against her back. He heard Millie's heavy breathing, and his hand gently made its way to her chest. He laid his head down behind hers, his breath hitting her neck.

"Just breathe, it's okay," he whispered to her ear. She felt him pressed against her back, and felt his heart beating heavily and quick against her back.

She bent her legs, giving Finn more room for Finn's legs to intertwine with hers.

"Thank you." Millie whispered, Finn moving his hand for a split second to tuck some of her hair behind her ear.

"Of course. Goodnight, mill." He whispered back, putting his hand back to her chest where he can feel her heartbeat against his palm.

"Goodnight Finn."

The two soon fell asleep with their bodies intertwined together, peacefully sleeping through the rest of the stormy night.

Aww cute
